As an autistic person who goes nonverbal relatively frequently, I really appreciate the way you talk about your son. A lot of parents can be really mean about/to their nonverbal kids, and it's really refreshing to see someone talk about their autistic child in a positive way. I'm glad he has a supportive home❤

I promise it gets better as we age and you should be proud of yourself for being such a loving mother who doesn't make life harder for your son just because his brain works differently than yours. I'd go to war for my peeps, they're like extended family to me, through thick and thin. I hope, whether it's blood or not, you have a family around you and people who will fight for you too. You and everyone else deserve to be loved, don't forget it!
I don't think having a difficult time coming to terms with it is necessarily bad. Doesn't mean they don't love you. Things are hard to deal with and people deal with them different ways.

One of my favorite things about your channel is when you say something like, “ok I had to stop and go cook dinner / pick up the kids / GIVE BIRTH!” and then you resume doing the set. You could leave that info out and edit it to look like one luxurious, uninterrupted sit down. But it is so relatable to know that you are balancing this with the rest of life. I think you have a wonderful outlook on motherhood and the many challenges it brings.

Autistic mom here too. And the mama bear in me is so protective over my son. It’s been such a journey and the small milestones to some are such big milestones to me. But come at him sideways and ima act a whole fool lol. Learned so much from you over the years 🙌🏾💕💕

I'm so sorry you have to get so defensive for your son. I work for an advocacy agency working with adults with intellectual disabilities and I just know he's gonna grow up and be able to live his own life though, whether he'll be on his own or with a similar agency I just know he's gonna get there and I'm so happy to see a supportive parent. I cannot tell you how many individuals in the agency don't have that and grew up abused. You're doing amazing for being the outlier and supporting him.
I love listening to you while you do nails! Your voice makes the instructions feel easy and motivated me to start doing my own nails. I’m 51 and will keep doing my own nails, I agree it’s relaxing!
Your nails are bomb 🥰 and with my son he was born prematurely at 29 weeks via an emergency C Section, he was 2lbs 6oz, placed in NICU where he stayed for a month, and when he turned 4lbs 6oz plus was able to maintain his body head and breastfeed is when he could come home. I was 21 when I had him. He’s my little miracle baby too 🥳 they do say African American children in NICU or just born prematurely in generalhave a much higher survival rate over any other race and you can research that. Just a little fun fact. My son will be 2 in a few months by the way.

I am a nail tech. I retired in 2020 after 33 years. Lol DONE! Well I have been wanting my nails done but really didn’t want to do them, it’s been so long since I have done my own, takes forever. But when you said you love being in that creative space and just take your time. I was like that’s it. I can do my nails and if it takes 2 or 3 hours who cares!!! ENJOY THE PROCESS! I am so glad I came across this video. I do strictly acrylic. I want to learn the gel stuff too. Just haven’t stepped out. It would be just for me. I am 60 and after all the years of doing other people it just got to where I wanted someone else to do them, but then I would have to come home and reshape and file. Finally I was like that is a waste of money. So guess what? I am gonna work on my nails tomorrow. Keep doing whatcha doing cuz it is fun to watch you! Hugs ❤

I don’t have strong opinions about nails, I’m really just learning, but I just wanted to chime in as an autistic adult with many other disabilities and a caretaker/disability care career: I’m so happy to hear your take on your kids in general, and your casualty, not hiding but still private stance on these things - especially for M.J. I’m new to the channel so I don’t know how often you talk about them, but the idea of keeping it brief and positive and addressing the challenges in general terms while keeping a protective, thoughtful air around their privacy - it’s extremely fulfilling to see, as an autistic adult. Our parents and that generation didn’t have the knowledge or tools to offer accommodation and watching parents in our generation (I’m 32) shoulder the responsibility without making it wholly about themselves or addressing their children as problems is refreshing. It’s hard, and it’s complicated, and as much as the disability itself, it seems like the world being unwilling to just adjust and help us the challenge. I love talking about the social model of disability rather than the medical model - and both are valid and part of the equation. M.J. will develop skills and have so many opportunities because of your balance of pushing for his functionality and ability to conform where necessary and also because of your protectiveness, tenderness toward him and his mind/heart, and your awareness that inspires those choices. Basically: Go Mama! It’s so nice to hear stories about people like you having families and success and I wish you all the best now and forever! Show M.J. and the girls love for me in the way they most like to be shown love! And I’m just so proud of your daughter for pursuing music, it’s a love of mine, too ❤

I'm so sorry you have to get so defensive for your son. I work for an advocacy agency working with adults with intellectual disabilities and I just know he's gonna grow up and be able to live his own life though, whether he'll be on his own or with a similar agency I just know he's gonna get there and I'm so happy to see a supportive parent. I cannot tell you how many individuals in the agency don't have that and grew up abused. You're doing amazing for being the outlier and supporting him.
I love listening to you while you do nails! Your voice makes the instructions feel easy and motivated me to start doing my own nails. I’m 51 and will keep doing my own nails, I agree it’s relaxing!
Your nails are bomb 🥰 and with my son he was born prematurely at 29 weeks via an emergency C Section, he was 2lbs 6oz, placed in NICU where he stayed for a month, and when he turned 4lbs 6oz plus was able to maintain his body head and breastfeed is when he could come home. I was 21 when I had him. He’s my little miracle baby too 🥳 they do say African American children in NICU or just born prematurely in generalhave a much higher survival rate over any other race and you can research that. Just a little fun fact. My son will be 2 in a few months by the way.

I am a nail tech. I retired in 2020 after 33 years. Lol DONE! Well I have been wanting my nails done but really didn’t want to do them, it’s been so long since I have done my own, takes forever. But when you said you love being in that creative space and just take your time. I was like that’s it. I can do my nails and if it takes 2 or 3 hours who cares!!! ENJOY THE PROCESS! I am so glad I came across this video. I do strictly acrylic. I want to learn the gel stuff too. Just haven’t stepped out. It would be just for me. I am 60 and after all the years of doing other people it just got to where I wanted someone else to do them, but then I would have to come home and reshape and file. Finally I was like that is a waste of money. So guess what? I am gonna work on my nails tomorrow. Keep doing whatcha doing cuz it is fun to watch you! Hugs ❤

I don’t have strong opinions about nails, I’m really just learning, but I just wanted to chime in as an autistic adult with many other disabilities and a caretaker/disability care career: I’m so happy to hear your take on your kids in general, and your casualty, not hiding but still private stance on these things - especially for M.J.
I’m new to the channel so I don’t know how often you talk about them, but the idea of keeping it brief and positive and addressing the challenges in general terms while keeping a protective, thoughtful air around their privacy - it’s extremely fulfilling to see, as an autistic adult.
Our parents and that generation didn’t have the knowledge or tools to offer accommodation and watching parents in our generation (I’m 32) shoulder the responsibility without making it wholly about themselves or addressing their children as problems is refreshing.
It’s hard, and it’s complicated, and as much as the disability itself, it seems like the world being unwilling to just adjust and help us the challenge. I love talking about the social model of disability rather than the medical model - and both are valid and part of the equation.
M.J. will develop skills and have so many opportunities because of your balance of pushing for his functionality and ability to conform where necessary and also because of your protectiveness, tenderness toward him and his mind/heart, and your awareness that inspires those choices.
Basically: Go Mama! It’s so nice to hear stories about people like you having families and success and I wish you all the best now and forever!
