I remember being off school sick and hearing Starman on the radio, I thought it was an OK song…and then when I saw him on TV, both Lift Off and TOTP…I was like “OMG”!!! and from that day on, like Nick and millions of others became a fan for life!!

What a gem of an interview. Glad to see that Duran Duran are finally being appreciated for the talent they have always had.

Nick Rhodes is an amazing musician and I like to hear him talking about pop culture. I wish long life to all the members of Duran Duran, and of course, Andy taylor and Warren Cuccurullo.

I first saw Bowie at 6 years old when he was on Soul Train in 1975. I was too young to register more than I liked the songs and that he had pretty eyes. He was also on the Bing Crosby special in 1977 that I saw, but I didn't put together that they were both Bowie until I was a teenager. I became a fan of Duran Duran straightaway from Planet Earth in 1981. So nice to see the connection!

I saw a similar thing here in America. I want to say American Bandstand, and Bowie was doing Ashes To Ashes. I saw that and right after that, a bit later, I saw Planet Earth! So, I got a double-dose of the New Romantic thing, but it was Bowie that introduced me initially, even though it was only by a couple of hours.

Wow, Bowie on American Bandstand? I used to watch it every Saturday in the 80s, when I was a pre-teen. There were alot of cool bands on AB. Loved Dick Clark. He was a good host and interviewer.

Love Nick’s stories but wish they hadn’t shot the entire segment from the side of his neck. I always prefer seeing his beautiful eyes!

Maybe you can jump in your time machine and move the person who had a better seat than me so I can film it from a better spot. Thanks. 😉

I still don't know if Nick can play a piano proficiently or if he is just a very good programmer.

Do you also have some Graham Coxon bits from this evening? Because he´s sitting right there besides Nick Rhodes. This is when Duran Duran - Coxon collaboration on Future Past actualy started

Is this interview on Swap Shop? That would explain why the children in the audience keep laughing at things that aren't funny
