    What is the smoking source? It seems too soft on smoking shell. Anyone know what was that?

    Bella's work is stunning as always but I can't understand why Profoto is marketing the A1 as a portable flash yet in most of it's videos you'll always find a B1 in the background. That's sending the wrong message I think.

    Is the air remote, camera make specific - does it work with Sony.

      The "Profoto Air Remote" works with all camera makes. The "Profoto Air Remote TTL" (with TTL capability) is offered for Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Sony. Support for Fuji is coming soon.
      You can read more about the remotes here:
      profoto.com/int/air-remotes
      "Profoto A1" is currently developed for Canon and Nikon.
      You can read more about the A1 here:

      Yup, just a hot shoe connection. It's a really cool piece of kit for controlling hard to reach lights like those buried in a softbox or on a 8' stand. Makes Single Shooting with multiple lights a reality. I've done shoots with 6 lights using it and had a happy ending always.

    LOL at her bouncing the light off the sky! cool product but this video is a bit weird. seems like she's maybe never used a flash before. Why is she selling profoto kit? I'm pretty sure she's a natural light photographer... would like to see what the light actually did here but its hard to know whats light and whats heavy editing... hard sell on the product too if she sounds like she's reading from a script. cool product though! want!

      She didn't bounce her speedlight to the sky.. She just triggering the D1

    • @matthewgiraldi5477
      @matthewgiraldi5477 6 лет назад

      The A1 works as an air remote trigger. If she was just triggering another light, the A1 on her camera wouldn't fire. But it does fire so she's obviously attempting to bounce it off something

      Its called Photocell/IR-slave. In many cases (again check the manual for your specific speedlight) S1 mode (Photocell/IR-slave) will trigger the slave flash unit as soon as it sees this initial flash.

    • @matthewgiraldi5477
      @matthewgiraldi5477 6 лет назад +1

      umm yeah i realize that. not sure why you're giving me a lesson on slaves here... what I'm trying to tell you is that the A1 functions as an air remote trigger. as in you can use it to trigger another a1 / other OCF profoto product. Not just use the flash to trigger another flash. I would expect Bella must know that this is a feature of the flash and would be using it that way if she was simply triggering another flash... it would be stupid to make a promo video about lighting and pass over that feature. therefore she must be trying to bounce it off something. which is apparently the sky.

      So the Profoto uses WIRELESS triggering. WIRELESS signals are invisible. eg: when you use a wireless trigger no light comes from it. So WHY is there light coming from the A1 on the camera if it is being used for a trigger only. That would be inefficient and I believe is moreso that she is using it not as a trigger only but also a light. (she has it turned on as a light) So I believe they are wanting people to Aspire to use their gear with "Big name" photographers rather than photographer who can really use the gear and properly vouch for its actual real ability. It could be said that giving this Photographer a Godox AD360 or a Jinbei Mars would have given us the same result in proving the technical abilities of this unit. This is what you get when you give many "influencers" free lights to own or use as part of a marketing campaign. It is Hype for comments and it probably works as many will buy just because of this. Personally I would rather see someone with lots of real lighting cred show REAL reasons from REAL use as to why I should consider a product but I of course am looking for inspiration and not aspiration. This is Aspirational. If XYZ uses their lights then I must own them as well. Except XYZ got them given to them for free.

    At 1:00 . . . is she bouncing that flash off the sky? Weird video showing someone who chimps after every shot and needs an assistant to carry and set up speed lights seems a bit odd. I wonder if Joe McNally or David Hobby would need a boy to assist them in this simple shoot . . .
    Video Concept: If you are trying to show that girls can do flash photography too, then find a female shooter who knows what the heck she is doing and can do it without male assistance. I'm sure they exist.

      Hi Zebulon,
      I am Bella's partner and assistant on shoots. I like to be there when I can so we can work faster so we can get through a few locations in less time. Also we bounce ideas off of each other for lighting, styling and location as we work as a team.
      My role as assistant is multi-purpose. I aided in holding the light stand up above the model and in various locations while she was shooting for positioning of the light without the need of a boom. It makes the equipment stack much lighter and we get done quicker.
      In those shots, we used one A1 as a wireless trigger so the power output wasn't affecting the scene, it was just set to the lowest power.
      I assure you Bella works solo most of the time and I was there as a bonus.
      Hope that helps!

      Yah. If flash photography goes beyond this marketing piece for Profoto, I recommend Bella attend a Joe McNally workshop and spend some time here: strobist.blogspot.com/

      I believe at 1:00 she may have been just using the on-camera as the controller for the boom her assistant is holding. Also, she admitted in the video that she doesn't prefer to use flash, and I think the purpose here was to show photographers who typically are natural light shooters and maybe are overwhelmed by flash that even they could incorporate this tool into their arsenal and that it is simple and effective to use. Her work is beautiful and she is very talented.

      the a1 can be used as an air remote trigger it would be stupid to use it to trigger another a1 while still flashing the one being used as a remote. If she's a natural light shooter why is she pretending to love this flash she seems to know nothing about?
