8:56 they hammer the big bearing - we used to heat them first so they just slid on! Someone needs to teach these guys about thermal expansions and cooling!
@@BuckJolicoeur I think they genuinely don't know about thermal expansion. I had to tell some guys trying to get a big shaft into a big gear last year that the gear needed heating a 100 degrees or so.
For those who don't know that's a flying shear for a hot steel rolling mill that gear is almost never in continuous motion, putting a paper gasket on a bearing block is madness though
My respect for those hard workers, without the tools we use in different Country, the only thing I can't believing they do not use any safety gear, like hard hats, safety glasses, boots with steel toes. Guys wear safety gear in that gearbox Factory.
I don't understand the "great work" comments I see on these type of videos. This is a field repair not a precision rebuild. Will it function? Yes. I cannot understand why these people all work in such filthy conditions. It does not cost to clean up the junk and work area.
Heavy duty but crudely built, there has to be a ton of stress on that cast gear with the shaft driven like that. No doubt this shop was the low bidder for that steel bar cutter.
If I was the clients inspector there is no way I would have passed this G/B. No thrust washer assembly to restrict the end float and I never see anybody checking important things like gear backlash or using prussian blue and red lead on the gear teeth to check how the gears are meshing but who cares the G/B is only for local use.
this way of assembling is fully forbiden technically :you chould never hammering the bearings ;the fonctional clearance will increases andreduces them life
More slobbering, why don't you guys that are supposed to be engineers try to make where you work a bit more user friendly, clear the rubbish from the floor, everything you leave down picks up the dirt and transfers it to what you are working on, why can't ye make up a frame for a hydraulic press, it maybe that whoever owns the business is doing the work for nothing and it's a charity shop?, if so I will donate a broom so ye can sweep the floor.
Are we supposed be believe this was filmed in 1960,or am I missing something? It’s still pretty good.
its not 1960, its mid 2023 for sure...
They are using 1960 methods
@@earlwright9715 see how much they are hard workers , r u admiring them or cursing them???
@@kamalimran7430 why would i curse them? They are working for they and they're families to the best of their ability, with what they have.
@@earlwright9715 Curse their bosses and count their fingers, etc, etc.
Very impressive. Congratulations this is the sort of work the grand-father of our grad-father knew how to do by memory.
Yes, thank you
Fabulous ! I loved the 'drop hammer'
Cheers!
For the conditions that you guys work in you do a good job getting the job done.
Thanks
Do you think you're talking to someone who works there? Are you high?

Those persons who know about the thermal expansions and cooling work somewhere, there they don't allow these utubers to record their activities.
@Circulon154 Read my comment again?
I was thinking the same? Were they trying to save on gas?

I used to make gearboxes just like this in 1985-1990.
And they Still work, right?
@@javiermanuellopezsalinas8339 sure do - super precision and perfect forgings.

Egal mit welchen Mitteln. Diese Männer können noch etwas.
good thing they are all wearing their saftey sandals.
bravo
🙏Good Job people 🌎🇺🇸✊
Should have put some grease nipples or a one way check valve auto greasing canister.......bearings and bushings always need more grease
Nice work👍👍😀😀

heat those big bearings to almost hot coffee heat and they will expand about 6 thou and slide on.

these guys move things that are hundreds of pounds. weld, grind - in sandals.
they actually don't understsand about thermal expansion of steel so they have to do an awful lot of slam fitting with great weights.

assalam alaikum sir ji where is the address of your factory
بسم الله ماشاء الله
Let the shop manager still buy a hydraulic press. Hammering into a gear like a shaft, it's tough.🤔

É tudo na marra, poderia ter uma máquina hidráulica pra assentar essas peças.

next time heat the bearing to 80-90 degrees, it will fit you without a hammer. Regards
