I've been in Construction for a little over 45 years and i've never seen a piece of equipment like that. That thing is just plain cool Andrew, i hope you enjoy and make some good money with it. I Decided to retire when my wife passed away last Monday night and sell my tools and equipment and donate the hundreds of hand tools to the local trade school to help the younger generation get a good start in the trades. I've enjoyed your videos very much and they offered me a wonderful escape from the rigors of caring for my wife night and day for the last few months. She is at Peace now and so am i. I'll be selling our home here in Maine and moving down South to Virginia to live near my daughter. Thank you for the videos, i've enjoyed them very much and will continue too. Know this Andrew, your videos are high quality and touch peoples lives in a fun and good way and that shows you are good people. So give the old man Levi and the young buck Cody and the rest of the cool pups a hug for me and i'll be looking forward to the next video. And for all those people that give these videos a down thumb vote, you need to lighten up and cut him and yourself some slack. Andrew is a go getter and a hard working enterprising man and he is quite unique in this day and age. Stop being so petty and critical and look at yourself before you find petty fault with his videos. It's his life, his videos and content. If you think you can doing better then please, go away and do so. He earned those up votes and the content for the videos cost him thousands of dollars and many hours out of his life to make something nice for EVERYONE to enjoy. Peace to all and enjoy life...it's shorter than you think. Tom Cooke

Just a few of words of advice because I hope to see you around for quite a while still:
    1) Always wear a helmet or better yet a helmet/faceshield combo when cutting trees,
    2) Always use a safety harness that's properly tied off when you're in a bucket and,
    3) Limbing trees is a whole different ballgame than toppling them over with dozer or excavator - you'll get seriously hurt or worse if you don't get proper training first.
Glad that tree didn't do too much damage.

But one simple word of advice from someone whose operated bucket trucks for many years professionally... back up to the tree as it is set up with a rear mounted bucket for more reach from the rear and to keep the tracked “truck” part of machine away from falling limbs/logs that can and will damage it. I’d love to have a machine like that, nice find!

A bit of advice Andrew never work one of these when on your own imagine if you are up in the bucket working away and the engine cuts out you are then stuck there with no way of getting down there should be an emergency valve down where the turn table is than you can release the pressure and lower the top boom down allowing the person in the bucket to be lowered to safety

@@pcb1962 That's because there is no "accident report" when the thing starts to fail, and you jump out of the bucket onto the roof near you--- or you jump into the tree that you're trimming and watch that thing tip over while you're hanging safely in the tree. Nothing gets reported, but these things happen in slow motion, and more often than someone getting hurt. I've witnessed this myself, with a trailer bucket. The thing blew a seal or something and just started to fall toward the ground, and my brother bailed out of the bucket onto our roof, since we were right next to the house, and that bucket fell all the way down and slamed into the tailgate of my truck. Nothing was reported, I just took it back and demanded a refund. If he would have been strapped in, it would have been ugly. That thing hit in a full free fall, and smashed half way through my tailgate. Just saying, in my experience-- I wouldn't want to be strapped in. I'm a tree climber, I ran my own crew for years--- I'd much rather be on a rope in the tree than in a bucket anyway.

Love the little tracked bucket, it should definitely prove extremely useful.
    NOW FOR THE LECTURE:
    SAFETY!!!
I know you normally demonstrate good safety practices, BUT THIS TIME YOU FAILED MISERABLY!!!
You were working with a chain saw from a bucket, and there were times when you were cutting over your head. VERY DANGEROUS.
So, let's see, what should you have done... Start with personal protective equipment: harness, (a professional sawyer was killed in Massachusetts last week! by a fall from a bucket) helmet (especially since you were cutting over your head - a no no), goggles, hearing protection, chain saw chaps and chain saw jacket.
Good safety practices: as you learned (the hard way) never park the rig in the fall zone of the timber, always extend the bucket at least 12 to 15 feet from the unit, even further when possible; always keep the saw below shoulder level (to prevent kickbacks into your face) ; rope off EVERY segment before cutting it.
FINALLY, never work timber from a bucket without a spotter.
I very rarely comment on RUclips videos, but I follow you, like you you, your channel and the content, so I felt it necessary to speak up. Safety is too important to stay silent about.
    Stay safe, Bruce

Speaking as someone that’s been a Lineman for a communications company for 20 years, and has spent a fair amount of time working in bucket trucks, I’d like to go on record stating that THING looks like a death trap. I STRONGLY suggest you look at PICTURES of an Altec mini digger derrick, which comes with a Bucket attachment - and compare how wide their outriggers reach - compared to that THING you just bought. At the VERY LEAST, PLEASE , get outrigger pads for that death machine if you insist on using it.
Also, under no circumstances should you ever use the arm of that bucket to lift UP and apply pressure under a stiff tree branch - unless you want to learn what it feels like to get catapulted out of that bucket if the branch breaks. Nor should you ever ask anyone to lift the outriggers and move the machine while the boom is unstowed. The base of that machine even with outriggers deployed seems extremely narrow, especially when you consider that was ever intended to support an aerial lift.
If you insist on keeping that - you want to search Bucket truck hooks on Amazon, or Blanket Hooks. You can use those to hang a tool bag or tools inside or outside the bucket. I also suggest a cordless electric chainsaw, harness, shock absorbing lanyard , and a non vented electrically rated hard hat. Thats a non insulated boom if it not obvious, so lets agree it will never go near primary power lines, or be used to trim branches touching or even near primary lines. The tracks on that machine will probably melt.
Does that even have an emergency lower function up in the bucket? Does it work? Whats you’re plan if the machine dies or runs out of fuel while youre 30 feet in the air? Think ahead.

Those are fun little machines. The railroad I currently work for rented a bucket truck as well as one with a dump body for us to remove overhanging tree limbs with, as well as to remove stacks of used railroad ties with. I liked it so much, that I just bought a Wacker Neuson DT15 (although this is miniature compared to the full size machine I used). I looked at a few like what you have, but I decided I needed one with a dump bed which could swivel.
