Another informative video for You Tube. And what a wonderful painting this is. Join Smoothie77 on his Patreon page. He is the best teacher on the internet and really engages with his members on the community section. Unbelievable value and expert tuition.
I have long loved monochrome photographs because of of the tones in the image. In fact one of the reasons for preferring black and white photography is that I find the colour destracing. I also love the shear drama of the old Film Noir images with its low key and high contract.
Sooooo beautiful!!!! ❤❤❤ That's a great idea using same color for the whole drawing!!! Never thought about it!!! I'm going to try. I'm always afraid to use watercolor....afraid to ruin my drawing.. Thank you so much.
😂 I like the suggestion to hit the dislike button twice, that was clever! This painting was beautifully done, great study! Thank you for sharing your gifts with the world!

Love your suggestion to compare black and white copies of the reference photo and your finished watercolor piece.

I’m going to sound stupid I know but how come the graphite doesn’t smudge when the watercolour is applied?
Clean water semi-fixes the graphite to the paper and stops it from smudging
As usual another great video. I am teaching a course on Urban Sketching this fall and will use some of the advice you have given! 👍👍🇨🇦
Thanks Jeff, I hope the course goes really well for you.👍
How do you keep your palette so clean?
