Love the go kit. I have that FX-4CR on my list to get as a "reward" after I learn cw this winter. Love what I see about that radio and it goes great with your set up.
To me, 100 watts in my truck is QRP and I don’t feel stopping and spending 10 to 20 minutes to setup the radio and antenna is a good use of my time. But I am mainly a Contester and DXer, but I do enjoy running QRP (Quite Respectable Power). When running mobile I tend to QSY to different bands and thus my radio and antenna needs are very different than yours are. We don’t have a lot of people on repeaters and not a lot of repeaters. So HF is my main mobile radio is HF and if I did want to go down to 5 watts, my radio will allow me to do that. It may take 100 watts to make an emergency contact, especially on the low bands with a lot or QRN.
First thing I do when I get a new vehicle is put a RigRunner 4005 in. Especially easy to do in an F150 near the grommet that comes through the firewall, wiring it direct on fused lines to the battery. I run my installed VHF radio off of it, as well as other small DC items. It also offers power for a situation like this, or other mobile/portable ops.
love the video. great antenna kit. may get one soon. I will link one of the halfwave to get more bands. 15/17/12 meters. it's just a cut point put in the link and tune and done. love that mast. ! I think it fits in the drive over mount DX engineering has. was wondering has your antenna kit been cut and tested at 6 meters? I want to make a few. going to wind one 64:1 and outher 9:1 . bring them all have fun. 73's

Thanks!
Thanks for the super chat!!
I see room in that lower compartment for a full time RPI 5. Maybe in 2024? I got mine on pre-order. Thanks for all you do Jason!
I pre ordered one as well :-)
much better without that headrest in your way. That compartment you found is where I install siren amps and light controllers.

You have the most informative videos. I always wish I lived closer to you as I’d love to just pick your brain for an hour or a month 😂
I love my FX-4CR! Been using it for all of my POTA activations since I got it! 73!

Please cover the rig, take off back to look inside, keep up the good work.

How does this set up handle summer heat?
Not sure as I haven't had a chance to run it during the summer months
Did that case come with the FX-4CR? Mine in transit. Cant wait to play with this radio.
Yes. It came in the case 🙂
a lot of the newer vehicles just don't have the place to mount a radio well.
Tell me about it!
Are you running digital on 2m? Details?
Yes. Both APRS & Winlink. I use the laptop that's in my backpack and a mobilinkd TNC 3
Hold up! There's a compartment under there?
:: Abandons desk, runs to truck::
Does yours have the compartment as well?
@@KM4ACK 2013 and IT DOES! I had no idea. Well this opens some new options...

I just ordered the FX-4CR. What turner are you using with the radio?
Elecraft T1 or MAT Tuner mAT-10 work great.
Genuine FX-4CR hasn't been orderable for weeks? Is this a clone or is there a trick to ordering?
