This is so timely Andrew, as I've just plucked up the courage to try some outdoor sketching. I recently came across your channel and have binge watched all your tutorials. Your way of teaching has given me the confidence to 'have a go'. Thank you so much. Now I'm off to watch part 2 😊
Brilliant I love your tutorials. I'm new at sketching and water colour I have learned so much watching your content. Thank you and have a wonderful day😀
Good morning Mr.Pitt and family, What a beautiful place to paint and just down the road from your home ! Loved this tutorial and I'm so glad you decided to do another series , it gives one time to languish each step. Such a lovely painting. I am learning so much from you. I especially like the stone wall and the front door with its awning. Thank you
Hello Mr. Pitt. Thank you for sharing these video. I have learned a lot from them. Just would like to share this that in Chinese brushes the Chinese Character “wolf hair” is actually referring to Weasel hair. If we translate Weasel from Chinese directly/literally to English we will get “Yellow Mouse Wolf’. That’s why Weasel hair in Chinese was shortened as wolf hair.
This is terrific and helpful. The weather is warmer than usual so I have been able to do some sketching for a painting. In the past, I mostly worked from photos but I like the look of something painted from life better.
Enjoyed video found it interesting and informative and helpful for my needs since I dont have anyone to cut acrylic im going to go to the store and get some mats different sizes and attach them to hard plastic cutting board with duct tape..not quit as elgant as yours but im working my way to just having basic higher quality art material..hopefully this works out ok..
Thanks for getting in touch. As regards colour it’s nothing complicated: I simply use colours I like, that will look believable and go with the colours I already have on my paper. www.andrewpitt.co.uk
Andrew, I love all your work and how you explain every aspect of the painting process. You are such an invaluable resource technical knowledge and inspiration. Thank you so much.
Hi Andrew, I love doing watercolours eve though I’m very average, retired electrical engineer 70 early next year. Love your one touch approach and how you pick up a different colour every time you go back to your pallet. I like to paint using block pads or taping to a wooden board and I’m using Fontain 300 gram 140 pound NOT and Bockingford 1/4 imperial so 11”” x 15”. My problem is finding picture mounts for this size of picture. I e recently bought a pack of 5 professional picture mounts only to put my pictures up in my new summerhouse and they only just fit into the mounts, any suggestions? I also struggle with drawing from a photograph and trying to get the correct rations. Ive been cheating by measuring with a ruler and plotting my way round, it takes ages, I would much prefer to do it naturally. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into your teaching videos on u-tube. Regards John Lanaghan
I buy full sheets of watercolour paper. It is cheaper and can be cut in desired sizes. Drawing is about measuring and comparison of proportions. www.andrewpitt.co.uk

The cottage next to the graveyard.
What are the watercolours, are they Winsor and Newton? Thanks
Yes, all Winsor and Newton.
What pencil do you use for your rough sketch please?
The sketch was drawn with a 3B pencil.
Take a photograph??
And end up with a painting OF a photograph of the church cottages, rather than a painting of the cottages.
