Thank you for rescuing pigeons. Not all rescue centres do this necessary job.

These people who dedicate so much time and effort to help animals are remarkable. I have so much respect for them and am inspired by them. Just saved my first pigeon last week. Saw it getting attacked by a cat and got the cat away and then it was limping and couldn't fly but had no open wounds or blood so I put it in a fleece lined shoebox and it just sat in the passenger seat with no lid and we sped down the highway to the animal sanctuary. It was very moving to watch the pure terror in its eyes melt away and switch to when it knew it was safe and I was helping it. Hes expected to make a full recovery they said.

My rescue pigeon thrived on a watery weetabix fed through a syringe from a couple of days old, until he could feed himself seed and peas. When he contracted canker and diarrhoea after attempting a slow/soft release, and could not feed himself again-I reverted to the weetabix mix with a large teaspoon of greek yoghourt, fed once again through a syringe, to keep his fluids up and administer a pro-biotic element to counteract the canker. Though he was so poorly I expected to lose him-he bounced back within 3 days, poos are back to normal and he's scoffing everything in sight again.

The one here is a little older but still not fledged. I made a soup from crushed peanuts, crushed wildbird seed and peas. He drank some of the juice. He likes water too. But won't eat. I saw somewhere that baby pigeons sometimes don't know how to eat. I set up a laptop with pigeons feeding on a video and he loves it. Seems more interested. I got one single pea into him earlier. He looked amazed afterward but he's so feisty I'm scared off breaking his neck trying to hold his head. Going to try the syringe method with the soup again.

Thank you so much,we found a young injured wood pigeon that was caught with what i suspect a hedge cutter.it had maggots in the wounds, wasnt feeding by itself with chicken feed softened or drinking water.its eyes went all cloudy.we cleaned the maggots off added sudocreme to the wounds and tried the ballon method it didnt like over the beak but just under the beak so it could feed and water itself i ised a ground and blended multi vitamin and oats with a bit of water and milk, now ive made a mix of blended chicken feed a little milk and water for its next feed.
Again thank you so much within minutes the eyes came back to clear and round instead of cloudy and more movement from her.

Beautiful! I had to pop a squab back in its nest recently and made sure the parents were still coming to feed it. Looks like it fledged (one hopes!) this morning. Nest clear and no sign of struggle.

What other vitamins do you add with the oats? Please make a tutorial on how to make it so I can feed my baby pigeon so can other people. Thanks.

Please...in the future , don't give oaks and milk to the woodies.
Various seeds, fruits, green peas , lentil, chickpeas, all softened in water.. this is what they eat .
At this age , they need solid food.
Is just an advice, not a critical point of view.
Congrats for taking care of him 🙂

I don't think babies at the crop milk stage can cope with seeds, no criticism here either, just stating the obvious.

More details on the porridge would have been useful. Made with water/milk, regular mix/light mix etc. Literally looking right now for what to give a young wood pigeon with things from my cupboard but struggling to find details

I've just come upon a lil woody chic, that's fell ftom the nest. Been giving it some fat ball+peanut butter+ready break+water&milk liquidised/lukewarm. Looks happy, pooing everywhere. Also keeping warm inside box with hot water bottles. Just hope it's enough. Quite difficult feefing with syringe.

Hey, I found a pigeon today that looks older than the one in this video by a few weeks, it had about 15 ticks, bigs ones all over its head, it was just not moving on the ground. i removed the ticks and washed it, and placed it in a nest in a old dog crate outside. It doesnt seem to want to drink or eat? does it just need to rest potentially or should i force it to drink?

  • @AnneAndersonFoxiepaws

So ready brek is what I need if I find baby pigeon. So you put it over his beak? Does it go into its nostrils? I would probably find out because I have saved baby birds before so as long as I know what I am trying to do, it's because the parent pigeon takes the babies whole beak into theirs isn't it?

When I found this bird ..I thought oh my poor old man!can't fly anymore...let me get him home and nurse him for his last rite's...turns out it's a juvenile pigeon!...so as I pretty much live on seeds myself wasn't to much problem....chi seed's...Greek yogurt..almonds , sesame,walnuts...and berries...he or she was definitely no wear near original nest....anyway...he's lazy...I have to preen and bath him...and stuff food down his gob...

If you feed him like that for weeks to come you are going to spoil him !
In my country we have that fried pigeon don’t come flying into your mouth by themselves - baby doves easily get that idea.
I over nursed a baby pideon and he got used to just INDICATING with small unmistakenly moves with his beak that he wanted water and stupid me eagerly poured water in my hand which he immediately started gulping down.
In the end he expected me to wipe his *ss for him !
