Pouf and youpi saving meruem was actually the wrong move. If they let him die, they both would have had chance to enact revenge on humanity, now that netero is gone, humanity's strength is greatly reduced. I mean there's still chrollo and the zoldycks, but at least they have chance. But since they went to help meruem, they both are exposed to the poison and died
