I am 10 years older than my sister and adored her. But…one day, when she was 3, she wanted something I had and I said no so she pinched herself and then ran to my mother to tell that I had pinched her. I was slapped and was forced to give her the thing. I think it went further than she expected because she never did it again and we became very close.

The whole thing with the little brother burning himself on purpose reminds me a lot of the stuff I got in trouble for what my 2nd youngest sister did. Majority of what I got in trouble for is her stealing my stuff because "I didn't put it away good enough". I would put my stuff in the top part of the closet but with us having bunk beds, she would still get the stuff I hid. Most stupid thing I got in trouble for, sleeping in the closet because my little sister threw a fit over the fact that she wasn't allowed to join me.

In my house we would get in trouble for eating cough drops without being sick. One day my older sister quietly offered my younger (still older than me) sister a cough drop, then rated her out immediately for eating a cough drop. They were like 3 and 6, so now we just look back and laugh at it😭

The advice for dealing with special ed teachers being abusive is actually to stop special ed classes and integrate tge sudents with accessibility needs into regular classses by changing the structure of the class to both promote cooperation in learning and promite different learning styles. It actually helps more than just the kids that would have been put in special needs classes and helps kids in the "regular" classes learn better abd help everyone be more socially well-adjusted, which can prevent "behavior problems" in students if implemented early and continued into adolescents.

The lamp story reminded me of being blamed for my bedroom door being broken, but what happened was I made a sarcastic comment to brother, about something he was doing or maybe something he liked, who chased me all the way across the house screaming about how he was gonna kill me cause he hated me and broke my door down when I went to hide in my room. I never got a new door, and when I would ask for a new one mother said “you broke it you have to buy the replacement” I don’t think she remembered coming to to drag brother away from my bedroom after she heard it brake.

Group came on public radio to talk about their grant program for homeowners to fix up their homes. The idea was to keep long-time residents in their homes rather than being forced to sell and move. So host asks if the program was open to anyone who met the requirements. The grant person said yes, except they were trying to give the grants only to a specific minority group and people from other races were not the intended recipients. The radio hose was audibly shocked at this blatant racism but didn’t challenge the reply. 100% lawsuit incoming. the story where the op was being abused by her teacher kinda reminds me of one of my teachers from high school, who decided to hate me when I made it clear I didn't like the film we were studying. she also hated me because I was a bit too advanced for that class (usual problem I keep experiencing; I miss out on a crucial step of learning something for some reason, and because I don't have that crucial step I can't be put into the class that I'm at the level of, instead having to go down to a lower levelled class because I needed to learn that one step which is never covered by that class because it's too busy ensuring you understand everything before that level...) so she started marking me down for the pettiest reasons. I'll never forget the time she told me I needed to make eye contact (something I am normally highly averse to) when I had been either making eye contact or trying my absolute hardest to make eye contact. worst thing she said to me was that I would never pass that class - which I did, and now that I'm in university the subject she taught is my major, so joke's on her lol

So I’m the video it talks about how to help in certain situations when you need help from CPS or police. I’ve learned in my own experience that the longer you wait to say anything, the less likely something will be taken seriously. Something I would recommend doing is to record the conversations/arguments. You don’t need the person to be visible in the clip just try to get the audio then put it in your hidden folder in photos or you can send the video to someone you trust and then delete it from view of your phone (more witnesses, more likely of proper help). Also write down in a journal every time something happens and put the date and time on it. If you’re nervous of the person in question to read it, some good places to hide it are underneath a mattress or in a hoodie pocket in your closet. Stay safe and I hope this helps anyone who needs it.

I do slightly understand stores who don't want folks to dumpster dive. A lot of food is thrown out for good reason. If someone were to take a pack of ham or something and got sick off it, even if they make a full recovery, that might leave the store/company liable for all kinds of accusations and law suits. Then again, food waste is still a big issue. I work in a store and we take part in this program where anything that we can't sell but is still safe to eat is taken by a volunteer and shared with the community. We make efforts to make sure anything that we put in our bins has good reason to be there. If you're a diver, just mind what you fish for 😅 we do throw away some nasties

I was that weird kid in school.
Apparently, being autistic during my time wasn't being looked into enough, and my tendencies to cackle at dark jokes and openly ponder about weird ways I'd want to die would appear unsettling to children (as well as some of the teachers). Yet despite all of this, I was liked, at least in some capacity, as I seemed to bond better with other eccentric minded kids.
The athletes and the preppy kids? Nuh-uh.
They often looked upon me with a great disdain, sometimes even fearful if they managed to look me directly in the face. Perhaps they thought I was just an ugly kid, but it seemed like instead of looking at me, that they were staring into the abyss. There was even one kid, who basically waited until high school (when he befriended the jocks from other schools), and used them to threaten me. Nothing really came of it. He couldn't be asked to do the deed himself.
To make a long story short, my 'popularity', if you'd call it that, was the means of making the actual popular kids nervous; giving them the impression that I was a serial killer in the making. I played into the stereotype, and for it, kept a lot of unwanted eyes off me.
    High school was fun. ☺😈

This may make some of you all feel a bit better:
My late wife was a middle school math teacher for a while. One afternoon, a student (roughly 6th grade) came in, sat at his desk, and started to quietly sob... Conversation goes:
W: Are you ok? What's the matter?
S: My girlfriend just dumped me.
W: I'm sorry to hear that. How long were you two together?
    S: Since first period...

Yaaaaa, "potato masher"... Listen, fun fact, back when alchemy was both a thing (before chemistry) and was also outlawed, alchemy recipes were just written in code as cooking recipes. This is why some very old recipes have measurments make no sense and if followed exactly taste awful, becausw you don't have the right code to know the real ingredients for whatever the heck the recipe was actually for. Or like how people can sell "super expensive unbleached flour" for "baking purposes" and some adult cartoons make episodes about it. humans have been "mislabeling" and coding things to sell, make, or trade literally since the first instance of contraband or prohibited activity. Pretty fun to learn about tbh. I mean you have picknicks with "tea" during the alcohol prohibition in the usa, with people probabky selling "secure tea pots" so your "tea" doesn't spill while traveling to your picknick. It was a covert flask for moonshine if you didn't catch on.
