The Grand Gallery was an internal location to move cut stone blocks uphill by using a counter weight system The holes in the wall are the locations for the anchors where the cut stone rested between successive lifts. It is also why the stones on the top have a hole in the center of each block. The applied lifting force is concentric to the stone when the stone is either lifted vertically, or when it is slid uphill in the grand gallery. Thus the stone will not rotate and get stuck when being slid uphill. Also it now makes sense that the Grand Gallery was a Construction Corridor that would project outside the Pyramid and down a long ramp. If you want to raise stones uphill, do not haul them up hill. Get long ropes and walk down the slope pulling the stone up the slope. It also makes sense as to why there are polished grooves. It was a giant pulley system, so a smaller number of men walking downhill could move giant stones uphill . The counter weights can then be used to pull the pulley system back down to the entrance ( as all those ropes would be very heavy ), so they could attach to the next block with a concentric hole in it. Being a structural engineer that has worked for most of the last 56 years in and around construction made this solution so obvious. The Egyptian did not work hard, they worked SMART.

@@testboga5991We'd know so much more if they'd close the site down for a year, let the researchers alone, get the research published and open it back up, but I suspect the value from tourism to the pyramids is so great to the Egyptian economy, there will never be proper research done and the pyramids will be turned into a marketing gimmick more and more

Watching your videos and seeing how Egyptian "Tourism & Archeology" authorities treat Egyptian cultural heritage really brings into focus for me a quote I never really understood before: "familiarity breeds contempt".

Something I always respected about the show Time Team was that they published almost all of their digs (something like 90something% of them). Around the time the show ended a decade ago I remember coming across estimates that said only half or less of all digs are published (talking strictly about modern archaeology, not including the stuff done by antiquarians or whatnot). Nothing is perfect and there are criticisms to launch against Time Team. But at the very least, in that realm that is the merger of research and entertainment (note: not infotainment or whatever you want to call it where the show is the most important thing), they did a really good job. Yeah they cared about making a good show, but they also cared about the archaeology (most of the time).
@@tgd2 I'm well aware. Being released from the constriction of making hour long episodes was a good thing, but something has felt off with them. Specifically the hosting. It doesn't _need_ Tony Robinson, but it does need someone to play the everyman and they haven't done that well. In short, the new episodes are good for people who are familiar with archaeology, but I don't think they are as welcoming of newcomers as the tv show was. Which was a big part of what made the show great.
I suspect that a lot of documentation for TT digs was done by local organizations. It was very common for TT to be brought in to assist with a dig. TT didn't show much other than local museums that I recall. Hmmmmm. I wish upon a star that we could continue to have good TT.
Time Team is a different kettle of fish. They weren’t holding back data so only they could profit from it. They only profited if it was published BUT there are only so many episodes than can be bought and aired by a TV channel. Not seeing episodes was more to do with gaining air time than hiding data.
Yeah same - I wrote to World Scan Project a year ago when I wanted to 3D print the great pyramid with a single-stone detail - and they responded that they don't have plans to open source the data.
There's also the aspect that a lot of Hollywood and Entertainment people think the average viewer can't properly think for themselves to admire those deep complex topics, so they dumb down anything they make, turning relevant historical content into generics superficial things, that when they don't just make up things to "make it more interesting" like the alien things
It's right here at 6:30. This used to be the actual clip of Mark Lehner plugging the paid data. Now it's just History for Granite quoting the clip. In other words, either Mark Lehner or the company who paid him to mouthpiece their product called the strike.
Knowledge belongs (or should belong) in the public domain. As someone whose life's pursuit is knowledge it infuriates me that others secret it away, making it privy only to those with money or status. I watched the original and am more than happy to invest time in a rewatch to support the sharing of knowledge. Keep fighting the good fight.
It's the same story with Art Institutions denying the sharing of any conservation files or providing high resolution images of works in the public domain.
Great Vid, love the channel. I love finding channels from legitimate researchers with a passion for discovering and sharing truth, as opposed to what seems like a majority who hold out for money or fame or both. Those with a real passion for the knowledge usually stand out, in a good way and we need more people like you to advance our civilization instead of continuing the downward trend of those who only lust after wealth and notoriety.
Sad truth is the reality will never be as entertaining and interesting to 99.9 % of people as speculations. Modern Egyptians figure it out long time ago, they have perfected mystery capitalisation and they have no intention to do anything that would harm their business model.
Oxford Egyptologist Sir Alan H. Gardiner once wrote that “It must never be forgotten that we are dealing with a civilization thousands of years old and one of which only tiny remnants have survived. What is proudly advertised as Egyptian history is merely a collection of rags and tatters.” Dr Kent Weeks agreed with Sir Alan, stating, “I think that basically is true. What’s interesting about the source material from ancient Egypt, though, is those rags and tatters are of a more numerous and a more varied kind than almost any other civilization on the face of the Earth. You name it, every kind of material imaginable has come down to us; not complete, but tantalizing rags and tatters. And it’s a wonderful thing to have all of this material, but it’s also extremely frustrating because it means there’s that much more room for argument and doubt.”

What I like about this channel is not only the amazing and original science being done in video format, but the wonderful *theory of science* being developed as well. Good science isn’t just collecting data and having an opinion, but also showing your work and sharing it with others to verify. Secrets are fundamentally anti-scientific.
here to comment the same again then, another banger, i could stay still and listen to you talk for hours about the pyramids, what an amazing *history* teller. shout out wirtual.
Absolutely superb. Another mic-drop video that completely exposes the so-called experts that are there for capitalistic intentions and not to simply educate.
A video of secret hidden information needing to be public being made into a secret hidden information that gets reposted. Egyptology.
Capitalism. Just like what most of current "egyptology" is.
@@testboga5991We'd know so much more if they'd close the site down for a year, let the researchers alone, get the research published and open it back up, but I suspect the value from tourism to the pyramids is so great to the Egyptian economy, there will never be proper research done and the pyramids will be turned into a marketing gimmick more and more
I love this channel cause Bro is just straight up taking shots, naming names and dropping bombs. Like I honestly never was too interested in the Pyramids, but I'm just rooting for this man to win his nerd war.
your videos are worth watching multiple times ;)
One of your best video's, it summons the facination for pyramids up for me .
Absolutely love this channel! Thank you for all the hard work! Appreciate it! Great stuff
I’m so grateful for your efforts. First rate content and unwavering dedication to objective evidence leading the narrative and not narrative driven “evidence” .
The venom dripping from that Kuh-WOTE at 6:30 ☠
Copy stuck because it contained "Pyramid Data Nobody Can See"
One of your BEST presentations, maybe the BEST.
For better or worse, the first time i watched the video i wasn't paying attention, now im watching with full attention and i'm amazed by what ive lost on the first time, thank you.
Watching your videos and seeing how Egyptian "Tourism & Archeology" authorities treat Egyptian cultural heritage really brings into focus for me a quote I never really understood before: "familiarity breeds contempt".
Absolutely rewatching.
You wouldn’t be watching if you knew the black ethiopians built ALL of this when the other race was a caveman-neanderthal in europes caucus mountains. You’ll be upset like many others. Mainly the white arab who was in caves as well.
So excited I found your channel. Great video. Looking forward to learning a lot more from you.
They're back, patreon and youtube supported instead of TV channel supported.
@@teeanahera8949 I meant published in journals.
New sub here from Quebec ! I subscribed to Anyestee's channel because of you ! Thanks for sharing your passion !
Thanks for the reupload.
I love this channel so much. The way you commentate and describe these marvels of enginuity is like poetry. Thank you!
Love your work mate! We need the access!
Keep on truckin’! Obviously, you’re making an impact with objectively questioning the “old guard.” 👌
The first upload of this video included all the data you can’t see.
Yeah same - I wrote to World Scan Project a year ago when I wanted to 3D print the great pyramid with a single-stone detail - and they responded that they don't have plans to open source the data.
I was so excited for a new video and so soon! Then it’s just a reload which fine I was going to rewatch this anyway 🤣 but far best channel on RUclips
The purpose of the grand gallery was part of the counterweight system used to raise the heavier blocks of granite in the pyramid. That is so obvious.
looks like ill just have to watch it again
same! and comment all over the place to boost engagement
@@OscarFrosty Agreed.
This video is getting more views from the same people that watched the original
There's also the aspect that a lot of Hollywood and Entertainment people think the average viewer can't properly think for themselves to admire those deep complex topics, so they dumb down anything they make, turning relevant historical content into generics superficial things, that when they don't just make up things to "make it more interesting" like the alien things
Could you say what was caused the strike?
It's right here at 6:30. This used to be the actual clip of Mark Lehner plugging the paid data. Now it's just History for Granite quoting the clip. In other words, either Mark Lehner or the company who paid him to mouthpiece their product called the strike.
@@Asterra2Mark probably doesn't scan RUclips - i hope...
Always giving your channel honorable mentions, few others have earned this respect! Please keep up the amazing work…🖤
As always, great work. Don't stop
Casual Egypt lover since childhood, am glad people like you exist. Traffic boost.
Pharaoh's Room service delivery, Love it!
Thank you for the reupload. I enjoy your videos and hate to see them being definanced
Watching it for the second time. very interesting episode and some useful information. Thanks
Keep up the great work!!
It's the same story with Art Institutions denying the sharing of any conservation files or providing high resolution images of works in the public domain.
Really nice narration
Great Vid, love the channel. I love finding channels from legitimate researchers with a passion for discovering and sharing truth, as opposed to what seems like a majority who hold out for money or fame or both. Those with a real passion for the knowledge usually stand out, in a good way and we need more people like you to advance our civilization instead of continuing the downward trend of those who only lust after wealth and notoriety.
Thank you for reporting!
The one video on ancient Egypt that touches an important element of ALL OTHER videos on ancient Egypt. Even better the second time 🙂
He's close to the truth. When unknown users report you, you know you're not far from the truth
youtube deleted my comment(s) about the controlled demolitions of 9/11...can't hide the truth forever...
the photo work you did is AMAZING
Sad truth is the reality will never be as entertaining and interesting to 99.9 % of people as speculations. Modern Egyptians figure it out long time ago, they have perfected mystery capitalisation and they have no intention to do anything that would harm their business model.
Have you ever done a video on the Pyramid of Neferirkare?
Real scientists publish research
I would support military action to take over the area for a year or two while we actually do research so that the Egyptian government cannot impede it
@@MindBodySoulOk good grief that is so unbelievably childish
I hope so. I am concerned about the “Dead Internet” theory showing we are losing what has been available in the past.
I'm very glad I've found this channel
The Ministry of State for Antiquities should insist that data be provided publicly within a certain timeframe when people apply for permits.
Having already seen this video, I watched again. Only because it is dense with information and it helps to watch your videos multiple times.😊
The fact the previous video was struck down is more proof that it's message rings true-
Hope the algorithm agrees
people like you deserve real world funds to conduct more groundbreaking research on field
Lots of truth and heart felt love for history. Love the comment about the Mona Lisa perfectly said!
The fact that we don't know EVERYTHING about the pyramids is absolutely SICKENING.
We know everything, but the conspiracy writings sell good and make money out of nothing, so there will always be such.
Thx for persevering! Even the true history of investigations is stranger than fiction. Always enjoy the next chapter in your grand puzzles.
You are very correct, public heritage has been privatised.
