Amazing tying Davie! It warms my heart to see our national fly to be tied by one the masters. Result is great since you haven't tied this one before(?). Biggest grayling with this fly has been exactly 5,29 pounds in 1969 (around 24,5 inches)... Once again, helluva tying. You're the best.

Greetings from Finland. Nice to see our national fly tied here and tied nice even. This is a great fly here in north. One of those "must" flies to carry with you on the streams. Just next to Goddard Caddis. Thank you fot tying this great piece of art.

I have had a piece of natural brown bear fur since 1976. At last i have a use for it! Love your occasional excursions to the flies of other countries! Thanks as always, Davie!

Only one thing. Normally we tie this here in Finland with the bear hair another way around. So the cut ends are the top of the wing. Dont know if you understood and it doesnt mean anything, just wanted to say.

Nalle Puh is finnish for Winnie the Pooh. Nalle is also a "nickname" for bear. More of a Teddy bear to be precise.
Anyway, a great video from Davie and a great fly. Especially for fast waters but works well on lakes also.

Hi Davie, thanks for your answer. I tried fox tail and racoon tail yet. Fox tail looked really good, the racoon tail is a little bit to fluffy for me.
    Ciao for now

My patches of bear were too stiff and very slick, like squirrel tail, so I substituted the black-haired butts of the calf tails I have. I did use the bear under fur for the abdomen though. Should be very visible in conditions when the sky washes the water white and the ginger should be just enough to see in darker water.

    Hi Davie,
thanks for this nice fly. Do you think it'll work with fox hair too? I have some very nice colored fox, but only black bear. Or is there any specific about the bear hair?
    All the best
