one time i was at camp, and my friend brought skin care masks for the entire cabin. She passed them around and everyone put them on, even my madre (she was the counselor) and I think she was allergic or something, but all you could hear was her yelling that it burned. Everyone in the cabin (my friends) were like its supposed to burn... right? and well we went to the bathroom to wash it off, and well... my mom's face was um, red and hot lol.

I had a lady come into Walgreen's and told me that she was upset everyone was buying the rubbing alcohol because that's what she used to clean her face. She also informed me that she had never used moisturizer or sunscreen on her face before either. Let's just say I pointed her in the direction of some great cerave products and she still comes in to this day thanking me for that.

When I was in high school, I used the St Ives apricot AND green tea scrubs (not together lol). I used them every other day for probably three years, and it never occurred to me that maybe that was what was making my skin extra irritated 😳
U can use it on your body instead! I stopped using st ives apricot scrub and finished the rest by scrubbing it on my inner thighs/knees/elbows/underarms

My cousin used tee tree oil and once she offered me some. She’s 9 and I was like you probably shouldn’t use that and she was like it helps me skin! And pimples! I was like... ummm okay? 😭😭 poor girl her skin is so gross she used store bought skin products and scrubs sooo! I bought a tube of red face paint for Halloween and wanted to put some on my face to make it look like I had blood dripping from my eyes like in those horror movies. I changed my mind at the last second and washed it all off. The red colour stained my skin and my entire face was pink. I even had pink arms because I put paint there to. one time when i was really little i painted my face and couldn't get the face paint to come off so i made a mixture of every single product i could find in my bathroom (including lots of nail polish remover) and rubbed it allllll over my face to get the face paint to come off
A few months ago, I found this facial spray from Pacifica. I put it on my undereyes, and my nose mostly, but also the rest of my face. I woke up in the morning and touched my face and all this dry skin came off. My face continued to peel for the rest of the week and it was supposed to be HYDRATING mist. Returned it thank god hyram saved my skin
This isn’t really face horror story, but during a physics exam my friends and I smelled this really strong eucalyptus scent and we couldn’t figure out why until I saw a girl a little farther in front of us rubbing PURE EUCALYPTUS ESSENTIAL OIL all over her hands and arms. I looked at my friends and we were all like 😬. RIP eucalyptus girl.

Oh dear lord, essential oils are not to put directly on the skin and should always be diluted even with use on bodies. There was a girl on my basketball team who had a headache and a different girl said peppermint oil would help, so she puts it on her wrist and her wrist starts burning and turning red and my coach (who runs a small business that sells essential oils) said "you must not have used the pure ones because mine are pure and they don't do that" and then walked away. Her arm was still red the next day at practice
A few months ago my dad went to the gym and decided to put on essential oils all over his body before going in the sauna, AND THERE WAS A SIGN THAT SAID NO ESSENTIAL OILS IN THE SAUNA. He ended up getting burns all over his body and is not allowed in the sauna again.🤧✊🏾

my story: I had REALLY bad acne, so I searched up diy face mask last year. I put lemons,tomatoes, honey, toothpaste, and I popped all my pimples till they bleed. You don’t wanna see what my face looked like. I know WAY better now. love u hyram, my skin is getting better now. Also I put clean and clear, and proativ on my skin and also a clean and clear acne cream. It stung my face SO bad and gave me burns on my face. This was al with in a month.

@@wqfflesyrup8740 I don't really know, when I have good quality lotion, then I sometimes use it on my face too, but I think that the biggest problem is, that body lotion is usually too thick for the face and could clog pores? But I'm olny guessing here :D

My horror story: I didn’t wash my face or do any skincare until I turned 19 (yes, that includes not using sunscreen). I was always too insecure to go into a store and buy skincare products because I didn’t think I was pretty enough to use them (don’t ask why I thought that) and I was worried that the cashier would judge me for buying it. Now I’ve got a few really nice skincare products and I only breakout because of PMS, not because I’m a dirty mess haha

I’m 19 now and I’m only starting a good skincare routine now. I started with one a few months ago BUT realised when I started watching hyram that the third ingredient in my moisturizer was denatured alcohol💀 Soo.. I feel you. But I got my hands on cerave a few days ago and I’m excited for my glowup to happen. I’ve always used sunscreen when I’ve been on vacation or whenever I would try to tan a bit.. every day now though. Cheers to knowing better now!❤️

Hyram I love you! I was mainly into makeup and kinda into skincare. I thought I knew what I was doing skincare wise but ohhhhh how that’s all changed since finding your channel. My story: My older brother had really oily skin as a teen. His acne was terrible, so he used a drugstore face wash every night. One evening, he touched poison ivy without realizing it and washed his face as usual. With his hands. But it gets worse. He mixed up my brand new face wash with his (same brand). So I also got a huge rash on my face. Of course, my dumb ass thought that I was allergic to the ingredients in face wash so I didn't wash my face again for years. I had no idea that face washes are not made out of the same stuff.
Also many years later, my little brother complained about breaking out even though he washed his face every night. I asked what he used, and this boy said WATER. He refused to buy a face wash because he was paranoid about putting "chemicals" on his face.

Once when I was like 8, I decided I wanted to be like my big sister and wash my face. One time I coated my face with body shops' tea tree toner, I remember liking the cooling feeling it gave me. My face erupted in little bumps and I had to use moisturizer like every hour for a week because my skin kept drying up. My mum made me use Vaseline. :(

i had extremely dry skin and it was 2 am and i was tired. i found this moisturizer that said “heel cream” and my dumb ass thought they misspelled “heal” so i rubbed it all over my face and it started to burn so bad. that’s when i realized

When I was around 12 I once saw a tip on 5 minute crafts about “blackheads”. You were supposed to take a flosser (like the plastic stick and there is a little piece of floss there) and rub the floss around your T-zone. I did it on my chin until my skin was so red that it was bleeding. I had a huge bloody crust on my chin for another month. I think I also used tooth paste on my zits😬😬😬
Damn... I tried their glue and charcoal peel off mask (used coal since i didn't know the difference) RIP my nose. I'm brown but my face became so red.
I also tried putting toothpaste on my Pimples ( thank god, it didn't have any change)
And also, I heard that putting charcoal on teeth and brushing makes it whiter so I used coal again and brushed it everyday after brushing with toothpaste.
Now, my teeth are yellow (RIP enamel) and sensitive asf

When I was in 3rd or 4th grade, my best friend told me that peppermint essential oil helped with headaches, so I put pure PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL on my face. It ended up getting into my eye and when I tell you that HURT like a but cheek on a stick-

I’m so glad everyone is learning how bad scrubs are. I feel like people thought they could scrub off their acne for so long.
so, I wanted to do a peel off face mask. but I didn’t have any store bought ones. I saw a video that said you could use elmers glue and body scrub and it said that it works just like a peel off face mask and that it helps your pores. I did it and I woke up the next day totally broke out and so then I thought that lemon juice would help my acne but it just damaged it more. It was almost 2 years ago and thank god my skin has recovered.
When I was younger (early teens), the kids used to tease me about my freckles. I actually put straight up bleach on them to try and get rid of them. 😔

I can relate to having freckles😔 I tried to get rid of my freckles too because I was teased in elementary school. I tried erasing them with an eraser when I was 6. I got a huge rash all across my cheeks like a rug burn. Crazy how we were teased when we were young and now freckles are trending. Everybody is drawing them on!

I had the same kind of reaction the first time I tried Nair on my legs. I literally never touched the product again. I couldn't imagine having that kind of reaction on my face!!!!
about 3-4 years ago before i knew ANYTHING about good skincare, my mom was really into the “all natural” treatments and “oh let’s do this at home because it’s cheaper and more effective”.... *sigh*
i remember getting those uncoated aspirins and blending them until they became a really fine powder and then putting lemon juice into the aspirin powder and then putting that mixture on my face until it dried.
i don’t remember getting a severe breakout from it but i do remember it drying my face out completely to the point where it got extremely flaky and then oily because i didn’t know i was supposed to moisturize afterwards... nowadays because of channels like yours i stay at least 6 feet away from any diy skincare treatment and my skin is much happier :)

When I used ProActiv in desperation for my acne, the towels I used to dry my face were bleached and obviously ruined :/

Adewunmi Angie Oyelade the cleanser is extremely stripping with one of the top ingredients being Benzoyl Peroxide (it’s a drying agent). It doesn’t make all that much sense for a wash off treatment to be that exfoliating. The toner is PACKED with extracts, fragrance, and dyes, which are all sensitizing. And then the repairing treatment once again has benzoyl peroxide and alcohol. So overall, the whole three step system is stripping, drying, and irritating! If using now, I recommend switching to more gentle, fragrance free products!

I used St. Ives religiously, everyday, and sometimes with my Clarisonic brush, starting at the end of my sophomore year in HS and stopped my sophomore year of college... idk if I have any underlying effects from doing this but THANKFULLY there is no noticeable damage to my skin!

*Daisy Torres* i try not to ever pop but if I do I dab alcohol with a q tip and put on a moisturizer. I noticed after damaging my skin, moisturizer helps it heal faster

I have acne prone skin but I love using warm virgin coconut oil to remove my makeup followed by a warm washcloth and then a mild cleanser. I love that . It's so satisfying and relaxing. Pls don't have a heart attack reading this.

I was 9 - 10 years old and my older sister started getting acne at that age, and I was so scared that I was gonna start breaking out. My mom gave me skincare but it wasn’t good cause it made my skin itchy. So instead of asking to get some more I decided to D.I.Y. I got some toothpaste and mixed it with Aveeno lotion and used it as a CLEANSER ( like literally just that, no water with it ) and washed it off after 60 seconds. And that was all. Literally only that, no sunscreen or anything. Thanks to Hyram I have a much better routine now!

Skincare horror story: I used to be a theatre kid. the day before I was going to audition for a musical, I decided to put a charcoal mud mask on my face so my skin looked smooth at my audition. I was supposed to leave it on for about 10 mins, but I was practicing a song while I had the face mask on and I got so stressed about my audition that I practiced the song over and over again, and left the mask on for about 30 minutes (I had no idea it was on that long). I washed the face mask off and my skin was bURNIng and I looked pinker than my childhood bedroom. The next morning my skin felt so dry and I had rashes and bumps all over. I saw a dermatologist and he told me what to use, and the problem was solved after a few days. Also I didn’t make the musical lol

hearing Hyram talk about Tea Tree Oil reminded me of when I used to put Pure Tea Tree Oil on my face after a shower. Through high school, I used to just put the TT Oil on a cotton pad and wipe it all over my face, and because I usually have my showers at the end of the day, I'd just go straight to bed after.
