- This is Grace Vanderwaal's first public performance of "Clearly". This is based on the original hit by Johnny Nash "I Can See Clearly Now." I left in her background story of how the song came about.
This was recorded at the 930 Club in Washington DC.
She sings her lyrics from the bottom of her heart and that's what you feel .... very refreshing new songs ... keep it up ..
I've watched at least 2 performances of this song, and by watching Grace's body language (almost over-explaining her intro and she shakes her hand both performances just before singing), I can tell she has an emotional investment in this song like she does GOSSIP GIRL; I think this song is a self-reflection of her life just 2 years ago. This is another excellent spin on a cover. Grace doesn't have it in her to go wrong with anything! This is CLEARLY another hit!! I would love to hear this on a STUDIO RECORDING!!
Should be out as a single in April
You know it is released now? ruclips.net/video/ZcCp7488puc/видео.html&lc= It is fabulous.
perfectly imperfect perfect Grace
She sings so beautiful live, can't wait till I'll see her one day live.. :)
She is just Great
Another great video, Erfedwe ... Thanks! My new favorite tune from Grace.. :))
Erfedwe - I was there, but not that close - this is a great capture, thank you.
Thanks. We were fortunate to be one of the first 30 in line. They let us in @ 5:30, where we waited in the downstairs bar until 6. Grace was upstairs doing a sound check. At 6 we got to go up and grab our spaces by the stage, then they opened the main doors and everyone else poured in. I hope you enjoyed the show!
I went to this concert! It was AMAZING!!!!!
It was indeed. We were fortunate to be up at the stage, so we got some good video. Glad you had a great time!
.....Awesome show. We were there too. The world premier of Clearly, before it even had a name...!
Hypermarlin YEAH!
As soon as she mentioned something about a new song, I hit the record button!
Erfedwe 😂😂omg same and then when she said she was releasing it I went to my recorded songs and started memorizing the lyrics😂
You are my diva!😉👍🏻✨
Wow Wow sweet great Clearly, was caught bye you thanks :) The Texas Gent
Thank you for the generous compliment. I see you posting on the Facebook group a lot. It is much appreciated.
Awesome.
Thank you for also taking the intro's. Must have been an experience to follow the concert so close to the stage :))
It was simply amazing. The days of seeing Grace in an intimate venue like this are numbered. This little angle will be a megastar and selling out stadiums before too long.
Agreed. But I have been to ACL type festivals near to the wavebreaker and can assure you this are almost as good. Stadium concerts, however, are too indirect. I must wait until Grace comes to Europe sometime in the future which is even worse :)))
Hopefully, there will be a European, or world tour in her not too distant future. She has a lot of fans from all over the globe. I know she will be doing a tour in Japan soon. Looking at the views my videos are getting, about 40% are from outside the US.
Related fun fact: some of us are checking almost daily where the most Spotify streams are requested. Today it looks like this:
Most listeners by city is completely different from yesterday as well...
London UK is #1
Mexico City is #2
New York City US #3
Thank you _here_ as well for uploading the other three videos (liked of course). Great view and a steady hand :))
Thanks. Much appreciated.
Great video, very clear and steady. I love it when she flubs up a bit. It proves how real she is. I was a little disappointed in the newly released video. Her singing and the amount of emotion she put into it was superb, but those background singers just distracted from her incredible voice. I just feel it would have been a #1 hit if they hadn't over produced it.
Thank U 😊👍
Woo!
Hoo!
Erfedwe
🎉🎇🎆
She made Jimmy Cliffs song here and what a great job she did, Once again Amazing Grace love you girl you are perfect !!!
Johnny Nash did the original in 1972. Jimmy Cliff did a popular cover. Grace, along with her production team, rewrote the entire song, with the exception of 3 lines in the original chorus.
Grace is my hero! ^ ^
Everyone messes up now and then. If you don't believe me. You're a fool. Great job Grace.
I wish I could go back to this night but without feeling sick, lol
It was a great night. You got to see Grace perform from 15 feet away and were lucky enough to have her grab your hand twice. Have you washed it? It will be much harder to get that kind of experience with her playing in bigger venues!
Yes, dad, I’ve washed my hand. The concert was in February and it’s almost May! I washed it that night because after the concert I went to the bathroom
Good girl!
Well, you almost got your wish. You got to see her for a 2nd time (opening for the Imagine Dragons)! The "seats" weren't as good, but there is no bad seat when you are at a Grace Vanderwaal concert!!!

[ Verse 1 ]
There’s a world outside my door
I won’t know it anymore
:,: I’m gonna stay here now :,:
Imagine darkness cut the lights
Imagine darkness came in my mind
It’s gonna take me down
It’s gonna take me
[ Pre-chorus ]
All the roads I’ve been before
Same mistakes always got me shakin'!
And all the signs I once ignored
In my denial I didn’t want to face them!
[ 1st chorus ]
I can see clearly now: the rain has gone.
I accept all the things that I cannot change.
Gone are the dark clouds, the dawn has come.
There’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day.
[ Verse 2 ]
There’s a road outside my door
I force my feet down to the floor
:,: It’s not gonna take me down :,:
Take a breath and say a prayer
Find the strength in my despair
It’s not gonna take me down
It’s not gonna take me
[ Pre-chorus ]
All the roads I’ve been before
Same mistakes always got me shakin'!
And all the signs I once ignored
In my denial I didn’t want to face them!
[ 2nd chorus ]
I can see clearly now: the rain has gone.
I accept all the things that I cannot change.
Gone are the dark clouds, the dawn has come.
:,: There’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day. :,:
[ Bridge ]
All the pain in my sorrow
Won’t change today, only ruin tomorrow
Oh, all the pain in my sorrow
Won’t change today, only ruin tomorrow
[ 3rd chorus ]
I can see clearly now: the rain has gone.
I accept all the things that I cannot change.
Gone are the dark clouds, the dawn has come.
:,: There’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day. :,:

I weep.
Grace, I like the Video but this is better, Thank You.
There is nothing quite like seeing Grace live!
Believe this video is something someone did on a phone or a cheap camera 😊
she said she didn't write this song. But I thought she wrote it except the refrain??
According to her facebook post she had some say in it but it was written mostly by Ido and 4 other writers and producers. In another video she talks about how it was going to be on the album but that one of the writers was from houston and was in the hurricane that hit so they could not get them to sign off on it in time. Apparently now it will be released as an single.
it was Johnny Nash in the hurricane, the original singer, so they did not manage to get permission from him in time to get this song on the JTB album. I think to release this song as a single is a better idea.
I'll say Grace WAS referring the refrain (since it is this song's most popular point of reference), BUT, I will bet she wrote the rest of it, if not most of the melody. I like the off-an-octave(?)quality of the refrain...it now makes this song VERY REFLECTIVE OF HER SHORT PAST, just 2 years ago, CLEARLY representing her getting confinence in herself.
She needs to go back on the road singing again.
That's an old raggae song from the 70s by Johnny Nash.
The original Johnny Nash version was R&B, but the popular cover by Jimmy Cliff was Reggae. This, however, is a complete re-write of the song, with only 3 lines of the original chorus remaining. With Nash's permissions of course.
To think shes 1 of the best 14 yo singer song writers ever..it not the best.....whos better at 14....
I don't recall ever following an artist this young. There have been others to be sure, but this young lady is in a league by herself. And age aside, she may be one of the best singer / song writers in a generation!
