There's a plugin called Rbass, it adds a massive boost to the low end by adding extra harmonics, this way your subbass won't lack the low end.
So amazing do you actually have any songs to show it off in or u just talk about it
oh damn i’m gonna go find that right now
Another way to do this is to add whitenoise to the sub and distorted the crap out of it and bell EQ the mid. You'll get a really nice distorted and heavy sub bass to work with
Interesting! I'll try this one out :)
@@DowdenProductionAcademy Since you're using Ableton, the best plugin to add some juicy whitenoise to your sub is Ableton stock Erosion on the "Wide Noise" setting. Ableton stock Saturator is fine for the distortion but personally I use Voxengo Tube Amp
yeah its a bass heavy music technique
Awesome didn’t see that first tip coming 🙏🏼 gotta try
Thanks! Happy Holidays💫
You can use a dynamic EQ compressor to find the frequencies in a threshold.
Or a semi parametric EQ with a very narrow Q and listen for the desirable sub FQ.
Definitely!
Excellent
very cool!
Great tips, thank you
Thanks!
thank you bro
Yes keep them coming !
Will do! :)
ngl I test my sub bass on both thing my dual 18 inch pa subwoofer that 6400watts and my Mac book air speakers @@DowdenProductionAcademy
I believe this technique is called "harmonic EQing"
Interesting! I have not heard that for this application. Sharing the knowledge 🙌
Basically , what you are doing is to add Some mid and high frequencies to sub , so that cellphones can produce that high-mid frequencies of sub ... There's no way we can feel the real sub without speaker , or a decent headphone
Yep! That's what the video covers :)
what about different notes of sub that sound different (lower notes sound quieter and weaker)?
They might sound weaker or quieter because of things called 'nodes' or your speakers or headphones not able to produce the sound properly. although, some bass notes do hit 'louder' so I would suggest compressing a few db on the main bass channel for your low frequencies :
Saturation
Wouldn’t those higher frequencies from the sub conflict with other instruments ?
Any overlapping frequencies could cause conflict - but generally as long as you are not overlapping too many you should be good. Anything below say 80 or 100hz I wouldn't recommend overlapping too much or at all. For the freqs between 80-200hz which these will cause some conflict, just make sure you're checking your analyzers and EQing accordingly in other sounds to not cause muddiness or issues. Always check in MONO as well :)
So should the midbass then start at like 200ish or can it start at like 100 hz like it should without the trick ?
What do you mean?
Well this trick basically fills the 100-200hz range with extra harmonics from the sub. There would normally sit my middbass. Would you eq that middbass to make room for these harmonics or just leave as it is? Great vid btw ! :)
@@kevinboyprductions ouu great question! I personally would probably cut the sub bass harmonics and let the mid bass take the bulk of these frequencies but of course each situation is different!
but isn't any wave a sine wave?
Sine waves are Sine waves, but every frequency is a single sine wave. Is that what you are referring to?
@@DowdenProductionAcademy yes that's what I meant
@@bloonzer3473 yep! exactly. So every waveform is just 1 or more sine waves built up into a sound - all playing their own frequencies :)
On a phone with good speakers, didnt hear a single overtone whatsoever lol
Haha shoot! Maybe just laptops, then!
