Late 1990s and early 2000s Indy were the best seasons ever. So many names from back then I still remember
1900's CART cars looked so good I remember seeing them in person so simple yet so lovely on the eye not to mention the 90's styling with the livery's is was amazing.
Totally agree, it was peak!
Yep only thing i didnt like was the rear end and oh their was a big gap under the rear wing
I've watched since the sixties, for yrs the cars got better, faster ,& better looking.Up until the late 90s.from late 80s to late 90s was the pinacle..
Mansell/andretti Newman-Haas, Zanardi/Vasser/Montoya Chip Ganassi my faves but there's plenty more 1990's was awesome
F1 and Indycar , beautiful cars!
Wow,Nigel - Tracy battle was fun.He took to cart cars like a duck to water Nigel did.One of the best ever..
Nothing beats the classic Cleveland races
Always reminded me of the Portland race,I believe they were both on airstrips.
Mark Blundell's win at Portland in 1997 was unbelievable, he was an underrated driver who never got a decent car in Formula 1 beforehand
7:55 These moves from Scheckter jesus...
that first battle al Cleveland is incredible
I know I'm watching an incredible battle on track when I find myself saying "Wow! WTF are you guys doing!?" to the drivers. I found myself saying that a lot during this video. Thanks for this series, bro!
IndyCar from 1994 to 1999 had some of the most epic racing I've ever seen, and even know it still destroys Formula 1 for close, hard fought racing
Im a recent IndyCart convert
This is AWSOME 😃
This really made my day!
Thanks!! Love the action!!
Scheckter and maybe Rossi are the only drivers that can pull off those outside moves so effortlessly.
90's Champ Cars are pretty similar to modern F1 cars, long open wheel prototypes with limited aerodynamic not meant to be agile.
I still don't know why I like old CARTs aesthetics waaay more than modern F1.
Because they looked extremely appealing to the eye. Personally,my favourites are the fat turno cars from the mid 80's. I know it's for safety, but I can't really get over the HALO. On the other hand,Indycar did a great job with the Aeroscreen, the cars look good with them.
God damn do I miss the turbo V8s. Low slung cars, monster power and awesome racing.
Oh so this isn't just an F1 thing. Honestly I watched this year's Indy 500 (first Indycar race I watched live) and I was blown away. New Indy is mint.
@@alvmusic4402 IndyCar nowadays is damn good. Arguably the best series out there right now. Other series have issues with their cars or how their series is run, but IndyCar has somehow stayed the course thorough it all.
Those old ChampCars looked amazing too. I'm glad the new IndyCars took a page out of CART's book.
@@trackmaniaracing8163 Have to agree as a lifelong F1 follower. What makes F1 so flawed in comparison is that due to the nature of its game, it's very difficult AND expensive for a constructor to "overtake" another constructor in terms of producing a better car, and even within the same team there's a clear top driver and a wingman. So you'll have very long spans of the same driver and car being champions, the same two teams running up, and nobody else in the field standing a chance - while most of the profit goes to the top teams. Most of the times, you don't even need to watch the races because everything will be the same in the end. As a way for European brands to prove their power, perhaps it works- but Indycar is more well designed as a sport competition.
@@alvmusic4402 Agreed. F1 has several flaws that hinder it. The sport definitely needs some serious re-structuring if it's going to continue as the pinnacle of motorsport.
The Indycar races at auto club in the last 10 years have been fucking insane
As a spectator as well as tracworker from the legendary Milwaukee Mile I miss this. I truly hope that they comeback as well as NASCAR, despite all the political issues that are involved right now...sadly I know and understand more than I should...
these were the days...900 plus hp brutal animals...until they tamed them down in the 2000s
💯% That was the best Racing Series . No paddle Shift. No traction Control. Sound 😆 Great Look. Best Greetings from Germany
March cars of the 80s were nice but damn - the Lolas, Penskes and Reynard Chassis of early 90s are the shit. Probably the best looking era for F1 too - but these indycars are not outdone by cars like the Jordan 191 and FW14b for looks IMO. In fact I'd go as far to say the PC-22 with high downforce wings might be the best looking race car i've ever seen
F1 definitely has beautiful cars but overall, American Open-Wheel takes the cake in terms of beauty. ESPECIALLY the 80s and 90s.
And that my friend is CART
F1 should take a look at champ car late 90's such amazing racing ... unser jr , vasser villeneuve , tracey amazing
why even care to bring up F1 on an indycar video? completely different animals
He’s saying that the racing was exciting and competitive. Can’t tell you the number of F1 races that I’ve fallen asleep to. Fwiw.. I was a fan of both. That said, Tony George ruined things for a period of time. Haven’t gone back to the current Indy Car.
I remember a lot of these lol
What the hell is that circuit/airfield in the first vid? Insane!
A great circuit!
Francesco Satta what is/was it called?
@@Lowdo1549 Burke lakefront airport in Cleveland
I miss Cleveland
The 1998 Indy cars look like earlly to middle 90s F-1 cars
Friend the best battle was Montoya vs Andretti in Michigan 500 2000
It's a long series, the time for michigan 2000 will come :). I felt it was too obvious to put it in the first one.
The best I think was Andretti - Mears 91 Indy, those passes at 220 mph going into turn 1 was risky business.
engine of 2000 > engine of 2018
The American version of open wheel. Big, powerful machines built to win the 500. Almost awkward on street and road courses (many in wrong hands) they complimented the F1 super tech railed cars. Both were enjoyable. Now, Indy cars are mere shells- embarrassing cars really. RIP real Indy cars 1997.
IMHO modern indycar bolides ugly then ChampCars or indycar bolides from mid 2000's.
Why tf was no one at Fontana
Million dollar question :) . It seems like americans just don't care anymore about racing
The race doesn't get promoted compared to the NASCAR events which get the sh*t promoted out of them, and Fontana is kinda out in the middle of nowhere.
If the race was better promoted, people would come. Gateway's debut proved that with the right marketing, people will come to oval races outside of Indianapolis.

Looks like F-e with a CE.
3-4 times the power, proper race tracks, proper noise, proper racing...just like formula e...please

I wonder if there even exists enough material to create a compilation like this but with F1 battles instead, leave alone making as many comps as you can find on this channel. Feels like f1 (both new and old) doesn't have nearly as many battles, most of the races you don't even get one, and if you do then it's no longer than 5 seconds and you already know the outcome. I love both racing series but I wish F1 would "drink" a little bit more from Indycar so at least we have two amazing shows. It feels much more of a driver's sport and not so much of a political shitshow
