Matt, always clean the rotors with some brake cleaner and change gloves when you put the rotors. Furthermore you should avoid touching the pads with oily gloves. Just to be sure.
Other than that, awesome as always!

Brakes optimized when placed inboard as far as weight distribution. But also placement is due to packaging constraints with suspension and upright clearance.

I believe that clear sleeve on the front brake line at 40:48 belongs centered inside the grommet. It allows the brake line to move through the grommet with less resistance and protects the grommet.
    Cheers.

Brake caliper location can be chosen from a weight perspective. You could have them lower on the wheels to get a lower center of gravity or on the inside te have more weigt to the middle of the car like in this case. Aerodynamics can also play a role, if there is a certain path the air takes that could be cooling the brakes, you might want to place the brakes in that location. An offroading car might have them higher to not damage the brake system.

  • @denniswagner3962

The calipers are mounted like that to lower the polar moment of inertia around the pivot point of the chassis.

  • @kscuz2848

Designed that way for weight distribution. Towards the center and low.

You need to check out the Motive Products - Pressure Bleeder.
It's make bleeding brakes a One person job, by sending pressurized fluid from the fluid reservoir to the brake bleeders. One of the best investments in car maintenance I have made. Bleed an entire system in under an hour.

Hey Matt, don't know if you want to get better brake kit than the Brembo GT since your most use of the car is street not track but the AP Racing 9660 by Essex is the way better brake kit compared to the Brembo GT or GTS series. The AP racing kit is a lot lighter than the Brembo while still having 6 piston front 4 piston rear and the same braking capability if not better. The brake pads will be also easier to change due to the back of the caliper is open and the caliper its self is forged. They will have the anti-knocking clip too for street use. I have this kit for my M2 on track but on street with street pads it is just like stock but brakes so so so much better.

  • @warpspeed9877

They are bolted this way so that their weights are near to the center of mass of the car: the front ones are placed backwards and the rears are placed frontwards.

No reason to separate the calliper to mounting bracket with the factory brakes. Just undo the 16mm bolts for the bracket and take it all off as one assembly.

  • @Antimatter.
    @Antimatter. 5 лет назад +1

Nice job Matt! You should look into getting a Motive power bleeder they work fantastic, with that as you bleed you can use a rubber mallet and tap around the caliper to rid of any air pockets in the caliper.

Matt, an easier way to get gloves on when your hands are clammy is to get them 50% of the way on and blow air with your mouth into the wrist like you are blowing up a balloon. While they are inflated your fingers will get into their places much easier. Cheers!

  • @puvid3

The reason why (from what I hear) the brake calipers are facing toward each other is because to make their weight to be closer to the middle of the car.

Quick tip Matt, next time please clean off the wheel hub surface AND the rotor surfaces thoroughly with brake cleaner and dry off with a dust-less rag/towel and wear new, clean gloves to avoid grease and debris getting all on the rotor surface. Which brake pad/rotor bedding procedure did you use?
