This is me- When I have the cash I will be moving to an iron like this- I really like the hybrid looking ones. I often think that us elder golfers are forgotten when it come to choice, not any more
Thanks for the feedback, there's a few HL irons in this years high handicap iron video if you're interested. Link below. ruclips.net/video/OyWFqhOgyS8/видео.html
Love your approach to this subject on high launching irons...Was thinking of the Mizuno 225 Pro irons but now I guess I should get tested for the Mizuno JPX 223 HM HL irons...stronger lofts but are much less expensive...The set of irons I play now are Wilson Staff FG V6 ......Thanks...
Thanks for taking the time to say so Allah, really appreciate your feedback. With so many new HL options coming onto the market we expect to be doing plenty more on the subject over the coming months.
Good video can't agree more 63 and lowest handicap I've ever been switched to Cleveland Altitude hybrid irons was 20 handicap went as low as 12 great launch and stop quite happily hit 4 & 5 off the deck won division 1 Stableford last weekend
Thanks Don, really appreciate your input. Great to hear you can hit 4 & 5 iron off the deck and generate decent stopping power, something that would be a struggle with stronger lofts.
I am at the swing speed ( mid 70's with irons/ 90 mph with Driver) that makes these type of irons an option when my current irons wear out. I have tried the Cleveland HB Launcher irons with A flex graphite shafts and thought they were very playable.
Neil makes a great point, stronger irons let me hit it farther, but also LOWER ball flight. Thus, not a functional landing angle. I have to hit the front of the green and HOPE I can keep it on the green. That it for a 72-75 mph swing (69 yo), 7 handicap. So I got fitted into the 923 Hot Metal HL. HIT them longer, higher, better dispersion, and they stop on the green.
Callaway Big Bertha Iron 2023 will be released for presale tomorrow. Loft is 30 for 7 iron and tons of tungsten. What do you think of this iron? I know it is expensive but seems the tech would help slow swing golfers.
The Big Bertha 2023 isn't going to be released here in the UK Micheal, so we've not seen the specs or tried them. Lots of tungsten will help a bit for sure but if they're reasonably strong lofts it's likely they're still going to be a struggle at slower speeds.
I game the Cleveland turbos for a year and 1⁄2, And now just received my halo's with grafite shaft, Best decision I ever made is playing hybrid irons They are so easy to hit. Everybody says they are so ugly, My response is looks doesn't do anything for your Scorecard. Just a thought !!!
Thanks for the great video. Please take the women approach next. There are specific women’s clubs (like Kalea) and then there are clubs with women’s shafts (like Mizuno, or Stealth). Choosing clubs for women seems to be even harder than men’s.
Great video for those of us who are a little slower now. Thanks.
Pleasure, thanks for the feedback John.

Completely agree, slower speed golfers have never had such good choice.
This is a terrific video! Since it's a year ago, how does the 2024 lineup compare to these listed? Thanks!

G 425 Hybrids for me. :). Good review though. :) Excellent work and presentation as always !!!
Thanks as always Joseph.
Great video guys! Love this!
Please review the different brands HL, slow swing irons. I’d watch a video from every major manufacturer if you did
Thanks for the feedback Pistons, we'll see what we can do, there's certainly a trend to many more HL options right now. Watch this space.
Gear video guys, I've gone with the Halos and really looking forward to using them
Thanks, let us know how you get on with them.

Lovely stuff Marc, thanks for your input. HL irons have become a growing trend over the last couple of years.

You mentioned a G425 replacement. The new G430 has a 41 degree PW. Ridiculous.

Great stuff, we're completely with you, play whatever helps you score best - why make the game harder than it needs to be?
