    Im assuming if it were a virus, it would be a constant problem. My mouse + keyboard work fine 80% of the time, and then at random they both will start acting glitchy at the same time. Also, If i replace them both with wired ones, will the problem likely go away?

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад +2

    If possible, try connecting the mouse to another PC to see if it works for a different PC (this will help rule out issues with your PC). If it still doesn't work, and you know for sure the batteries are good, it's possible the mouse hardware has failed and needs to be replaced.

      Try pressing and holding the connect button on both the dongle and the mouse.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад +1

    Did you by chance make any changes to your PC before this happened, such as running a registry or PC cleanup utility? Have you tried plugging your mouse and keyboard into a different port? Your problem probably is software related, but it's hard to say a driver would fix it, particularly if you can't get into Windows to run the driver.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад

    Shut your PC all the way down. Unplug the power cable (and if you have a laptop remove the battery). Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds. Then (reattach the battery on a laptop) plug it back in, and restart the PC. If that doesn't work, try plugging it into another USB port. If you have a desktop and have it plugged into the back, try plugging it into a front port. Also, see if other USB devices work from the ports to make sure it's not a USB port issue.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад

    If the Mouse and Keyboard are USB 3.0 and your PC only supports USB 2.0, you can't do much to make this work. One thing I would try is to update the PC's chipset driver or see if there are any updates for USB drivers for your PC. If this does not work, the mouse and keyboard may just be incompatible. This is a common issue with new USB 3.0 devices on older systems that came before USB 3.0 was available. It's a hardware issue rather than software.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад

    Ok. It sounds like you may be having USB port issues or possibly your new mouse and keyboard are for USB 3.0 and your PC only support 2.0? Do other USB devices work on your PC when you plug them in? If other devices work, but the mouse and keyboard don't, I would suspect they are not compatible with the USB port or they need a specialty driver installed before connecting the device to the PC.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад

    Does neither the mouse or keyboard work? When you plug in the wireless receiver to the USB port, does the PC show that it recognizes it (makes a noise when you plug it in, and/or shows by the time that a new devices was connected)? If the PC doesn't recognize when you plug in the receiver, that tells you there is an issue with the PC recognizing the device. I'm not sure about the System Restore issue mention.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад

    Are you sure the receiver has a light? Some don't have a light. Does the PC try to plug and play it as a device when you first plug it in? After plugging it in, have you looked in Device Manager to see if it is listed or if there is an unknown device listed? Have you tried plugging it into another PC? If the device doesn't show up in your PC, and doesn't show up on another PC, it's possible the device is bad.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 12 лет назад

    Are you saying that your X key keeps adding Xs even when you don't press it? If so, it could be you have a stuck key or that something was spilled on the keys. I'm not sure what keyboard you have, but some keyboards you can pop the keys off and check under it for anything that may be causing a problem. Don't pop them off though if you don't know you can put them back on.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 12 лет назад

    Hmmm....if you know the batteries are good (I would use brand new batteries for testing), but the mouse still won't connect to any computer, it could be that the mouse is failing, One thing I would try is to move the USB receiver to a different port, restart the PC, and then try the mouse and keyboard again to see if there are any changes to which device works.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад +1

    I'm not sure what you mean. Have you watched the video?

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 12 лет назад

    Well, if the mouse and keyboard didn't work in another computer and you are sure you have good batteries in them, that could mean they are no longer working. If you plug another device into your USB ports, like a camera or printer or external hard drive, do the ports work?

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 12 лет назад

    Are you saying that the USB mouse and keyboard don't work, or are you talking about every thing that you plug into the USB ports? Also, have you tried the USB ports on the front and back of the PC? It's hard to say what could be wrong unless I know more details of what is happening.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад

    If you google that error message, there are some Microsoft forums links that are at the top of the results. The first one has an answer that could fix this error.
    As far as the mouse/keyboard problem, what exactly isn't working?

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад

    Ah, ok. If all the ports have stopped working, it's possible it's a driver issue, registry problem, or maybe hardware failure. I would try updating the chipset driver for your PC first before messing with the registry or assuming it's failed hardware.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 12 лет назад

    Did you try changing the batteries? How about connecting the USB receiver to a different USB port? Try using it on another computer if possible, just to see if it works. If it doesn't work on another computer either, it could be the mouse hardware has failed.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 12 лет назад

    Have you followed all the steps in this video? Does your mouse work? Does your keyboard work on another computer? There are a number of things you can try to help close in on where the problem is occurring.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад

    I'm not sure how old your mouse is or what it's warranty is, but if it's in warranty, you may be able to call the manufacturer and get a replacement. If it's not in warranty, you can buy a new one.

    Are you sure the batteries are good? You may want to also try connecting it to another computer and see if the same problem remains. Maybe there is some other conflict going on.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад

    If you've changed the batteries, tried re-syncing it with the computer, and tried it on another computer and it still doesn't work, there is a good chance that the hardware has gone bad.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 12 лет назад

    If you tried all the steps (including seeing if it works on another PC) and it still doesn't work, it's possible your mouse hardware has stopped working and you may need to replace it.

  • @HPComputingSupport

  • @HPComputingSupport

    This sounds like either the mouse laser is going bad or it can't track with the surface you have the mouse on. Are you using a mouse pad, or working on a non-shiny surface?

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад

    Hmm...that is odd. Are you positive the batteries are good? Weak batteries can cause issues like this. You may also want to see if there is an updated driver for your mouse.

    Have you noticed if it happens with a specific program that you are using when you notice it? Then next time it happens, right-click the bottom bar of your desktop (where there are no icons) and select "Start Task Manager". Look at the programs and processes that are open and running when the lag happens. On the processes screen see if there some programs using A LOT of resources at the time it lags.

    My mouse is a wireless mouse and I just changed it from my desktop to my laptop. I went to go and put it back onto my desktop BUT the mouse won't work... Since my desktop doesn't have like a mousepad (unlike my laptop) I can't click on "install device" or something like that. I try to use arrow keys but it just doesn't work. I've restarted loads of times and this is so frustrating. Please help!

      If you open up the bottom of the mouse there is a CONNECT button you can old down for 5 seconds and see if you can get it to connect. Otherwise, there are not a lot of options on a mouse if that does not work you need to purchase a new mouse.

  • @HPComputingSupport
    @HPComputingSupport 11 лет назад

    If the batteries are good, and other PCs also can't recognize the mouse, I'm thinking the mouse (or receiver) hardware could be failing.

    I'm having trouble with my mouse.
    See, I have the Dell Inspiron One. The Touch screen Desktop, and the mouse doesn't seem to be responding. The battery's are new, and the power button at the bottom of the mouse is green. Which indicates it's good. I tried the method of connecting it, but it doesn't work. The only thing I can use is my Keyboard. Not even the little ray of red light turns on at the bottom of it. And I don't know what to do. I've also checked if the mouse needed and update and no, everything seems to be up to date. I have a windows 7 by the way.

    every hp mouse I have ever used on this system lags and or shuts off for a few seconds sometimes it only comes back on to move a few cm and stops again. it's something to do with with Windows, probably driver installation errors in the registry or something. this hp mouse is unusable but if we go into recovery mode or into the bios it works fine. random linux distro? works fine. ms needs to really fix this driver issue, its horrible. for some reason its only hp mice, that I have came across anyways. hp you need to start supplying software again.

My problem started when I pushed the sleep button on the Keyboard. After waking the computer up over 2 hrs later the keyboard refused to operate, I have revmoved the batteries and put in brand new ones, I have switched usb ports and tried another computer to no avail. normally it doesnt bother me that much the problem is when i am playing, that small time when i have to click for it to turn on its enough to get me killed.
    can anyone help me please?
    thanks

    What PC model do you have? Have you tried restarting the PC? Is there a connect button on the mouse?

      In that case I would recommend replacing the batteries; they are most likely drained.

    But how do you connect when the dongle doesn't have a connect button? The video shows dongles with no connect button around 13 minute mark but doesn't show the connecting process with that one. Do you just put it in the port and hold the connect button on the keyboard?

    When I try to connect a keyboard, it says there's a password on it when I never set one and it can connect to other devices without one. Any solutions?

    I have a HP 230 Bluetooth Keyboard and mouse. Not all the characters match what is on the key when typed. I can't find hyphen for instance. I can't find semi colon, and in some instances, characters are present that aren't
    shown on the key. How can this be fixed? Help!

      Hi there, thanks for contacting HP Global Social Media Support!
      I understand that you are experiencing an issue with the Bluetooth keyboard.
      I will do my best to assist you.
      Your Bluetooth keyboard can stop working if the batteries are worn out or not installed properly. To test the batteries, you can simply replace them with brand new ones or recharge the batteries by connecting the charging cable to a power source. If your keyboard has an On/Off switch, make sure it's set to On

      Hi, the problem is the characters on the keyboard keys are not what shows up on the screen. Not in all cases. But in those I mentioned. Semi-colon, hyphen.... as an example. Mine is a 230 Blue Tooth keyboard and mouse no USB, no on/off button. The mouse is fine. I can type ok, but some characters I can't find because when you press them, they show a different character on the screen. I will replace the battery, but seems odd that that would be the issue with so few character issues. Thank you!!!!@@HPSupport

      I think the keyboard keys don't represent a typical U.S. character arrangement. On my keyboard is a N with a wavy line over it, that is a Mexican character symbol. But I found on my computer a Key Identifier, which shows you where to find the character you need. So I will have to relearn this keyboard character arrangement. THank you.

    My keyboard and mouse were working perfectly fine yesterday, and now they both are lagging at what seems to be the same time. Im assuming low batteries wouldnt be a problem unless its coincidentally low on both the keyboard and mouse. I will try the steps provided in this video, but I am just curious, will a virus ever effect a wireless mouse and keyboard? Everything else is working fine on my computer, nothing is slow or lagging, other than the keyboard + mouse.

    My HP Pavilion g7-2235dx just suddenly wont recognize my USB mouse. It's connected because it lights up and its present in the device manager but still wont move :/ it keeps disconnecting and connecting by itself but the light still remains on during this disconnecting and connecting. This has happened before and a simple system restore to a restore point fixed it but now since the recent Windows 8 Update no system restore works :/ even to the point before the update where it was working :(
