Armed with a fictional €1 Million, Reviews Editor Jack Haines searches the halls of Boot Düsseldorf to see what he can afford.
At this price point we are in the realm of serious cruising boats with multiple cabins, powerful engines and the living space to live on board for weeks on end.
There is no better place to research boats side-by-side than the world’s biggest indoor boat show and this small selection shows what variety there is. With boats from the likes of Beneteau, Nord-Star and Windy this a true reflection of what sort of new boat you can get for this budget in 2024.

I think it's the good old Swift Trawler for me. That's a lot of boat for the money and it doesn't seem to have Beneteau's normally squeaky floors. Great video, thank you.

The Swift Trawler is where you get the most space and comfort. You could live on board it.

For me it would be the Fairline, unless I had a larger yacht and just needed a fast plaything/get into small berths boat without needing such good accommodation, then it would be the Windy.
As an American, I feel I can say with some authority, that the Sea Ray is wildly overpriced.
The Nord Star is the only one with a proper saloon, so that is the one for me.

This too was a treat. Nicely done, Jack. Now I'm off to see what I might have been able to buy Dusseldorf, instead of my USA Cutwater motor boat, for my equivalent 100,000 Euros. The boat show 'briefs' that lead conveniently to prior and/or future boat reviews is a great motivation for we viewers.

I love the SeaRay SLX! There's an option to get that with 3 Mercury Racing 450R on the back of it and man that thing is just so awesome! That being said that Fairline is just such an amazing do it all no compromise option for almost 250K less, that's a hard offer to pass on.
Not sure you'll like this Jack ....for €M I'd go blue water (ish) sailing yacht maybe Oyster 595 and live aboard in sun until politics improves! Though Nord Star is pretty bulletproof! Nice whistle stop of available cream.

Aquila 36 cabin cruiser style with the hydrofoils. That's my choice. But I would be in the US and a Great Loop would be fun... and extremely hot in it. Thus the cabin cruiser style with max AC.
It will have to be the Marex 440 for my million euro (which I sadly do not have), however, out of the ones shown it would be the Swift Trawler

Buying that Sea Ray for a million is an easy way to lose 500k.
For a million my vote would go to the new Targa 41, but out of these options I have to say that I have a soft spot for the Swift Trawler.

The Fairline is the business, boat to have fun on and have a good night’s sleep.
I think you'll come up with some interesting boats. Never heard of Sea Ray or Four Winn. Just what I hope you'd do. 😊 Finding boats we know and don't know.
My favourite is Beneteau. She'll do long and short runs. Nicely finshed. I like the Swift Trawler yachts, not to big but not small either. Comfortable and safe decor not over the top. An honest type of boat. What you see is what you get. Very nice.
But for a party party yacht Sea Ray she is amazing. Spaceous, plenty of sun pad and seating, nice wet bar. Good day boat for party time.
Just out of interest what was the most expensive boat in the show? Im curious.
Most expensive boat at the show would probably be between the Princess X95 and Sanlorenzo SL90 A.

Love the channel and reviews - really best in class! Well done…..Idea for a series might be boats with interior headroom. People are getting taller and taller and at 2 meters - handy to know the headroom interior spaces. Cheers

This is most sobering price point ! One million still sounds like a lot but it doesn't go very far nowadays does it ?? the saving grace is running costs on these little boats wouldn't be too outrageous. I'd imagine a one million euro budget would get you a superb choice of more interesting used boats ?

really not smartest choices for Boats at this price there are much better options the North Star is the only one here that could fit the bill especially considering the price everything else just rubbish compared to the competition absolutely 47 fly and so on there are so many options The Prestige $460s much cheaper and better than those options there are so many it's absolutely absurd that these would even be considered against those in this segment it's like the dumbs choice
