The primary purpose of this stream is to give you the opportunity to see how a Real 737 Captain operates a desktop simulated aircraft in real time using real world operating procedures.
Whilst every effort is made to accurately replicate the way the aircraft is flown based on my experience as a Training Captain and Type Rating Instructor, this is purely for entertainment only.
If you happen to be a line pilot or training pilot you must not follow the guidance in this livestream, it is purely for non-professional computer simulated flight. Only consult your approved material from your respective operator.

For a runway that short, it'd be a good idea to go with a packs-off takeoff.
Yes Bleeds Off is certainly an option to increase performance but due to our light weight it wasn't required. It's far more preferential to change flap setting before configuring for a No Engine Bleed Take Off.
Every time I have done an RNAV-type approach in the PMDG, I hit the APPR mode button in order to actually begin final approach. I am surprised that is not necessary in real life, as I would expect that it help prevent you from programming in a CFIT profile - the APPR button Confirms that you are landing.
That's because our fleet are not fitted with Integrated Approach Navigation (IAN)
IAN provides a display similar to the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and allows the 737 to fly any published approach that has a glide path within the navigational database of the FMC and you can select APP. As we don't have that option I use LNAV and VNAV just as we fly RNP approach's on the line.

@@flightdeck2simdo you remain coupled til final/minimums on an RNP?
@@FBWFTW if the runway point (RW) is coded and the approach is not offset you can use LNAV/VNAV all the way down to touchdown.
@@flightdeck2sim Although I think that the glidepath on an RNAV approach is configured to intersect the ground at the physical beginning of the runway, not a landing zone some ways down the runway as the ILS or PAPIs would point you to. Also, the VNAV component is dependent on barometric altitude, which is never perfect. This is why RNAV approaches can never be considered precision, as 50% of the time your gear will hit grass instead of concrete.
I thinks it’s actually configured to put you 50ft above the threshold. You’d be surprised at how accurate it is so long as the temperature isn’t too far from ISA and you have the correct QNH set. It’s not going to be accurate as an ILS but in most cases it will provide correct guidance to the touch down zone. So much so that we plan to keep flight directors on so long as the FAT is within 1 degree and RW point is coded and the A/P can be used down to MUH. If we notice the guidance deviates from the touchdown zone (most hot days in the summer) we recycle F/D’s.

You know you can click the Proc button I think it's called IIRC in Navigraph to get a very clear visual overview of all avaliable SID:s, STAR:s and approaches connecting to the runway of your choice?

I've only read the Famous Five books but when someone wrote in chat about spooky trains I had a flash back to the Famous Five "Spook Train" TV episode! Why is Flaps 5 the default takeoff setting even when there are no performance limitations? Surely for noise abatement a flapless takeoff would be slightly better?
