That's a clever idea from Lionel and you're brave to experiment with it. I'm glad you took the risk, it's really cool. Is there a setting to just have all sections constantly ON or can they only light up when a train goes past? I like your "out-takes" at the end too. Your daughters are awesome to give you such a cool gift.
Thanks Bob.! No Instructions so I had to know.! Yes on the track always on. It's as easy (after you remove the plasic base) as moving the Lionel track connector from the insulated rail to to the other side rail that is not. My girls are awesome and I'm very proud of the upstanding young ladies they have become.! Have a Happy Holiday Season to you and your family.! 😊🎄
It's alot cooler then I thought it would be.! 👍I wouldn't use it on my layout but for under the chirstmas tree it's really cool. It works just fine or better on TMCC fixed voltage.!👍🎄😊
Thanks😊Yes, Brings back awesome memories of my daughters when they were your girls age.! They never helped me clean the track so you definitely have that going for you.! Merry Christmas to you and your family.🎄Mark😊
Thanks Zach.!😊I wasn't expecting this to be as cool as it is myself.! Glad I was able to make it work without spending any more money.! Have a great week and Holiday Season.!😀🎄😎
Thanks Joey.! I really wasn't either.! Very glad it did so I didn't have to spend any more money.! I have tons of transformers I really don't need any more.! 👍😊You are very welcome.!🎄😎
Hey, put some extra weight into all the lightweight cars (like the caboose) Then, you'll have a near flicker free transition with the lighted on the track sections. Good idea with the charger. Don't know why Lionel doesn't make connecting as easy as you did and simply put the money for the wall warts into the train motors instead.
Awesome Suggestion on adding weight.! Excellent idea.! 👍🏻 Pretty sure they want you to buy the wall wart.! Instructions would be a great start.! Very glad it worked and glad to offer different ideas.! Have a great Holiday Season to you and your family.! 😊
Nice Job Mark. I was figuring you could do something similar. It will definitely look cool under a Tree. You would think they would include the Plug In like they do with Lionchief Sets Track.
You would think?🤔The plug would have been really nice for sure. Instructions would have been a good idea as well. I think they expect this to be an add on set for existing Lion Chief owners. Glad I was able to make it work without spending the extra money.👍Have a great week.! 😊🎄
Yeah the tracks come with a accessory track piece for plug and play, my qeustion is can you hook old accessory to the track via this? Anyhow thanks for showing us this!
Yes, As long as you can find the round plug it will be the same as the track voltage. My lights and accessories are powered by a separate transformer so I cut those plug and play plugs off and just use the wires. Glad to help and I hope this is what you wanted to know.
Wow mark you sure are creative on stuff like this and watching that 100+ year old train still working?? wow im impressed by that and i may consider buying that lighted fastrack and doing a vid on that this christmas 😊 and thanks for your videos keep up the good work buddy
@@markslioneltrains yea it gets cold here in florence alabama as well i do have a small christmas lionel train set its battery powered i may do a video on it this christmas
Great video mark. I've never seen track light up like that. That'll look great underneath your Christmas tree. Very unique. Love your videos. Merry Christmas mark.
Thanks so much.! It was way cooler than I thought it would be. Very glad it worked with a regular transformer.! 👍 Merry Christmas as well to you and your Family.! 😊🎄😀
Thanks Scott? I think🤔I have so many Transformers I didn't need another one for 52 bucks that won't even work for conventional control. No train left behind.!😊Merry Christmas to you as well.
@@soukyphetsinor2716 Thanks😊 I really enjoyed making this video. As I remember it was 10 below zero outside just before Christmas and pretty cold in the train room as well. 🥶Glad to hear.👍🏻Mark
Hi Mark - I just bought the Lighted Fastrack and discovered the same thing about power. After watching your video, I'm wondering if I can replace its power track with a regular Fastrack terminal section and hook that up to my CW-80 transformer that came with my Polar Express set. What do you think? By the way, the lighted set does NOT come with any instructions. Thanks. - Tom
Great to hear Tom.! Yes you can. 👍Mix and match fasTrack in as you please. It will all work with your CW80. I have one as well and it works just fine. Good to know about the instructions. Thanks.!
Thanks Hunter.! I use a CW80 for my lights and just got finished testing it for you and it works just fine.! The 1033 Transformer I was useing in this video is 90 Watts.! You are good to go.!👍🎄😊
It works with AC or DC power so I will guess it would work? I know very little about MTH DCS. Maybe test it out at your local hobby shop? I don’t own any MTH engines so I can’t help but to guess? Sorry 😞
@@SHW5010 I’ve got other comments about how loud it is but It never really bothers me. I think that old locomotive is louder than the track? 🤔 Thanks for watching.👍🏻😊
@ I have FasTrack, comes out during the holidays. I’m currently torn between Lionel O Tubular track vs FasTrack. I prefer the look of Standard Tubular but I’m guessing FasTrack will, remain attached better, during toddler play time. Please share any feedback on best O-scale track atop hardwood flooring with two toddlers playing about?
Sorry you feel that way. I wouldn’t use this on my regular layout as it is meant for under the Christmas tree. I’ve heard good and bad regarding FasTrack in general but I have not had any trouble with it. Good thing there are many other track systems available for you and your friends to choose from.👍🏻

My friends and I all agree on one thing: Lionel decided to design by Nerd rather than by Train hobbyist. What a disaster this has proven to be.
