This was probably one of the most helpful videos you've done. And thats saying a lot because you consistently put out quality content. Great job and thank you.
Yes I would agree with the comment below!! I've been playing since 78 and never looked at soloing this way before. You definitely have a knack for explaining things in a way that makes it easier to understand. Now I'm chasing chords all over the fretboard! Wish I had learned this in 78 or 79! Thanks again for what you do! I may just have to buy your blues course!
this is a fantastic lesson. love this style and sometimes i get stale always do the same things. now i see now these types of players think (im a shredder) so this is exactly what i needs to pull my style where i want to be at certain times. thank you
Many thanks, Brett - I've been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out to move within a position, /vs/ just moving the shape up/down the neck. Taking your practice suggestion (finding all the chord shapes w/in that position has been eye opening.
Thank you for this lesson! I've seen a few others months ago and this one made me subscribe just now. I trust your knowledge and plan to learn what you suggest. Thanks!
I follow most all of your lessons. I missed the one where you told us about the hole on your pick guard. Volume is out. I have been turning my Les Paul's into case Queens. My white Strat is my on stage, record and play till I'm dead guitar. I depend on the on board controls. I am learning from you and what you have there might be as valuable as this lesson. Thanks KP
Hey papa absolutely dig the lessons man thank you, could you do one in a million by gnr please , love the steel strung acoustic guitar then over driven electric .
Awesome brother. You are advancing my guitar playing by leaps and bounds. Thank you. Please teach us "Take it outside" by Brantley Gilbert. Caught him in Dallas last month. Ridiculous.
not only the best on you tube, the best teacher i've ever had...Thanks again for the knowledge...Would you be opposed to sometimes running a backing progression track to emphasize effect?
Love your lessons and teaching style Papastache! I began my journey of learning to play guitar late in life (50s) about five years ago. So far I have mostly just learned chords and rhythm strumming and I can now play about 40+ songs and can even do a bit of chord embellishments as I play (thanks to many of your lessons and Marty Schwartz). But I would like to learn some soloing. This lesson seems to be a bit advanced for me. What Papastache lessons can you point me to that will help me with basic building blocks of beginning to learn to solo? Thanks!
Never to late to start! Check out the papastache102 channel, there is more soloing tutorials over there. I think a lot of the videos are in a playlist on the main page. Thanks for watching!
Please do a lesson on "Might as well get stoned - Chris Stapleton" and maybe include Soloing licks, or explain the scale being used!! Thank you thank you!
great lesson thankyou! Im a Pappa, but I dont have a stash these days, but I do consider myself, master of my domain, rock on!! woops just realised its stache as in moustache, my bad.
+PapastachePop for my 6v6 amps I prefer and use VHT and Laney and for el84 I love my modded Crates V5 and V18, Modded Epiphone Valve Junior and Jet City JCA22H 20w through a Peavey 1x12 with a Celestion tube 12 speaker....ahhh I love my tone! pedals very few Vox Wah, TC Electronic Dark Matter, EHX LPB -1 Power Booster, EHX Screaming Bird Treble Booster, EHX Memory Toy, Boss DD-7 and then my EHX switchblade plus....I think that is a modest pedalboard ... I never have more than 2 or 3 on at one time...
+PapastachePop Do you know much about p90s? I use p90 Les Pauls and Ibanez JTK for my preferred single coils and ESP LTDs for my humbucker guitars...I am looking to get a Epiphone Wilshire and another Fender Esquire.... Great lessons man you are a great guitarst....jtbomar.bandcamp.com if you want to hear my music.
I’m hitting notes of the g major triad and a minor triad. Those two chords are in the same key. Why does it sound sour when I hit the a note in that a minor chord?
Just takes some practice. Also just try to observe where the licks you already know might be hitting the same chord tones. Oftentimes people already know licks to use its just using them at the right time that makes all the difference.
They're the same word practically. Although 'intent' is normally used in legal matters, or if someone is meaning to do something bad, eg: his intent was to kill....or criminal intent, or it is the court's intent etc etc. If it was something good or not relating to law etc, you would use intention, eg: my intention was to take a vacation. That's how I look at it anyway. Could be total shit lol.

Your tone was beautiful dude! Any pedals or is that just the amp's distortion?
Thanks! Its the amp with mild gain and then an RC Booster into a divided by 13 lift pedal both with just a bit of boost into a line 6 echo park.
What year is that strat, or is a custom shop?
Thanks for the lesson, Papastache. ARe those Lollar pickups in your bad boy Strat?
Yep! Lollar Imperial low wind in the bridge and S Series single coils.
I’m hitting notes of the g major triad and a minor triad. Those two chords are in the same key. Why does it sound sour when I hit the a note in that a minor chord?

Making licks out of the shapes is the hard part for me.
Just takes some practice. Also just try to observe where the licks you already know might be hitting the same chord tones. Oftentimes people already know licks to use its just using them at the right time that makes all the difference.
targeting chord tones helps immensly.
mmmm coffee.....good...
Yes!!
"for all intents and purposes"....intensive doesn't make sense at all haha
thumbs up, great vids :)
Haha! You are right. Must have just slipped out.
Mox_au Intents, short for intentions?
They're the same word practically. Although 'intent' is normally used in legal matters, or if someone is meaning to do something bad, eg: his intent was to kill....or criminal intent, or it is the court's intent etc etc. If it was something good or not relating to law etc, you would use intention, eg: my intention was to take a vacation.
