- I tried to make a woven wall hanging with draping and it didn't go quite like I expected it too...

Haha - I think it’s cute! Fancy Victorian curtain/Belle’s ball gown vibes. That draping might look cute in like a Christmas weaving with a line of ornament shapes in between or something? Hoping for lots of rain for you folks up North! Very smoky down here in YYC on and off too 😔
haha thank you! I definitely think something similar could work for Christmas! I'll be thinking about that! We got a little rain today, and there's tons in the forecast for tomorrow, so here's hoping that actually gets here! Hopefully the wind changes directions for you guys down there.

I think if you had offset the middle row, it would have looked better, it's the sameness throughout - you could also add some black, which would balance the bold colours.
I kinda loved it in the end. It reminded me of a Hawaiian hula skirt.
I think you could add another wall hanging one on the sides and bottom like as in a frame, hang them together. Hard for me to explain it. Either way, someone will like the original more than you did!

I think instead of knotting the yellow, you weave it behind a single warp string. Also it could be that the yellow is very thick. Those are just 2 thoughts I had as to why the yellow gave off a "theatre performance" vibe. I love seeing your experimentation!
Theatre vibes! That’s what it was 🤣 I was having such a hard time explaining that lol. Those are good thoughts! I also wonder if I had just used all neutral colours instead of yellow and blue if that would’ve helped?

The Yellow was very dominant, I am not much of a computer person, or I would send you a photo of the original. The yellow was very dominant. However, next time I will try to weave and then knot. What a great idia. You really are a great weaver enjoy your Chanel so much!

I think if you took off the yarn hanging on the sides, used some pastel colors, it would be a cool birthday decoration, cuz yeah, cake....as is, kind of gives me "old lady lamp shade" vibes. But, I believe art is totally subjective, and someone could really love it... so. Your work has to make you happy; that is what I have found. Thank you for sharing your experiment. Take care, be well
That's a great idea! I think leaning into the birthday cake vibes but doing it in pastels could be really cute! And I agree about the sides- I think I should've used thinner materials so it would've been easer to tuck in the ends in the back and then the whole thing would've looked a little cleaner and less shaggy lol

I completely agree! Sometimes it can be frustrating when something doesn’t turn out how you want it to, but it totally helps develop your design eye when you know what you don’t like just as much as what you do like!
