Yeah for all the people saying he looks happy, he definitely does not. He looks tortured. He looks like a man that's been fighting his whole life yet continuously let's himself down.
When someone is depressed, even the worst cases, there are also times someone can genuinely laugh and enjoy themselves. I think he's actually enjoying himself here, but that's also where the danger lies for someone who suffers from manic depression/bipolar disorder... the higher your mood goes, the harder the fall afterwards.

@@RBRM3 - you'd be surprised how easy it can be. Don't underestimate what a tiny act of kindness - even a simple smile - can have on a person. I know this personally because someone I didn't know all that well told me that I did a small kindness to him, and it make him re-think ending his life. I had no idea it was that impactful.

Faking happiness is exactly what depressed people do as to not come across weak to other people. When someone asks "how are you" and you reply "good" but dying inside is the daily struggle for the depressed person.

Depression isn’t some kind of sadness or just plain emotions. It is a mental disorder that’s why it symptoms are unnoticeable and you cannot barely tell if someone is suffering from it.

The way Chester looks to Mike in the end tells a lot of things..I mean Mike is the wise guy with all the right words to say in the right time, he knows when the joke is going bad or too far, he interferes before it gets weird and cringy..that's why Chester looks at him like that in interviews and meetings, Mike is guiding him and helps him sometimes with a look sometimes with a smile, and he gets it right away.. sometimes Mike does the same thing with Joe, because like Chester, Joe's humor sometimes gets so awkward or rude..these guys are communicating in a deep level, they stop each other before drifting away or stepping on a mine.. great band true friends

I've been dealing with depression all my life. And there's a point when you can have fun (after a huge effort) but always having like a demon on ur shoulder. You can't stop it or make it go away, never. Its always there hunting you. And once the 5 or 10 fun minutes are gone, the Presion of trying to be fun goes away too, and you go back to the normal you. Feeling like crapp, wanting to simply die. So people think, wow this guy is cool.

Prozac (fluoxetine) might be helpful when combined with activities that make you value life. For me it's my kids. Emile Durkheim already shown int his works in late 19th century that people who have kids are less likely to commit suicide. Drugs alone aren't enough, but can be helpful when combined with therapy and some changes in lifestyle. Getting a hobby, setting goals, working or studying, anything that can occupy your thoughts with productive things. We all need to have goals in order to feel compeled to wake up every day and work to make it happen. That's my take on depression from all I1ve learned throughout the years.

Imagine being in Ken's place for a joyful ride, and then 6 days later you hear that great singer who sat by you, is dead. That's another level of heartbreak. Even thinking about that is hard.
Really sad watching, when Frusciante wrote this with Anthony he was very depressed. It’s a dark song yet so bright and amazing at the same time, the power of music. RIP Chester.

Ironically I was in rehab when Chester took his life. My husband came to visit and with tears told me the news knowing I LOVED this band. Seeing my incredible sadness, my therapist broke the "rules" and played a Linkin Park video for me. Such a huge loss. ❤

Chester embraced alot of different genres of music. Had a broad knowledge which is the sign of a true artist. He sang Adele in concert for eg. Such a sad story seeing this and what was to come days later.
