I went to the under armor classic yesterday and got his signature and I told him you taught me how to present a pitch which he actually did and he started laughing and when he finished signing my ball he threw me his arm sleeve. I was shocked and I almost cried because he one of my favorite players.
like his attitude respectful, yes sir no sir.. but i think his 2nd sitting position should be 1st position. looks lazy in the first position, always be up and ready even if no batter's on. but hope he has a long career at Catching. best seat in the house playing Baseball
I'm sure he is a beast behind the plate and in the batter's box, but his framing or "presenting" pitches is very old school. The steering wheel thing is taught by an older generation and not many pros use it. Once he makes the bigs, he'll probably have to be re-taught on how to frame. But he is a great kid and I'm sure an even better catcher, that's why he's Numero Uno
The guy is amazing 1. Respectful 2. Natural Talent and Great work ethic also I’d like to point out as long as you can catch it and get the throw off with a decent pop his primary and secondary position will not matter some major league catchers have ugly stances but can make you look like a snail if you try stealing on them
On the low pitch you are supposed to keep your wrist up. If you put your glove down and give a "thumbs up" the umpire sees the pitch and thinks it is lower than it actually is.
Also since we are on the subject of catching I would like to point out I catch almost the exact same way I’m heavier catcher I’m 6”1 and 210 but I’m athletic and quick for my size I catch the way he does to take the stress off my knees it helps a lot and it hardly effects your pop time mine is 1.91and I can throw about 80 mph so as long as you have a strong arm and a decent pop time your catching positions don’t matter
quick hands but but is to low so if you have to rach for a pitch it looks more like a ball so he needs together his but up so he can then move to get infront and not reach as much.
Best part about him is his respectfulness and manners. Raised right.
