USAPECS AGU Fall Meeting 2022

USAPECS is the national committee representing United States members of the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS). The USAPECS board is composed of a small group of volunteers, working to
support other polar early career researchers (ECRs). Our aims are to stimulate inclusive collaborations and connections between polar ECRs and polar organizations.
In this session, we will present recent activities that we have undertaken to improve IDEA principles in polar science spaces and to support polar ECRs of all backgrounds. This includes adding land acknowledgments to board member bios and USAPECS blog posts; establishing a code of conduct and mission statement that includes an equity and inclusion statement; and pursuing training activities for our board members. We will also describe our future goals as the USAPECS community and the strategies we have created to address the gap in inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in polar science.
