Not a dancer but it really isn't Christmas until I've played the nutcracker suite!! Tchaik absolutely slaps my fave is the Arabian dance
Ok I just LOVE your apriciation for dance and the music, like it's not every day you find someone like that. But the Arabian dance is deff one of my faves too
Mine is the Arabian dance too
Is no one gonna take about how gorgeous she looked while taking about the sponsor??? Like honey how are you so effortlessly pretty, love you girl ❤️❤️❤️
Aw thank you!!!
that’s sooo fun you get to preform nutcracker for the first time it’s literally the best! ❤️ My studio does nutcracker every year! And I was Clara last year!🤪
ah no the high bun looks great on youuuu!!! you are such a beautiful dancer!
And my studio does a nutcracker every year, the thing I look forward to the most. nutcracker is so much fun
My studio dose nutcracker every year! I was the dewdrop last year. we are doing swan lake this semester and I'm dancing white swan and black swan! you did an amazing job dancing! I live in Grand Rapids and saw the nutcracker. I was also looking for you dancing in snow and flowers! you did such a good job! Can't wait to see you dance more!
Like many people in the comments, my studio has done the Nutcracker every year, both professional and junior. The junior Nutcracker consists of dancers in our company between the ages of 5 1/2 - 18 (school age).
For my first time, I was cast as an angel at around 6 years old. At 8 and 9 I was a Polichinelle and at 10 and 11 I was a candy cane. At 13 I was able to perform en pointe as a party scene girl and last year I was able to perform the role of Clara, being the first black girl in our company to do so. Of course, we had a modified performance due to covid, so for 2021 I auditioned and reprised the role. I was also strawberry marzipan this year. Next year I'm going for junior Sugarplum!
Our studio does nutcracker, but this year we did a shortened show in the window so people could see from outside as they walked past, and we did a nutcracker comedy! I was really funm
ahh, honestly you inspire me to keep going mackenzie! thank you for always making the best content and showing us all that we can dance. this video was awesome! loved your outfits too!
My studio does Nutcracker annually (along with two other performances that have classical excerpts and a few contemporary pieces) and I can't imagine growing up without it. Every year with rehearsals and watching the older kids during run throughs of the show, talking about what roles we wanted when we were older, sitting in the audiences of the two theaters we use when we were staging, and of course marveling over the Claras and Sugars. And when I got to do mini Clara (for each show we have a mini Clara who's around 12 and then an older Clara who does first act pa similar to royal ballet's version) that was a dream come true. This past year was my 9th nutcracker and I did Marzipan soloist (one of two since there's two female soloists, a male soloist, and then the corps), Waltz corps, snow corps, Marzi corps, and Columbine (the doll in prologue/party scene). Now at a point in life where I'm pursuing being a ballet teacher/mistress I'm comforted knowing while I only have a few more years of performing in Nutcracker I never have to really stop being apart of it.
I also did my first Nutcracker ever this past year! I had so much fun and I hope you had a great time as well!💕🌸
I never did it with my dance company but I did do it with the English youth ballet where I was the governess and Arabian
We do a tour for nutcracker to elementary schools and perform act 2 for the kids. This year we also got to do a special edition in the theatre 😊
My studio has Nutcracker. It's a really small studio, our company is literally called Little Ballet Theater, but we still have it every year (except last year because of covid, this year it was filmed) This year I was a Flower too, Arabian, Big Mouse, and Dream Fairy (Just opens the Land of Sweets and welcomes Clara and the prince if yours doesn't have it).
The studio owner wanted specific scenes to be perfect, like flowers, so we had to redo it like 3 times without breaks. The girl with asthma had an asthma attack because of it (she's fine)
I also started panicking during the dress rehearsal because I was almost late for something and my foot kept cramping during anything on pointe. It was just the rehearsal. Not even the show lol. It was fUn.
Both Nutcracker princes we've had have been named Joey. Our new Joey hypnotized me and did magic. He's pretty cool honestly, I bet you wish you had a Joey.
PARTY SCENE MUSIC IS A BOP
My studio’s done the Nutcracker for the past 9 years! It’s my favorite time of year and I got to play Clara this year❤️
hey mackenzie do you have any tips for going back on pointe after spraining your ankle? love your vids!
Its so crazy seeing that stage in your videos, I go there all the time to see shows! I wish I could have seen yours :)
"Not really a fancy person". Same here!
Can’t wait to watch this!!! Watching it now! Love your vids btw😜
We use the same Waltz of the Flowers costumes lol :) it looks rly nice on you! My schedule is rly similar to this lmao (I'm only at a pre-pro studio though ATM)
ooh pre-pro training! Do you guys have Intergrated performances(kids+ pros) or separate ones?
@@nadia1997 no, the studio I'm at has a professional training program (PTP) and we just have 40+ hours of dance a week 15+ r pointe classes and it's for 13-18 years old roughly. It's to prepare you to become a professional
Idk if that's what u meant but lol
Our directors came from professional studios like Miami ballet and NYC they've gotten us INCREDIBLE opportunities, this spring we've gotten the rights to learn and preform Balanchine's Serenade and Suzanne Ferrell has come to our studio to set it and we've had a couple of classes she taught. The head of the school used to dance under her (and she knows ppl if yk what I mean 😂) it's rare for professional company's to get the rights to some of Balanchine's works so the fact that a pre-pro studio like us was able to get it is just amazing lol
@@Hazel.Kovalik Gotcha! thought I'd ask because many companies treat pre-pro training differently. At my studio, pre-pro is only for students 16+ who are dedicated to a career in ballet. It's essentially professional work just a bit less intense, they perform with the company sometimes and will usually drop regular junior classes and train with the pros. The only classes they don't drop are usually advanced pointe and technique classes which are also required for level 6 students and up.
U WERE AMAZING!!! love watching u💜
I wish my dancer was able to chronicle her journey of Nutcracker. She was one of the Clara’s at PNB. But we can’t post any behind the scenes pictures or videos. Only the PD’s and company members are allowed to, I think because of the Balanchine trust and union contracts that allows them to.
I love your hair ! (Cheryl🥰❤️)
So glad to see this update and the behind the scenes peek.
love watching you dance!
this might be a stupid question but i'm unfamiliar with sugarplum doll😅, does it have something to do with the fairy?🌸
I know its not called that in most nutcrackers but in ours It’s in party scene and there’s two dolls one resembles the sugarplum fairy and the other one resembles the nutcracker prince!
@@dancingwithmackenzie ohh thanks now i know! Congratulations for the role, it's lovely!!💕💕
I was in the same Nutcracker as you and I was one of the party kids and you did great as the sugarplum doll!!
Our studio did Nutcracker last month I was one of the parents in the party scene as well as the makeup artist for Mother Ginger......and they also did Nutcracker in 2019
In my country Prodanza presents the Nutcracker I think every year, for dancers from all over the country. In 2016 I was a punchinella and in 2021 i perform marzipan, Clara's friends, fairies and a solo.
I don't do ballet anymore, but I was a party guest for two years (age 7 and 8) angel at age 9, and my final was polichinelle at age 10
We have done the nutcracker at my ballet but we did it about 4 years ago. We are doing sleeping beauty in a few months. My class is the garland dance as well as the noble ladies at the christening and wedding.
I actually go to the same ballet as you.
This year nutcracker(2021) I played as a tall fairy it was my first year for this role, I was also scared the platform because I thought I had to jump on even though there was stairs.
Then in 2019 I played as one of shortest roles in GRBS as Caverly( or the kids that are riding the horses in battle) it wasn’t the best role but I was happy to at least get the role.
This year I’m hopefully really want to get party boy, or fairy.
2022 Nutcracker Audition: Welp, as I know it, I’m neither a party boy or a fairy, I’m a mouse.
love the high bun on you! makes you look professional and mature
What was that show called with the girl doing the nut cracker in it’s about ballet 🩰 and I like watching things that include flexiblity since I am quite flexible myself
Edit1 :there’s basically this girl and she gets bullied by her teacher and someone in her group and she only has a dad I think I always Watched it but then I stopped and I have forgot the name of it but now I am flexible and understand what it’s about I want to watch it
Edit 2: if any of you are confused I do contortion and gymnastics not dance
Edit 3 for the people that are still confused here’s more info that I know/remember:
So there is this girl and she wants to learn ballet so she goes to ballet class but this mean girl there made fun of her for only having a dad and she lost her mum when she was young and has a picture of her mum and crys saying “I wish you were here rn” every time she looked at it and she got suspended by her teacher because she “wasn’t focused“ and her dad came and heard what they said I rlly want to watch it so can someone give me the name and I’ll reply with *yes* or *no* to let you know if you were right
Edit4so this is info if you can remember stuff about it but don’t remember the name I’ll add the info here and I’ll do another edit saying I’ve got the right thing so you all will know: she wore a light up tutu (I think they called it that in the thing and I can’t remember if it’s a movie or film but it’s on Netflix) for the nut cracker peformance
I love this you are a beautiful dancer
Congratulations! So awesome!
Our dance studio does Nutcracker, this year was my 2nd and I’m 13. Nutcracker is magical and amazing and I wish it wasn’t over, our last show was today. 😢 Loads of people cried because it was their last ever Nutcracker (9 people are in their last year at school so it’s their last Nutcracker with us 😭)
