Whats up guys I appreciate all the love Ive been ghost for a couple years cause I got out the Honda game but I’m back with a new project soon I’ll put up a video
Dude, I struggled with this for 4 years!!! I garaged my hatch because I could’t get the idle to come down. I went through countless throttle bodies and sensors and all it was, was a $2 part. You’re a life saver. Thanks man. Subbed.
So I have a d16y7 currently stock 1997 civic dx hatch and I got a new throttle body gasket at autozone. I was just making it new and cleaning the ivac and stuff. And when I was done I had an idol issue after not figuring it out I watched your video thinking I would do a y8 swap. Your gasket discovery fixed my issue. Thank you. I will be doing the y8 swap later.
My God, I can't thank you enough for this video. I just did a auto 2 manual/engine swap on my sons '00 Civic Hatch and have this exact problem. The fact that you went over the entire intake manifold vacuum hose routing was great. New sub 👊
I know the video is old. But I just want to say thanks. Because was very useful. The correct throttle body gasket is for a Civic 99-00 lx automatic. Because is the same one that my car have in the old intake manifold. Thanks
I'm about to do this, but, using a 3-stage d15B Intake manifold, which is nearly identical to the y8 mani. Should be interesting. I will post more when I am done. Thanks for the video and tips. This helps a lot.
It worked. Had to plug some inlets that were not used. Amazing how versatile Honda engines are. Everything is compatible. I notice some minor top end performance gains, but just minor. It looks better too.
I have a cel. The mechanic got a throttle body from the junker with a denso IAC valve already installed. Apparently he got one for an automatic because the car is idling at 2k rpms. It's kinda hard to get something for a manual car since mostly everything they sell you is for an automatic.
Yo whats good. First I want to thank you for your videos because they're helping me out a lot. I did have 1 question about the Evap hose you had mentioned. I understand that one hose goes from the intake to the evap but I'm confused as to where the other hose goes. If you have an idea please let me know. Thanks.
Yo I know this video is old but I did the swap Last night and I saw your video I'm pretty sure I got a few hoses wrong with the coolant. So theres a small little tube under the y8 mani. It's red and it turns do I plus that into the 2nd tube under the y8? Then I see that first tube on the y8 that goes right in front? Sorry if this crap don't make any sense.
I’m currently doing this to my 00 coupe I got a y8 manifold from a 99 5 speed and this manifold has a big vacuum port in between the 2-3 injection and idk what it’s for it wasn’t in this video
Albert Hernandez use the y7 injectors and fuel rail with fuel pressure regulator some say the y8 injectors makes the fuel air a little rich so to run the y7 ones
I did mine. And starts overheating. Rad fan doesnt kick in till its on H temp. What could be the prob? All the coolant lines are correct. Tb gasket the same one as well.
Yo my friend did a mini me swap ....he got y8 block and used y7 head vtec and with y7 intake..converted it from auto to manual he now have bad surging issue ..does he need y8 manifold ...manual ecu..
hi I have a d16y8 stock engine and want to put a aftermarket intake but don't know how to cancel the stock vacuum lines that go to the stock intake (hard lines)? my car is a 2000 civic ex
Just finished the swap exactly like yours. Used the right tb gasket and everything the idle is still high... i have the map and tp sensors connected right. I have an extra connection here tho. Black connection with 2 wires. I don't see it in your video
hi , im ready to swap a y8 intake manifold on my d15z5 , i got y8 manifold gastey , but i don't have any idea of the throttle body gasket ... thanks yall
You can use from a stock y8 car or aftermarket I did on mine you have to take the downstream o2 sensor plug open up the wire loom on the harness and route that plug to go back towards the firewall and down where the new catalytic converter is underneath and tape your wire loom back up you can an extension but I like the way I did it. The upstream stays up front on header.
I did the y8 head on a ZC but for some reason i get i issues with knock sensor Iv used two different Knock sensor and both fail, am using the bypass transducer but its not perfect at all times. Did you use a p28 ecu so elemenat the Knock sensor.
hey man few questions i got the y8 mani with the iacv on the back side installed on can i just leave that on and just loop the hoses on the y8 iacv instead of making a block off plate or plugging the iacv holes some how? also did your manifold have the air injection mine has that and i just plan on using some jb weld read on the web they need to be filled i already have swapped a y8 vtec head on my y7 and have a vtec switch triggering vtec off the rpm works great now the y8 manifold is my next mod Thanks!
+InFocusGaming you can leave you y8 iacv on but put something under it to block off the holes...and the jb weld on the on the air injection should work
Jose Morales man your the real mvp thanks for the quick reply i was just looking at it and i can use my old y8 gasket its in amazing shape almost brand new and cut a nice rectangle out of it to cover the 2 iacv holes then bolt the iacv right over it that should work and plug them off im thinking??? thanks
Jose Morales ok man yah ill try it out see what happens and yeah im planning on using my y7 tb with the y8 rotor and using my y7 fuel rail and injectors thanks again man
I did all this and now the car car starts but dies as soon as it starts. any ideas? I had an aftermarket throttle body so it didn't have the iacv on it and I had a plug off a civic that came with the y8 and spliced it in where there old iacv wired in and just used the stock place for iacv on the manifold. marked everything and took pictures and I don't know what's going on
Yo I need help with mine bad I can't find nobody around me for help,I have a y7 motor with a y8 manifold but its a whole bunch of sbit not connect shit block off shot os crazy
hay bro i did a minime. on a y7 block with y8 head. but now my oil light is on i think pump any. words for me. or wat kind of oil pump vtec or stock block
hey man I'm having issues with this, I have a 2000 manual civic y8 IM on a 1998 y7 head.. for some reasons whenever I turn the car on it automatically revs all the way up.. I'm thinking it might be a sensor attached to the throttle body? I blocked off the holes and plugged everything in right.. any help would be appreciated
+Jose Ortega you need to pop the spring and throttle off the the y8 and put it in the y7...you want you throttle to open like like the y8 but on your y7...look closely or very easy to swap over...thats your problem
Whats up guys I appreciate all the love Ive been ghost for a couple years cause I got out the Honda game but I’m back with a new project soon I’ll put up a video

Just did the same swap. Went through it with no issues because of watching your video. Thanks for making the video!!
michael Graves no problem I'm glad it helped you bro
michael Graves is it woth it?
A little better fule economy
+Carlos Arias better throttle response.and since I'm going to turbo my hatch I wanted a better manifold
@@jomi1413 u obviously need to do ur reaserch this swap is high compression high compression is not good for turbo
So I have a d16y7 currently stock 1997 civic dx hatch and I got a new throttle body gasket at autozone. I was just making it new and cleaning the ivac and stuff. You a life saver my civic use to be serging all the time ...now put new y7 gasket it's calm back to normal thanks
+REXX THE KING glad it worked out

New sub 👊
Bro I'm glad I watched your video! I had the 1000 to 2000rpm jump and thought it was my intake gasket. Thanks a lot.
mines is at 5k???
I know the video is old. But I just want to say thanks. Because was very useful. The correct throttle body gasket is for a Civic 99-00 lx automatic. Because is the same one that my car have in the old intake manifold. Thanks
Love your video it really helped me I watched tons of other ones been stuck on this for days thanks man

+Chuck Joseph lmk how it goes glad I could help
Did you do that Chuck if so how was it?
chuck
It worked. Had to plug some inlets that were not used. Amazing how versatile Honda engines are. Everything is compatible. I notice some minor top end performance gains, but just minor. It looks better too.
This is exactly what I need
I'll try I'm not good with cars lol but I will love to learn
+Manny Lopez thats why i make these videos to help others...
I have the same issue. Guess illl need to go get that gasket and hopefully fixes my issue. Mines bounces up n down. That’s my issue
Sorry if it was covered but did u use the d16y7 fuel rail and injectors?
I have a cel. The mechanic got a throttle body from the junker with a denso IAC valve already installed. Apparently he got one for an automatic because the car is idling at 2k rpms. It's kinda hard to get something for a manual car since mostly everything they sell you is for an automatic.
I was literally just reading your thread on the forums lol
So a manual can’t have an idle air control valve?im just asking because I’m doing the swap rn I’m just tryna make sure before I rewire 😂
Very informational, thank you so much
Just one question what did you do with the vaccum hose connection for cruise control on back bottom side of intake
Did you ever figure it out? Same?
same need help
You plug it if you don’t have or aren’t using your cruise control with vacuum caps
Yo whats good. First I want to thank you for your videos because they're helping me out a lot. I did have 1 question about the Evap hose you had mentioned. I understand that one hose goes from the intake to the evap but I'm confused as to where the other hose goes. If you have an idea please let me know. Thanks.
Missing work today bc i did the swap in the past 2 days. Now car idles high when driving and surges stopped. It bogs really REALLY BAD! HELP!!!!!!!!
Bro do you have a wiring diagram of the evap where to connect this one?
where does the longer line go ? "water tube"
Good information sir plz tell me about mainfold housing thnx
Hey man great video. Just curious. For the ecu. You didnt have repin? I just finished a d mini me swap and ran into a few issues....
Thanks bro preciate the help

Did you plug the air injection holes?
I would also like to know. The cold start injector
Good info bro thanks man

Can I use y7 injectors and fuel rail for the y8 swap?
And you said to use y7 throttle body gasket and y7 intake manifold gasket the y8 swap correct
Tb gasket the same one as well.

a question is it mandatory to change the computer ???
Hell yeah man. Thanks
+leoboy191 👍💪
good video going do same for my y7.how much horsepower added or think added?
D.Porcell420 not sure to be honest...i did the manifold swap cuase I'm planning on boosting the hatch...
Great vid, thx man😊😉
Can you blow your motor if you hook the iac tubes wrong?
I will still have to have a block off plate if I want to swap a y8 head on to a y7
hi I have a d16y8 stock engine and want to put a aftermarket intake but don't know how to cancel the stock vacuum lines that go to the stock intake (hard lines)? my car is a 2000 civic ex
Did you have to extend any wires? I did mines following your videos and the fuel injector wires won't reach...did you extend or cut open your harness?
+Mongerz I didn't no have to extended any wires
Did you figure this out. I have the same issue
Just finished the swap exactly like yours. Used the right tb gasket and everything the idle is still high... i have the map and tp sensors connected right. I have an extra connection here tho. Black connection with 2 wires. I don't see it in your video
Jose Grimaldo did you use the d17 Trottle body
Jose Grimaldo not sure what 2 wire your talking about
I did use the y7 throttle body with the correct gasket like your video said. The connect I think is for evap.
Its either the evap or the sensor used for the intake
I'll make a vid going over what sensors and hoses connect to
hi , im ready to swap a y8 intake manifold on my d15z5 ,
i got y8 manifold gastey ,
but i don't have any idea of the throttle body gasket ...
thanks yall
+Hiro tanabe in the video I show you witch one to get...
+Hiro tanabe you need the throttle body gasket for your d16y7 not y8
Is that from a 96-98 or 99-00 y8 intake manifold? And to clarify did you used auto or manual manifold? Lmk I’m about to do my 00 ek hatch
Manual
What if you're running this setup on a automatic, would you need the manual or automatic TBI gasket?
Did you even find out? Because I got this same question
What size hoses did you use for the ones that were to short ?
What gasket did you use for the intake manifold to block y7 or y8
+Portland Sstar y7 y8 its universal
I have a 99 d16y7 do i need a manifold of the same year or i can used one from 97
Gonna put headers on it ?
+Mike Smith yea I put some cheap ebay headers before I go boost
You can use from a stock y8 car or aftermarket I did on mine you have to take the downstream o2 sensor plug open up the wire loom on the harness and route that plug to go back towards the firewall and down where the new catalytic converter is underneath and tape your wire loom back up you can an extension but I like the way I did it. +sazon1974 ecu and wiring all stock
+sazon1974 I used the factory ecu
deam bro nice video you post
+edecio castillo thanks brotha
hey man few questions i got the y8 mani with the iacv on the back side installed on can i just leave that on and just loop the hoses on the y8 iacv instead of making a block off plate or plugging the iacv holes some how? also did your manifold have the air injection mine has that and i just plan on using some jb weld read on the web they need to be filled

Thanks!

InFocusGaming try it out or in weld the iacv hole...remember you need to use the y7 throttle body to connect the hoses to the iacv
Jose Morales ok man yah ill try it out see what happens and yeah im planning on using my y7 tb with the y8 rotor and using my y7 fuel rail and injectors
thanks again man
I did all this and now the car car starts but dies as soon as it starts. any ideas? I had an aftermarket throttle body so it didn't have the iacv on it and I had a plug off a civic that came with the y8 and spliced it in where there old iacv wired in and just used the stock place for iacv on the manifold. marked everything and took pictures and I don't know what's going on
+Street find a stock y7 throttle body
JOMI but I don't have the right plug for iacv if I swap the throttle body. it broke off, that's why I was swapping the manifold to begin with
So you got rid of the iac valve ?
Yea but I installed it back cuase I went complete odb1 when I boosted it
Yo I need help with mine bad I can't find nobody around me for help,I have a y7 motor with a y8 manifold but its a whole bunch of sbit not connect shit block off shot os crazy
hay bro i did a minime. on a y7 block with y8 head. but now my oil light is on i think pump any. words for me. or wat kind of oil pump vtec or stock block
xavier vanga not understand your questions.
Jose Morales. do i have to get a sronger oil pump
xavier vanga you shouldnt have to
Jose Morales. are ex and lx difrent
I swaped y8 motor for a y7 to my car can i only put the intake y8 normaly ??
+Xavi Af what year is your car
If I get an automatic y8 mani, do I still have to get that plate cover?
Yea you can use an auto...no plate for iacv need to be use
That valve cover needs a paint job but great video 👍
hey man I'm having issues with this, I have a 2000 manual civic y8 IM on a 1998 y7 head.. for some reasons whenever I turn the car on it automatically revs all the way up.. I'm thinking it might be a sensor attached to the throttle body? I blocked off the holes and plugged everything in right.. any help would be appreciated
+Jose Ortega check if you have an air leak somewhere around the throttle body and manifold...spray some brake cleaner around
+Jose Ortega you made sure u have the rite throttle body garsket?
+Jose Ortega on part 1 I talk about you need to use... the y7 throttle body with the y8 spring and throttle for your cable...thats your problem
I have a 1998 honda civic lx d16y7 non vtec
I got this y8 IM off a 2000 ex civic.. I got both the y8 and y7 throttle body's and tried both ..
+Jose Ortega you need to pop the spring and throttle off the the y8 and put it in the y7...you want you throttle to open like like the y8 but on your y7...look closely or very easy to swap over...thats your problem
Where u from how much will u charge me to do what u did to the intake
+Manny Lopez i really dont have time to work on any side jobs at the moment
+Manny Lopez just watch the vid its mad easy
i cant adjust rpms , up and down 1500 to 2000rpms
hows the vtec ? quicker?
D.Porcell420 my hatch is non vtec d16...vtec on a single cam isn't like a b series in my opinion
+Skynet Cyborg better air flow and best if your going turbo
ayyyyy bro Remember me? I told you about how much hp u can get out ur d16... anyway cool vid
Redline Racing yea I remember thanks for passing by my channel bro
Jose Morales im subbed
Redline Racing thanks🖒
He can’t I leave it instead of blocking it off, it’s not plugged in
Questions sir is it fine to run a d15b7 manifold on a d16y7 engine??
Ripped off y7 crap. Gonna do an oil catch can in place of PCV on the bottom part of the crank case. Better than putting oil back through intake.
oreilys is the same shit, backwards
Bro add me on Facebook Benjamin Richards I bought a civic and they trashed all the hoses
