Nice compilation. Since you tossed in one-of’s, thought I would mention the Jaan Uhelszki appearance with Kiss in September 1977 for an article with Creem Magazine “ I was on stage with Kiss.” They did her makeup as a mesh of all four, similar to the Hotter Than Hell back cover art. Anyway, thanks for this. A few I had not seen…
Vinnie Vincent is the Wizard. Gene Simmons cites this in his book and in other videos. Paul said the idea at that time was to promote Vinnie as the next "guitar wizard."
@@CrissPOPS “At around that same time, we decided to drop the one visual element that had been associated with KISS most strongly and from the very beginning: our makeup. When we started working on Lick It Up, it was a good time musically. We had Michael James Jackson producing once again, and Vinnie Vincent was our guitarist and a contributing songwriter. Vinnie and Paul were particularly successful during this period; the two of them wrote “Lick It Up,” the title track from that album. In the middle of recording the album, more or less out of nowhere, Paul pulled me aside and said, “Gene, I think it’s time to take our makeup off.” His reasoning was sound - with all the personnel changes, we had moved farther and farther away from plausible characters. Vinnie Vincent’s character, the Wizard, wasn’t sticking with fans the way the Demon or the Starchild had. “Let’s prove something to the fans,” Paul said. “Let’s go and be a real band without makeup.” - copied from Gene Simmons’ KISS and Make-Up: Pages 191-192. There is nothing stated here at all that says his Wizard character is or ever was 'unofficial', and Gene has repeated this in different interviews. The crescent moons on his jacket and pants were also representations of magical symbols or charms found on a Wizard's hat. He was even referred to as Vinnie 'The Wiz' Vincent when they promoted him to the fans. The 'Ankh Warrior' thing came along sometime in the 1990s long after his tenure with the band.
This was fun & interesting. Especially love the Bald Eagle!! I was bummed they never made any new characters after Vinny & Eric, as well as was annoyed they had Tommy & the other Eric just be Ace & Peter's characters.
Exactly. Originally Gene and Paul had that respect and retired the makeup with the departure of that member. Creating new characters for Eric ,and again for Vincent. Guess they didn't see the dollar signs as big if Eric and Tommy were new original designs. I stopped paying attention to their B.S scam after the 2002-03 Farewell Tour anyway.
@@silentrage8961 As controversial as this may be, I think if they're going to have new ppl play old characters, then they should do what Gene (seriously or not) said a number of years ago about having himself & Paul replaced & have KISS be one of those never-ending touring acts like Menundo.
@CrissPOPS wow. I never heard that story. I'm from Long Island, and Bobby didn't live far. I saw him Play with Black Sabbath worh Eric Singer and Ray Gillian in 1986. Used to see Bobby at clubs all the time.
You know why they never created characters for Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer cause they wanted everyone to think Ace and Peter were still there to sell tickets otherwise they would have never made it to the end of the road Paul Stanley is nothing but a hypocrite and ass

I think Eric Carr should have been the "bandit"
Now do a video about them using hair wigs
I think instead of "star child" go with "superstar."
That's not his doing. That's the official name.
Or synching Stanley
Amazing video.

When was Bobby Rondinelli in KISS ????
He wasn’t. He auditioned for them when they were looking to replace Peter back in 1980. He was the second choice if Eric Carr didn’t want to take it.

There is only One Spaceman "Ace Frehley" and one Catman "Peter Criss" the others are not
