Theres loads that you missed theres tunnels big enough for tanks, theres areas that had 2 big fires, theres tunnels that go up and down like rabbit holes, if you walk towards the hill closer to customs area,, you will find entrances on the slope. You'll find more tunnels than what you just explored.
@@TheSecretVault - the adolf hitler caricture face carved in chalk is not Hitler, its Oswald Mosely. omg omg omg....... love the historical dover, the castle, the tunnels, absolutely love it!!! lived there for 13yrs and was in awe of it, thanku soooo much for this 🙏
55mins in that’s the same point I was at around 1981 as a young lad, couldn’t believe you’ve been there! Also the razor wire wasn’t there back then!! Nice one Matt, Happy New Year from New Zealand
That looks like East Clif Road, I used to drink in the "First and Last" as a boy when I was at the PWSTS sea Training school. 1955 it was the only pub that would serve us boys.
Thank you for the tour Matthew! I love the chalk with the little chunks of flint in it! You could come back and find that well, although, it could be by Dover Castle! 😂 Trying to go to jail if you mess with the Castle! Love from Oklahoma, have a Happy New Year! 🎆🎊🥳🍻🎉🎇
Pretty sure ive seen the storror guys go down those tunnels down the drop at the start. If not it looked very similar. They get super claustrophobic and go on for a while. Assume drainage or similar.
Great video matt what a place to explore loads more around there to find I reckon some of that was built before the war great explore happy new year to u cheers👍👍👍👍
I used to go to school here, up near the castle by the A2, next to Connaught and you wouldn't believe some of the crazy stuff I saw. Tunnels are everywhere in Dover, whether rail or military built. My old house in my school had tunnels that I saw that were said by an older pupil to link my old school to the castle so probably larger than these ones. Always wanted to go back and have a look but done my back in a few years ago and now I doubt I'd get in to the places you guys do but always wished that I had. If you ever find those tunnels, let me know as I never got the chance to explore them as my housemaster caught us. Cracking video though. Keep it up and if you're in South Wales any time, send me a message.
Completely unrelated to the explore, I purchased a empty usb power bank where you would fill with 20 18650 batteries, it is quite heavy but if you need a long battery assistant that would be perfect, it would keep your lights and cameras charged for hours so no worries about going dark. Sorry for adding this but I thought I’d add. Also I’m trying to imagine what the noise would be like when it was fully functioning. Great place for getting lost lol
Wow, nice tunnels, would be cool if you came back and tried the other spots you spotted for entrances. Would be cool to see the upper levels.. What bag are your carrying when exploring?
I Checked this out a few months back matt and it was sealed. a fella seen me on way out and said, you dont wont to go in there its pitch black😂 as i stood in front of him with me camera light and touch in hand lol.
Water cans I love the squiggly bits and the great history of the Dover cliffs. Do you think they did anything with the leftover chalk bits? Made drywall, I see it was made by picks by the cagillions of pick marks.. maybe by the Chinese? Lool
Absolutely loved watching this, the 2 hours just seemed to fly by. There appears to have been some use as air raid shelters but any idea what the tunnels were originally for?
Those sloping walls beside doorways I believe are for an anti gas blanket.I have seen some on Alderney.I do not know what the blanket was impregnated with nor how people went through doorway.
What an amazing place. You could almost live in there. I noticed the brick walls in the tunnels are rendered! Why? Why make it look like natural stone? I would love to know!
Always a joy to se such _Pristine_ areas of Hidden Heritage! Awesome view of this otherwise Hidden area of Britain, Matt! Great stuff! 👍 *EDIT I just gave my Thumbs up! - but where are the remaining 59k Subscribers!!
Absolutely Brilliant video i really enjoyed it. Great to see Angel having a little outing with you. You'll have to buy her a Cheeseburger to make up for leaving her in the car.
I've seen a few videos about the tunnels in Dover none have gone in at the way I know in there there is a really easy way in up the top of the espalade I found there is a window to get through if you go to the top at clarendon Road up to the tunnels then follow around to the left
come down to swansea and have a look at the tunnels under the enterprise zone i first saw them when i worked in asda you wouldnt believe how long they are
Happy New frackin Year! Matt this explore was very interesting and educational! I wonder 💭 if there are even more secrets hidden inside those 🎉Chaulk catacombs? Best wishes to you all and to all a good year ahead!! See all u losers next year!
That's the one thing I miss about not having hair. The lack of early warning of low ceilings etc. I think I've been here before with IKS? It looks like its been cleaned up. Like the dirt's been swept into piles. Awesome video. I bet Angel was happy to see you come back. LOL Happy New Year from New Zealand Matt.
That's a tile cutter, why would they have a sower runing into an eara where soldiers would be belated, now that is an overflow water course but I bet if you'd smashed your way through those steps would have lead some where
This is now a Matt Christmas classic ... to be enjoyed for years to come.
Fantastic explore!

Can you imagine having that in your backyard Matt ? What a Score !
That first gate you passed has another good explore hiding in the bushes . I’ve a pin if you fancy a visit next time.

Gotta love this set of tunnels!
Gets better as you go deeper
No pun intended

You are a very nice person to show us all the things and your boats trips thank you xxxx
Wow, another epic job, well done, Matt. It's a heck of a layout.
Great explore,thanks Matt and Liam
Meltology still blows my mind. The cooked out melted structures. All red brick then turned to stone. Amazing
55mins in that’s the same point I was at around 1981 as a young lad, couldn’t believe you’ve been there! Also the razor wire wasn’t there back then!! Nice one Matt, Happy New Year from New Zealand
It's really fascinating. Such extensive tunnels dug out but then abandoned.
That looks like East Clif Road, I used to drink in the "First and Last" as a boy when I was at the PWSTS sea Training school. 1955 it was the only pub that would serve us boys.
Fantastic Guys, and that’s what we know. What else is there under those cliffs???

Wow, nice tunnels, would be cool if you came back and tried the other spots you spotted for entrances. Would be cool to see the upper levels.. What bag are your carrying when exploring?
I use a lowepro mini sling bag... The other ways in are probably just dead end tunnels and imreliably told they dont join upper levels.
Wow what an amazing explore epic wish was not so far away
Amazing video mate keep it up matt one of the best channels on RUclips ❤
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you Matthew and Angel's 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Thankyou, really interesting explore. So glad he found his phone… wishing you a fantastic 2024 🥰
I didn't spot the moment he found the phone. How many minutes in did it turn up ?
@@and7barton i cant pinpoint an exact time. But it was just after they found the opening to where there were houses…hope this helps 😁
That was most interesting, thanks guys. ❤
Really interesting lads, enjoyed it well done
Please needs to be re-opened it has wooden board over the entrance. This is on my bucket list please asap, Thankyou for the inspiration !
You should put your own padlock on the gate, then you would get access whenever you feel like it.
best leave as we find. Let others explore.
Interesting place! Watched this with my head ducked down though 😂

Remember visiting the castle with my dad in the 80s you could go in the tunnels via the castle then don't know if they open to the public now
Very impressive.

Hi Liam ! Guys I’m going to have to watch this at least 3 ~ 4 times ! It’s so “rich “ in content!
Nice explore matt
Cool explorer
Very interesting.
The amount of chalk in local Xanax bars 😂😂😂🤔
Could you tell me the coordinates for the entrance
Paul cook would love to see this
Imagine the man hours spent! chalk chalk,…everywhere ,…and not a damn slate to write on!
Theres a hidden entrance on a hill, always open. Its a tunnel entrance which leads into the depths and leads to a garage door just next to customs 😂
I think we may have done that one its known as the Prisoner Tunnel.
Ooohhhh Aahhhh
The reasons for the reinforcements is because they are expecting something to happen and very soon.
I'm surprised no one has made a 'lost tapes' horror down there.
