Yeah, I agree. His heel-face turn is the most powerful thing in the series . . . and OMG, that freaking scene slaps hard. Resetting Magneto would only diminish this, I don't even give a damn about whatever the comics did. In fact, I would say that comics tend to have too many cooks in the kitchen and tend to reboot and retcon themselves for a reason. This show needs to be allowed to run with this, whether or not it's actually comic-accurate. Relegating him back to 'business as usual' would only hurt the series going forward.
If memory serves right. In the original Animated Series, he's backstory isn't tied to WWII. Xavier said that: "Remnants of the old army that has so brutally occupied his small country returned, attempting to retake it". And the army depicted are not the Nazi's at all. They're wearing green. It was in later series, as well as the films that the holocaust was restored to his backstory. I guess that story element was considered too extreme for Kids Show censors at the time. I could be wrong though.

They did that all the time in the original. Heck. They literally had a spiderman crossover episode and snuck spiderman into the xmen at points in partial shots.
It is, his own people know the horror of being hunted and persecuted for simply being different, yet they were so willing to participate in the same behavior perhaps in the vain attempt of trying to fit in with others. The X-Men comics literally have thousands of villains to use. And there have been lots of would-be successors to Magneto in the Brotherhood. Including his son Quicksilver, who in this continuity hates his father.
I may watch this more if this is version of Magneto aware that him, mutants and humanity are being manipulated by an alien pantheon wanting to enslave their world so they can put their OWN version of their species there. Can't remember the exact comic but it was a thing that was badly written due to being holiday-rushed.
