I am black and have heard many great singers in my 58yrs of living. but some of my fondest memories are from white artists. Elvis, the Everly Brothers, Rightous Brothers, Beatles, Classiv 4, Young Rascals, Three Dog Night, Creedance Clear water revival, Steve Perry and Journey, Jack Jones, Andy Williams etc etc, The casual passer by my apartment back in Brooklyn NYC in the 60s and early 70s and you would Swear that there were White residents with all of the white artists. Nope. my mother appreicated All music and she introduced me to music other than R&Bs which I love but I DO love my blue eyed soul brothers and sisters...Lulu, Dusty Springfield, LESLIE GORE my girl..Dusty and Leslie were consistent on the air. a new song every so many weeks. and all good. How I miss the 60s!
That's Rock'n Roll! Suddenly, everybody liked, sang and danced to the same music. Its not a coincidence that the Civil Rights Movement happened at the same time. Sadly, we seemed to have gotten away from that. Music today just isn't as likable as the 50 - 60s era.
Don and Phil are so cute. This is such a gorgeous song, which I've learned a lot about in the last week. Apparently, not enough though. LOL. Thanks, AGJ, for sending it my way. My dad's favorite singer was Perry Como, so I grew to appreciate him even as a child. Love it. *****.
Great harmony for sure but there are some people in the music biz who claim that Don had the greatest pop voice ever. I would have scoffed at that until I heard him sing live. It may be true.
