I purchased the exact same Sony CFD-V15 from the Goodwill here in Saint Paul about 10 months ago for $6.99. Eveything works on mine as well. The FM tuner is a bit touchy on mine as well. My old Sanyo that I purchased years ago at a church rummage sale for $1.00 died. I was about to fork over the money for z new Dony, when, on a whim, I decided to check out Goodwill. I knew this genre of Sony boomboxes was made with some quality, so I felt I really lucked out.
Very nice Sony boombox there. I remember that when I was around 8 years old, I had a Panasonic RX-D10 boombox that my teacher gave me. Your Sony CFD-V15 really reminds me of that boombox, the RX-D10. That was in 2013-2014 I think.
Nice find! As I type this, I'm playing a cassette on my very similar Sony CFD-S33 boombox. The size is identical, the top-load cassette and CD mechanisms are identical, the mega bass port is identical (except the words are on top of the port). The differences? The CFD-S33 has light-touch function controls and a digital function display, a digital AM/FM tuner, and a cloth-and-plastic speaker covering in lieu of the metal covering on yours. It's a very, very nice sounding unit, with only one real deficiency: at times, the sound from the cassette playback intermittently shorts out and disappears for a few seconds. There might be some capacitor or wiring which needs replacement or adjustment. CD playback is fine, the radio sounds good and offers reasonably good reception on FM and (surprisingly) competent AM reception.
I just really wish my local Goodwill would be less disappointing when it comes to boomboxes and stuff like that. Haven't been able to find a decent, local, used boombox yet.

Thanks! That is odd what's happening with yours via the cassette playback.
I remember I had a similar one also from Sony and was blue. That was way back in late 90's.
I still have mine. Purchased in 1998

Sorry to hear. Sometimes I don't find anything for like a month or two. It all depends on what the people within that area donate, and when.
