you are so right about pets loving the wool! im new to felting and just got a starter kit and woke up this morning to all my wool bag around my house, my cat had fun whilst i was in bed 🤣
Thankfully my cat only attacked the little shiba toy I was making, though she darn near took its ear back off. All my wool is stored in the plastic it came in, so she can't smell that.

I also think that needles become warm after a lot of vigorous stabbing and then that softens them and makes them snap. So I have two needles the same size and work with one for a little while and then give that a rest and use the other. I actually prefer finer needles though, even at the start, but that’s just me. I also hardly ever work with wire. I just felt hard. I use a finger guard now and then if I am doing something very small. But I cut the fingers off a washing up rubber glove. Easy to slip on and off and gives that little bit of protection.

One question, how easy is it to overwork the wool? And if you do, should you add more layers to compensate and try to correct, or just abandon? Thank you, take care
It takes a long time to over work the wool (does depend a bit on wool type). If you do over work it, it's hard to get your shape as you can't change it. Adding wool would help a bit but if you've really over worked it even this might prove tricky. I would hate to abandon it, maybe trim it down with scissors and try adding a layer x
