    At 8:20 if you would, stress that the switch needs to snap in place . I didn't get mine right, and twice had to pull it. One side did click, but only made contact with the rear passenger window. This video saved me 150 bucks, THANKS!

    John, just want to thank you again for this video. It did in fact cure the sporadic lazy master lock/unlock switch on the driver side. Just a suggestion to those who may be attempting this hack. I'd suggest that in spreading the sides of the switch enclosure to release the housing to get to the circuit boards that you might consider cutting some strips of thin corrugated cardboard (about 1/16 to 3/32 x 1/2 x 1 in.) one for each slot about 8 total. Insert a small flat tip screwdriver and slide the cardboard tab in next to the slot to keep the stays from preventing sliding the housing out. This should ensure that the housing will slide out easily. Remember...take your time...slowly ease the housing out...and be gentle in there !! :)

      Great suggestion - my blue trim tool worked pretty well but you can only do one tab at a time. Trim tool was part of a set from Harbor Freight, item #67021.

    Great video thxs. You need to remove the door panel to unmount the control panel from the inside. There is a screw on the front that is accessible from inside the panel. I couldn’t lock my doors or control the passenger side window on my 2003 Chev Z71 but after following your instructions and cleaning up the contacts with alcohol wipes Voila she works again 👍

    • @bjohn8059
      @bjohn8059  5 лет назад +2

      Yes I forgot to show that where my screw attached inside the door panel was already broken - the back clip still works and I secured the front with super strength double sided tape - holds like iron yet removable.

    Thank you for the instructional video. My 2003 Tahoe LT driver’s door lock switch wasn’t working. I took about 30 minutes to remove, fix as you described, and replaced.
    Works great! The forward plastic post which helps hold the assembly to the door panel was also snapped just as you suggested it wold be.
    Note: The assembly fits so snuggly into the door panel that that forward broken pin is actually redundant.
    Thanks again, sincerely,
    Dennis in Coeur d’Alene, ID

    2003 avalanche, unlock not working on drivers side. Got it to program off pass side. Finicky thou. You have off-acc-run-start. I went hold unlock button, acc-run- acc -run let go unlock. doors auto lock-unlock. Hold down lock and unlock on fob till it works locks seem to take 30 seconds. it will erase all fobs that use to work so take next fob and hold lock-unlock till it starts working. Can program up to four fobs.May have try it a few times to get in program mode. Good luck.

    • @bjohn8059
      @bjohn8059  6 лет назад +2

      The rear tab where the end of the switch assembly snaps down in is part of the door panel. I don't know what it is called but I think you have to replace the whole door panel in order to get another one. *** Mine was broken on the passenger side and I use double sided pressure tape to hold the whole switch assembly in place! *** Works great!

    • @bjohn8059

      Hi Steven - The front post on mine was already broken, but the back piece (the white rectangle) was fine - I used some, thin, extra strength double sided tape to hold the front of the master switch in place - hasn't budged. *** I don't think the parts are replaceable, but used door panels are available at the local junk yard or on Ebay - Good Luck! ***
