The mystery girl is not a gem. When the war ended and tons of gems were in a rush to get back to homeworld, it was because the diamonds corrupted all of the remaining gems on earth. The reason the crystal gems didn't become corrupt was because rose used her shield to block the wave of corruption. So if another quartz is on earth and has been on earth since the war, they have to be corrupted.
NOT ALL ROSE QUARTZES HAVE SHIELDS!!!!!! Ruby(the one that's half of garnet) has one gauntlet as her weapon. Eyeball(also a ruby) has a dagger as a weapon. This means that gems of the same kind have different weapons.

I think she's a human. The Rose Quartz theory is interesting, but her skin (and eye?) colours don't match those of rose quartz (Rose's light peach skin is still close enough, and she doesn't exactly have coloured eyes, just black). She also has piercings, which would be a bit weird for a gem. Plus, I think the point was to show Pearl pink hair was possible on humans and to have her instantly crush on someone (which S's appearance being similar to Rose's made possible). I'd love to see more of her, though! Imagine if she became a recurring character, like Vidalia, or if she was seen even more often! Steven can never have too many moms.

I don't think so. Just because she's a Rose doesn't mean she's anything like the Rose we know. I think it could present an interesting story. Pearl could spend time with her, constantly comparing her to Steven's mom, and as the Mystery girl sees this happening she confronts Pearl but because Pearl does care for the new gem, she slowly starts to let go of the old Rose to move on to someone new. I think it's a nice possibility. Nothing wrong with loving another Rose just like there's nothing wrong with loving another blonde. Just because they look similar, or in this case are the same type of gem, doesn't mean they're anything alike as people.

Pearl needs to move on and this Mystery Girl looking like Rose is not helping. Seriously for all the episodes that's centric around her compared to the other gems who don't get nearly as much spotlight, her character has not gotten much better. Her obsession with Rose is a huge detriment to her character when it involves her projecting her image of Rose onto other people (i.e Steven) and Sheena may be a victim of this too. I know everyone's excited about Pearl probably getting a gf but honestly I don't think she's ready for a relationship at all especially with how she acts.

Rebecca sugar has said in an interview that she hates one episode characters. I feel like this is going to start a story arc not only about pearl moving on, but also understanding roses love for Greg.
I would like pearl and this girl to just be friends, I feel like it would be too "perfect" for pearl to end up with a girlfriend. Pearl would be an even better character if she's not given an easy out. I want pearl to heal without needing coincidence or luck to help her. If this mystery girl ends up being just a Rose-replacement, a lot of the strength and depth that pearl currently has wouldn't really matter because she just happened to meet a perfect girl. HOWEVER, if this girl isn't who pearl wants her to be, isn't rose, and Pearl recognizes that and tries to see this girl for who she is, this could be a pretty satisfying way to let Pearl accept that rose is gone. Really this episode is just throwing a coin in the air and hoping the writers make whatever decision will be best for the show as a whole

I think she's a human. The Rose Quartz theory is interesting, but her skin (and eye?) colours don't match those of rose quartz (Rose's light peach skin is still close enough, and she doesn't exactly have coloured eyes, just black). She also has piercings, which would be a bit weird for a gem.
Plus, I think the point was to show Pearl pink hair was possible on humans and to have her instantly crush on someone (which S's appearance being similar to Rose's made possible). I'd love to see more of her, though! Imagine if she became a recurring character, like Vidalia, or if she was seen even more often! Steven can never have too many moms.

I don't think so. Just because she's a Rose doesn't mean she's anything like the Rose we know. I think it could present an interesting story. Pearl could spend time with her, constantly comparing her to Steven's mom, and as the Mystery girl sees this happening she confronts Pearl but because Pearl does care for the new gem, she slowly starts to let go of the old Rose to move on to someone new. I think it's a nice possibility. Nothing wrong with loving another Rose just like there's nothing wrong with loving another blonde. Just because they look similar, or in this case are the same type of gem, doesn't mean they're anything alike as people.

Pearl needs to move on and this Mystery Girl looking like Rose is not helping. Seriously for all the episodes that's centric around her compared to the other gems who don't get nearly as much spotlight, her character has not gotten much better. Her obsession with Rose is a huge detriment to her character when it involves her projecting her image of Rose onto other people (i.e Steven) and Sheena may be a victim of this too. I know everyone's excited about Pearl probably getting a gf but honestly I don't think she's ready for a relationship at all especially with how she acts.
And when I say other gems I mean Amethyst and Garnet, just so you know. (There's Ame's recent arc but compared to Pearl they still don't get as much attention).

I would like pearl and this girl to just be friends, I feel like it would be too "perfect" for pearl to end up with a girlfriend. Pearl would be an even better character if she's not given an easy out. I want pearl to heal without needing coincidence or luck to help her.
If this mystery girl ends up being just a Rose-replacement, a lot of the strength and depth that pearl currently has wouldn't really matter because she just happened to meet a perfect girl. HOWEVER, if this girl isn't who pearl wants her to be, isn't rose, and Pearl recognizes that and tries to see this girl for who she is, this could be a pretty satisfying way to let Pearl accept that rose is gone.
Really this episode is just throwing a coin in the air and hoping the writers make whatever decision will be best for the show as a whole

There's nothing wrong with speculation, but there's nothing wrong with me pointing out flaws in a theory, either. Rebecca Sugar is great at adding new depth to the series without upsetting facts that are already in place, and I don't see why that would change.
