Currently, I'm an anime-only watcher on Higurashi and all I see is symbolism from left to right. That transition to Rika with a wasteland behind her at 0:58 makes me think of Bernkastel's poem: I cannot quench your thirst Because even if you yearn for the truth, you refuse to believe in it. God Syndrome gave me sad vibes but at the same time sounded somewhat calming even though the visuals for it were still sad. Irregular Entropy however, sounds more upbeat and gives off some intense vibes along with the visuals shown. All in all, I still can’t decide which one is better either.
I felt the same. I can honestly say they’re so fitting for where we’re at in the series. God Syndrome was amazing for the earlier parts of the season, giving some subtle hints each character and their struggle (also showing the wholesome moments). Irregular Entropy just fits so well with the more cruel and twisted nature of the show with the eerie imagery (chandelier and featherine) and effects. I’m glad Gou exists soley because it gave us these gems including the OP as well. The lyrics in all songs are so matching for Gou as well. You can tell there was a lot of love and thought put into it all.
Continuing that thought, when the doors to the Furude Shrine open up, we see that something falls down and breaks as Rika enters. Would that be Satoko destroying the fragment of the sword?

When the Shrine opens something falls down and break (and I was referring to that), and then we see hands through Rika's eyes as though they are going to embrace her (which is what you're referring to)

Satoko's family wanted the hinamizawa dam to be built while Rika's family protected the town from the construction. The new generation now has flipped sides as Rika wants out of Hinamizawa while Satoko wants the village to remain as is.

I love that we first see rika falling alone ( her journey trough the loops alone ) Then featherine shows up ( to make satoko a looper ) And then we see both rika and satoko falling trough the loops
I love how Keiichi, Rena, and Mion is just pasted in the background of the ED, they're just not that noteworthy in this part of GOU anymore. We can't even see them clearly because of the panorama.
But somehow, the way they are placed on the background gives the feeling that those fun moments are out of view or belong to the past for this ''new'' Satoko. Yet these moments are also very important to her, so they're right there, in the background.
I saw Higurashi from the first time was released around in 2004. I admired Satoko and Rika's friendship. Both struggeled against antagonists such as Takano and Teppei and teamwork always highlighted despite all adversities they faced. When in this episode I figured out Satoko is the only responsible about loops that involves Rika I was so heartbroken. I took my time to assimilate what was actually happening...I don't know if it will have a happy ending and It get me anxious.Satoko was so dependent on others from the beggining of Higurashi's history and it triggered all this mix of negative emotions inside her at the point to sacrifice their own friends (Keichi, Rena, Mion and Shion) and make them suffer such horrible deaths, including herself, just with the only idea of not losing Rika's friendship. Rika should had gone her own pathway without making promises difficult to comply to Satoko. She increased Satoko's expectations about future of them and finally these are the consequences. Nobody can control what will be our reactions in future, Rika was so focus on going away from Himamizawa during a long time and was so obvious that she will look for another friends and new experiences, and sadly Satoko could not adapt to this new lifestyle because it doesn't fit with her personality. As a great fan of Higurashi, I find almost impossible to overcome how this beautiful and strong relationship between Rika and Satoko ended in this way.Visuals of this ending reflects perfectly what is happening and is very shocking......
Satoko and Rika’s relationship is admirable, two orphans living together, overcoming hardships and have saved each other many times. Maybe the solution to this tragedy is for both to accept they are growing apart. One thing is the Lucia Academy, then what comes after that ? I think Rika should follow her life dreams, she’s doing so well on her own. She’s embracing the future, it’s understandable she’s eager to move forward, but she should be aware of her promises. Satoko however is afraid of the future and persistently clings to her roots. Now her madness is going too far and she takes advantage of her newfound power. Will Gou have a happy ending? Not possible IMO.

Perhaps Rika will use the shard to threaten Satoko at first, but then after she realizes why Satoko was doing all this, she will direct it at herself because she knows that her dying forever is also a threat against Satoko, who clings so hard to her. Damn, seeing this ED again I just notice that, Satoko doing her flip the finger before she activated the trap, and in the last episode when she doing this she died from the murder suicide, then I remember Rika doing the same thing in her last five loops before dying. The contrast here being Satoko do the flip to reset cause she wants it, while Rika doing it forcefully cause she knows she would looping (died).
If you already saw the ending, then you would realize that satoko was the one doing the flips, not rika, it has more contrast on the last loop where she got "hoed" where she couldn't even move her hand anymore

After half of Gou I thought this season was not gonna get any better but after the Satoko revelation Ryukishi flipped my opinion by 180°. That was a really ingenious way to create a new story within a finished story and I want to know more now damn it
actually, they should have droppe the firsts 16-17 episodes and just give this arc as the beginning of the story, this would have been way better and less painful.

Satoko looping hundreds of times is gonna cause Rika to loop a hundred times for each loop Satoko restarts. While Satoko will have hundreds of years of experience under her belt by the time she inevitably becomes Lambdadelta, Rika will have lived for thousands of years, living both the tragedies that Takano thrust upon her, and also living through the trap arcs that Satoko forced her into. It really isn’t any surprise why Bernkastel becomes so much more cruel herself, being forced to the breaking point and then discovering that her best friend betrayed her to let her suffer all over again. Basically, I’m 95% confident that, if Satoko and Rika themselves don’t turn into their witch counterparts, then their lingering souls in the Sea of Fragments will assume their witch personas. Considering the events of Gou, it makes sense. I wonder if they’ll explain at all how Lambdadelta has elements of Takano as well as Satoko, but I trust that Ryukishi will think of something wild, at the very least, to explain it nfufufu
I like what you're thinking. I don't want Rika herself to become Bernkastel but rather a lingering soul of her left behind in the sea of fragments. Rika is too likable for me to become a villain and she suffered too much but never did anything evil. And Lambdadelta does seem to be a combination of Takano and Satoko.
So we know that Higurashi Gou means Higurashi Karma. We know why, i think the chandelier is a good sign to represent the cicles and loops that Rika and Satoko are going through. But It could also mean or resemble the Karma wheel. Its very cool

If you read the VN or the manga of the original, it is revealed that Rika hated the fragments where Satoko becomes abused by her uncle more than anything so she really loved Satoko that much and then Satoko eventually betrays her after getting her happy ending and dragged her back to hell (never ending June 1983 Hinamizawa)...

Even though I know the hand at 1:22 is more likely the representation of after a snap, I can't help but think that it's a certain Umineko character pointing (especially with the fact that the arm width looks to be different between the two arms shown).
This show is such a fucking RIDE for people who’ve been following not just Higurashi, but also the rest of the When They Cry series. I can’t get over how good this is. It definitely makes up for the lack of Ciconia haha hopefully this is a sign that Ryu07 will start being more invested in the anime that comes out based on his stories. More than anything, I would hate a repeat of the Umineko anime’s failures.
Remember that entropy is a fundamentally demonic and evil concept. Satoko is falling into hell and I will be pissed if she gets saved at the end of Gou.

Nah, that's the orange light from the sea of fragments Rika finds herself waking up in in episode 2. The fingersnapping is almost definitely from Satoko, since she even does the same thing at the end of episode 21.
This ending is amazing, love the pictures, and the song is really good too. Much better than most of the hyper or moe garb vibes from a lot of stuff now. I honestly wasn't sure I'd like Gou, I thought the first several episodes were a bit shaky with the pacing, but a little before halfway through it really pulled out all the stops.

I feel like all the times I've seen Satoko with Rika, she's at the left side and I have this weird concept that left= foreshadowing something bad. During the start of the op if you look at Rika's pov, Satoko is at her left side.

Back in season q of Higurashi every ending ended with a prom, was all that prom Said by the different version of Rika
Ugh... after seeing the visual I can’t decide if I like God Syndrome or Irregular Entropy more, they’re both so good...

Damn, seeing this ED again I just notice that, Satoko doing her flip the finger before she activated the trap, and in the last episode when she doing this she died from the murder suicide, then I remember Rika doing the same thing in her last five loops before dying.
The contrast here being Satoko do the flip to reset cause she wants it, while Rika doing it forcefully cause she knows she would looping (died).
If you already saw the ending, then you would realize that satoko was the one doing the flips, not rika, it has more contrast on the last loop where she got "hoed" where she couldn't even move her hand anymore

After half of Gou I thought this season was not gonna get any better but after the Satoko revelation Ryukishi flipped my opinion by 180°. That was a really ingenious way to create a new story within a finished story and I want to know more now damn it
actually, they should have droppe the firsts 16-17 episodes and just give this arc as the beginning of the story, this would have been way better and less painful.

Satoko looping hundreds of times is gonna cause Rika to loop a hundred times for each loop Satoko restarts. While Satoko will have hundreds of years of experience under her belt by the time she inevitably becomes Lambdadelta, Rika will have lived for thousands of years, living both the tragedies that Takano thrust upon her, and also living through the trap arcs that Satoko forced her into. It really isn’t any surprise why Bernkastel becomes so much more cruel herself, being forced to the breaking point and then discovering that her best friend betrayed her to let her suffer all over again.
Basically, I’m 95% confident that, if Satoko and Rika themselves don’t turn into their witch counterparts, then their lingering souls in the Sea of Fragments will assume their witch personas. Considering the events of Gou, it makes sense. I wonder if they’ll explain at all how Lambdadelta has elements of Takano as well as Satoko, but I trust that Ryukishi will think of something wild, at the very least, to explain it nfufufu
I like what you're thinking. I don't want Rika herself to become Bernkastel but rather a lingering soul of her left behind in the sea of fragments. Rika is too likable for me to become a villain and she suffered too much but never did anything evil. And Lambdadelta does seem to be a combination of Takano and Satoko.
So we know that Higurashi Gou means Higurashi Karma. We know why, i think the chandelier is a good sign to represent the cicles and loops that Rika and Satoko are going through. But It could also mean or resemble the Karma wheel. Its very cool

If you read the VN or the manga of the original, it is revealed that Rika hated the fragments where Satoko becomes abused by her uncle more than anything so she really loved Satoko that much and then Satoko eventually betrays her after getting her happy ending and dragged her back to hell (never ending June 1983 Hinamizawa)...

This show is such a fucking RIDE for people who’ve been following not just Higurashi, but also the rest of the When They Cry series. I can’t get over how good this is. It definitely makes up for the lack of Ciconia haha hopefully this is a sign that Ryu07 will start being more invested in the anime that comes out based on his stories. More than anything, I would hate a repeat of the Umineko anime’s failures.

I honestly wasn't sure I'd like Gou, I thought the first several episodes were a bit shaky with the pacing, but a little before halfway through it really pulled out all the stops.
