    When I was a kid I loved this song, my father got me into wwe, it was well into my adult years that I put together that the mouth of the south was part of this band that rolled over the Beatles when no one thought it could be done. We love you jimmy!

      It's hard to tell how well they are playing on a performance captured on a wobbly cell phone with blabby broads yapping in the background ruining the song...you weren't there so you really shouldn't comment.

    • @savagecatgt
      @savagecatgt 10 дней назад

      @senoryrey6429 the bpm's are lower here than on the original recording to allow for the aging of their vocals to not diminish the sound too much. They likely lack their former elasticity and cannot sing as quickly or play as quickly now. It is no putdown. We all age, hopefully, and this happens. They still sound terrific here imo. Very nice. They know their limits and don't push it. Very smart.

    Worked with Jim Johnson MD in Natchez emergency room 2015-16. We would go through his iPod full of tunes. He kept a list of all songs that mentioned city of Memphis. I added one for him: America's Daisy Jane. Hey Jim, how you doing? From your favorite orthopod.

      God bless you both. Emergency medicine is grueling. You are the real heroes. Thank you for your service. As a doctor you have a choice, a very difficult one, to practice emergency medicine. It is not easy, psychiatry is probably the only similar practice where it is just grueling. No other word. Low pay, in comparison to private practice and the hours, lack or time off. Treated like shit by the hospital board and patients. To maintain a good bedside manner when your exhausted and beat down is so hard. I hope you take time for you. Bless you and thank you.

    The instruments sounded good. Of course they are not going to sound the same. They are 50 years older, and if any of them have been smoking their voice will definitely change.

    • @jerrypender9019
      @jerrypender9019 2 года назад

      When this was originally recorded in the studio, a LOT of special effects were added, especially the reverb and echo on Raspberry's voice, which is rather unique in its sound, along with the fact that the second half of the song is a duplicate of the first half. Without a ton of expensive sound equipment, and a recipe of what effects were added and how much, it is impossible to duplicate the original sound on a live performance. If you watch the various TV performances of this song on You Tube, you will notice they all sound like the original. This is because it IS the original dubbed in, with the Gentrys lip synching.

    It's too bad they couldn't keep that wonderful tight, shuffle rhythm during the chorus that really made the song and drove the dancers crazy. This is not comparable to the original in feel, rhythm, or class.

      The original recording was less then 60 seconds so the producer simply added the break and laid it down again to make it right at 2 minutes long.
