    So smooth on the G&S!!!
    Was also surprised at how much flow and modern turning style was possible on what looks like a chunker!
    Kudos for ripping it, and stoked on the history you give.
    Yewww!

    Totally cool surfing that G&S, I use to ride Robert August back in the day, when he had his shop downtown HB. Keep um coming,it's like surf shredding with some surf history. thrown in.

    G&S also had the contract to make MR twin fins back in the day. the star system does have a slot you can put a plate into and screw but their main plastic fins had a tab that would bend and then lock the fins in place.

      No way I didn't know that....that makes sense. Wow even back in the day they had the Mr Twin...pretty sick. That's a good little bit of history/knowledge..thanks for sharing!

    Center fin box is likely a Star Systems box, developed by Paul Borderi, who ran the G & S factory for ages. Paul was a design innovator and made of of the first twin fins ever. He was a lovely human being to work for, brilliant and hilarious---quite the counterpoint to solemn, ultra serious Larry Gordon, who co-founded G & S with Floyd Smith.

      Interesting.... I have a Canyon board that was shaped by Rusty before he became "R." It has the star system box in it. Pretty rad stuff!

    Given the history and the production of th G/S i would not describe that as a "" very old " surfboard

    • @used_surf
      @used_surf  Год назад

      In the grand scheme of things I see your point. But for me, it's almost twice my age...that seems pretty old

    Lose that third fin and tape the box, it'll be really squirrely at first but once you get it dialed it'll be like a skateboard, third fin too much drag only for big big days.

      Not to bad when your doing small spots for ding repair. But yeah sanding a whole board with no shirt would not be a good idea 🤙🤘
