Jetting, float height, clip position, synchronization, I love doing that kind of work. We got a 73’ Triumph Bonneville in the shop, had a set of remote bowl Amal’s on it, the young techs couldn’t figure out where to plug the computer in LOL, I said gimme that thing.

I've got a 1994...it's a fun bike for sure. The hot mods back in the day were a devol linkage to fix the yamahop and a long rod kit (spacer under the cylinder, 89 crank, longer power valve - all not available anymore)
Yes. I have the 1994 as well with the '89 Cylinder and long rod kit. Runs perfect, great bike!

The 93 and 94 were the best yz’s. They regressed a little bit. I bet this hangs with a 2021.
Might be pretty close, but isn't the frame and suspension way better on the 2021? Or is it all hype you think?
@@productions6994 sss suspension is legit but it’s all rider. I definitely like the steal frame more. There’s a reason why the ktms still have it. Way better than the stiff aluminum

My 94 was the best YZ or WR 250 I ever had....after the Emig head mod that made it smooth as silk and indestructible, and was then "raceable" on non-ethanal pump gas (classic basic gasoline). Would top out at about 83mpr on gravel with no "run-on" or lean feel at all.
I bought a 94 brand new and put more hours on that bike than any other bike I’ve ever owned. It never let me down. I did maybe 1 top end rebuild just for the heck of it. That bike had thousands of hours on it. It was ridden at a minimum every sat and Sunday 5/8hrs for 4 years until I bought my 98 new. Then 00, then 01, currently on a 2013 YZ250. There is no other dirt bike for me.

I remember back then the long rod kit ('89 rod and spacer) made the '94 motor a champ. I have a '94 as well and can't find a new crank, where did you get one?
I didnt know about that mod, I almost did the Noleen 360 kit, but opted out. I did the Emig head mod, - it did wonders.

larocco won the championship in 94 on a kaw and emig rode yam in 94 and said it wasn't that great i've got one i'm no pro but love the bike

Hey Junior or senior did they make a special edition or a limited edition YZ250 in 1994 I know they made a limited edition YZ 125 + 93 somebody trying to sell me a YZ250 94 said it's a rare special edition bike

Old yamaha bullet proof early 2000s and up from what I seen nothing but issues. Had a brand new yz250f never started always ran like crap. They take 100 kivks to start even when warm
I think you had a lemon. Happens with every brand. I've grown up with 2000's Yamahas, both 2 strokes and 4 strokes and they have all been rock solid bulletproof. My local track, which was built in 2002 has been "dominated" by Yamahas and Hondas all these 18 years. I know some of those guys. They are very brand loyal and have always praised Yamahas for their reliability. But I do agree, that the older 4 strokes (pre 2006) were hard to start when hot, but obviously that hadn't anything to do with their reliability.
