- On 4 October 1957, a Sputnik 8K71PS rocket launched the Earth’s first artificial satellite - Sputnik 1. The satellite was a metal sphere (58 cm in diameter) with four external radio antennas to broadcast radio pulses. Sputnik 1 was launched into an elliptical low Earth orbit and burned up into the atmosphere on 4 January 1958. The iconic signal was broadcasted until 26 October 1957.

65 years ago Sputnik proved we can stick stuff up in orbit and transmit a signal back. Today satellites the size of Sputnik are continuing its legacy. #Sputnik65
This Soviet rocket looks like futuristic for its time.
Every missile looks futuristic
The legend of Soviet 🙏🙏🙏
The very first satellite.
the moon was first

Earth is strong!
1:15 that looks like a vanguard rocket
I believe it was an R-7 Semyorka that sent Sputnik. Kinda like a Vanguard just thicc at the bottom
Keep in mind Americans didn know how it was done, its possibile artist went with vanguard like vehicle due to having no other refference.
Is this footage able to be used for educational filmmaking purposes? I've found parts of this footage in the public domain, but I've not been able to find footage from 0:00 to 1:06 and would love to use this footage for educational purposes.
Watching from India 🇮🇳🇮🇳💯
Iam proud
Earth proud.
The rocket shown during the daytime is different from the launch itself. The Fairing is just longer and sharper than Sputnik.
Wow thats great..starting of technology was begin from there
Sorry I didn't read the description. Anyway I liked that satellite.
❤️❤️❤️
How long did it stay in orbit?
+David Smith Please read the description
The satellite flew 92 days and made 1,440 orbits around the planet, until it entered the atmosphere and burned down
Thanks for the info. I'll read the description next time :-)
@@LediNoch37 so wait when it lost contact how did the soviets controll the satellite to burn down in the atmosphere

why they address "russian" instead of "uni Soviet"?
Russia comprised some 60-70% of Soviet Union, it was the place where communism gained power. And the capital was in Russia. That should tell you something.
How they did that with no comunication betwin the rocket and earth?
