The empire of finno-ugria has cores in Hungary and not Russia. "Ugria" stands in fact for Hungary and the finno-estonian and hungarian are in the same cultural family even if they are geographically distant

Estonia and Finland are Northern European while Hungary is Central.

nope, ive formed it in my game it only has cores on northern russia, also a way to bypass the 60 compliance barrier is to puppet the regions you need, and then when you complete the focus the game will give you the regions you have the cores
West Sami, east Sami, Finnsh, karelian, estonian, hungarian, ingrian, livonian, komi-zyrian, komi-peryak, mansi, mari, udmurt, erzya, moksha, khanty, ludic and votic. These are finno-urgic languages and many of them can be found in russia

At the end there, you did actually get a ton of cores, the resistance and compliance mapmode just takes a long ass time to update when you get new cores
No, the compliance map got updated the instant you get cores on them. He just forgot to switch on that mapmode.

While I agree, they have confirmed that Finland will get a focus tree when they make a Scandinavian Content Pack. Think Battle for the Bosporus.

my strategy with estonia is to form finno ugra, then unify baltics, research paratroopers and join the war against the uk, try to get brabant from Germany so all the french land invaded from the benelux goes to you, quickly paratroop england and send your army to the isles. around this time the Soviets declare war, I don't remember if i built forts or not but the war isn't that hard when you've got french and british puppets
Funny that most of Estonian players decides to directly annex Northern Scandinavia instead of let your Swedish/Norway puppet control it for the time being.
Since in the focus tree for both "Proclaim Finno-Ugra" and "Estonia is Scandinavic" it's allowed for your puppet to hold their cores, and when the focus is completed, they would give them to you as your cores, significantly reduces lives lost for garrisoning them.....
I'd say it's a great foresight from the developers since the Baltics has little manpower to spare unless we core Poland peacefully.

The Soviet puppet one is decently fun. You get a focus for a free factory for every focus you do on the left side of the tree(ally or axis investments) which a few of them provide factories too. I did strat bomber belarus and we beat the axis.

I really like how you can form finno-ugria when the ugric part is nowhere near in there. Those are the hungarians (and a few small people in russia) believe it or not.

legit question, why does everyone go finno-ugra? every estonia video ive seen does that one instead of Scandinavia. playing estonia and getting cores on all of the roof of europe and wielding the might of BEEG ESTONIA has become my favorite nation to play outside of reforming austria-hungary. i mean you can get cores on finland with the other one too. so why does everyone pick the just finland one?

I did a Japanese playthrough over the past few days after not playing HOI for a few months and god damn pushing into Russia (from the Caucuses, Central Asia and the Far East) was pure misery. By the end of it the only front that was moving was in central Russia (with brain-dead Axis AI only really just plugging gaps) and even then I had to resort to moving my tanks back and forth between the supply hubs and the front line to push anywhere.
Achievement videos will be awesome, I really wanna see those now
