  • The poets speak of the mysteries of the heart and many religious traditions speak of the mystery of their god’s love. This week on RfRx, David Teachout joins us in a conversation about love, intimacy, and the very real, behavioral qualities that are at the heart of one of the most powerful of emotional concepts we have as human beings in connection to one another.
David Teachout is a mental health therapist and consultant, helping adults understand their mental journeys of identity and interactions with others, where resilience meets mental flexibility. David grew up as a Christian fundamentalist, attended a bible college, and received a bachelor’s in theology and psychology. (you can hear all about David’s deconstruction journey - along with those of 4 other RfR volunteers - in the most recent RfRx episode on our YouTub. (”Deconversion Story Hour with RfR Volunteers”)

How many of those women were lesbians? How many of those men were gay? How many of "either" gender are the type of asexual or aromantic who are utterly uninterested in sex or relationships at all? 😕
Not sure how useful these heteronormative/amatonormative education statistics are, especially if we're going to base conclusions on them.

All research findings are connected to the populations considered. The questions in the research select for sexual activity, so those uninterested in sex aren't part of the numbers. As with all sociological research, this is about population groups and, as mentioned, should be taken as such. At the individual level, there will be outliers as the individual differences and influences start to vary more.
