Every time I listen to Dear My Friend now all I can think of is Yoongi crying while singing it at his concert in Seoul. I've never seen him that emotional before.
The beginning of Honsool is him listing all the alchohol he drinks during that time.

On IUs Palette Yoongi named People as the song that helped him when he listened to it as if it wasn't his 🥺 he said he cried lots, also said staff at hybe loves the song too

Some info Yoongi revealed on the live he did for D-2:
During the Wings era, he was asked if he wanted to try writing beats for some of the other members. The beat he wrote for People was originally intended for Jimin.
When people around him heard Honsool and told him it gave them an unpleasant feeling (it gives me this feeling also, which is why I don’t listen to it very often), he knew he succeeded.
Kookie sang the guide vocals for Dear My Friend
He said he adds traps in his songs, like the ones used to catch cockroaches, and that Daechwita and What Do You Think? are traps. People never learn and always come and step in his traps.
You connected Dear My Friend and Spring Day correctly. My favourite song on this half of the album is People for sure, it's amazing (I'm not sure if I can pick a favourite song off the whole album though, but I have that trouble with pretty much all of Suga and BTS's music. I love everything for different reasons). Jimin said that the other reason he named his Set Me Free as "pt. 2" is because he felt that while Suga's song was from the POV of someone who is trapped and unable to be set free, Jimin felt his song was from the POV of someone who finally gets out.

I love the structure he used here (like he often does) of starting with his outer shell and slowly getting softer and more personal/vulnerable as the track list progresses. I highly recommend watching his d-2 vlive he did where he went through all the tracks and talked about the backstory of writing them and how they came to be. He actually wanted to call “dear my friend” “chingu” (= friend) but since that song already exists (as “friends” by jimin and v) he went with the korean title “what would it have been like” instead. Kim Jongwan of Nell was actually on a suchwita recently, which was really cool to see :)
My favs are probably People, Dear My Friend and Set me free, in that order, but I love D-2 in general a lot.

When he preformed dear my friend on stage it literally got me to break down because it honestly just looked like everything he has been feeling just finally got to him. He reached his breaking point and he just finally let himself feel on stage. The last time I saw something like that was when he saw his parents at their concert back in 2016 on parents day.

Yes, Spring Day lyrics are referring to the same person as Dear My Friend.
My top 3 tho it's hard is Daechwita, Strange, & People but I have to mention Interlude Set Me Free cuz the first time I listened to that song was with headphones and it made me cry. Remember this is before we got People pt. 2 and all we had of Yoongi singing before D-2 was Seesaw so hearing him sing just hit me in my feels. People during the D-Day concert was amazing! Hearing army sing along every word was amazing. I think your really gonna love D-Day, I love D-2 so much but D-Day kinda blew my mind ngl It became my fav album of his.
You are right, Suga confirmed it's about the same friend he thought of writing his lyrics to Spring Day, the one who went to prison. Jong Wan is also a guest on Suchwita, he is from a well Known Korean Indie Rock Band, Suga looked up to them growing up. They talk about the song in detail there. He did a D2 Vlive as well, maybe you find the time to watch it on your own. The rapline actually has an Album behind a Live Stream of each of their Solo Projects, old and new. Agust D and Self-titled RM are the exception because it was pre Live Stream era. Both Suga and Hobi also on top have the Disney Plus stuff.

I love the decision to put Set Me Free straight after Honsool, with how the beginning starts, it feels like you had a night of heavy drinking alone in Honsool and Set Me Free is the sun streaming through the window when you wake up the next day 💜
From what I understand contraband gets snuck into detention centers so there’s a chance that the friend might not have stopped or that they went in for something like w e e d or something else and then got addicted in prison.

People is SOOO good and I endlessly think of his observations especially that "humans arent the animals of wisdom but the animals of regret". I love the weird experimental quality of Hansool, and feeling like I'm drunk listening to it, its creative weird and shows his genius in making such a discordant song. Set Me Free is another cinematic sort of interlude which he excels at and I almost wish he made into a full song but it worked perfectly as it is. Dear My Friend guts me as I have had people in my life I've had similar experience with and then I saw him live and the last performance where he was gutted and sobbing trying to get through it and I find it raw and beautiful and one I cant listen to often. Mixtape really undersells how GOOD this is and how much he put into it. I am glad I can own it but I want a hard copy so bad.
I personally prefer the TfTaehyung lyrics the most.
The development of Yoongi's vocals over the years has been amazing to watch. People should have known from Otsukare that he had the pipes lol But then we got Seesaw, and he started talking about taking vocal lessons, and let me just say that what you saw on D2 is only the tip of the iceberg. I cant wait for you to watch a DDay concert, cause this man can *sing* his peachy lil butt off. I'm so proud of him, and literally cannot wait for Bangtan to reunite bc 'BTS has seven vocalists' CONFIRMED.

I love that you reacted to this! This album was on repeat nonstop when it first came out and then again with D-Day last year. I saw him in LA when Max came out during Burn It and let me tell you we all freaked out. And I went the next night when Halsey was there, and again we freaked out. I love how he pours himself into his lyrics and his voice is so versatile. Quick random fact is Honsool is Korean slang/abbreviation for drinking alone. And if you watched Yoongi’s live in 2020, he played us a clip of Dear My Friend with Jungkook singing the vocal guide. I hope one day they’ll release that version too. And on the Suchwita episode with Kim Jong Wan, Yoongi said they asked him to stop having JK sing the vocal guides because the artists who are going to sing the songs felt pressure from JK’s amazing vocals!

I have been a subscriber for some time now, and I don't usually comment, but I felt I needed to in this reaction. People have been my comfort song since he released D-2. When life gets difficult, I always go back to listen to it. Can't wait for D-day and hopefully the concert (if you do, get tissues ready🥲). It was an amazing show, and even though it was kind of hard to see him cry (I was silently bawling my eyes out at 4 a.m. in my room to not wake my family up🤭), I appreciated that he showed us his vulnerable side. I'm sorry if there is any mistake; English is not my native language. Thank you for the reaction. I always appreciate you taking the time to read and digest the lyrics!

People - I love this one. So catchy. Love the unique melody to it as well. The mm mm mm he reused in Life Goes On. So good. yep, Adorra is on here. She so good. Yes, this one is a fav. Many like it. And the pt. 2 is on D-day so good.
Honsool - This one is moody. It's very unique song. Lo fi maybe. Yes, the beat really matched well with the lyrics/ song topic.

Dear my Friend - I like too. It's good. Suga just doesn't write bad songs, lol. Spring Day RM said the lyrics were about losing touch or loosing a friend. I would assume the same thing ur doing actually that Suga is referencing this song in his lyrics of Spring Day. Suga is a cat magnet. Yep, we know. lol. Taco so cute. Taco knew u need him, aww. Smart kitty. Hugs Anitra. i am crying here with u reading these lyrics. Have heard the song but my memory is bad and nothing stays for long sometimes. I started to remember my childhood here in USA. Making friends and having them stab me in the back a year or 2 later. This makes me remember my middle school friends, JHS, HS, and college. I still chat with them but not as often. Now i have new friends that love BTS as much as i do. Powerful song. Addiction is a mental health issue. And that is not as easy to fix. I think lost contact is mental health related sometimes. Sometimes it's growth and life changes people. We grow distant. It's sad sometimes. Confusing too. But i am thankful i can still chat with my elementary school friend, my JHS pals and HS and college. I try to maintain some contact. And some of them reach out to me. Like recently i got a BTS gift from my HS pal that i have not spoken with in many months. She remembered i liked BTS and she mailed me pins just out of nowhere. 0.0 She i learned also likes BTS but does not collect pins. I was shoock. I started bombarding her wirth questions but she not army just a casual fan. Doesn't know her intro song or year she became a fan.
