This is the best camper review ever! Thanks for sharing. I have been looking at these online, and also the Runaway campers, trying to decide which would be better for me and my very large dog. I don't want him to sleep in bed with me, and need to figure out how to fit his kennel inside the camper. Would you be willing to do a few measurements? I would appreciate the following measurements 1) the back part of the bed 58"x? 2) the side benches ?x? 3) the height of the benches from the floor to the top (not including cushion) 4) the table dimensions ?x? 5) the distance from the floor to the bottom of the window 6) the distance from the end of the bench to the front of the front cabinets (the floor/walkway space) Thank you!!
Thanks so much! We're glad it was helpful for you. In our next video, we'll also be sharing some more information that we forgot to discuss in this video so stay tuned. We went out and took some measurements for you. But we also wanted to make sure you knew that you can contact Rustic Trail Teardrops and they will work with you to make a custom camper to fit your specifications. Here's a video from someone else who has more of an L-shaped bed setup: ruclips.net/video/lxc9KP3X2rQ/видео.html Here are the measurements that you requested: 1) the back part of the bed = 58"x38"
2) the side benches = 36" x 19 1/2"
3) the height of the benches from the floor to the top (not including cushion) = 16 1/2"
4) the table dimensions = 35 1/2" x 19 1/2"
5) the distance from the floor to the bottom of the window = 28 1/2"
6) the distance from the end of the bench to the front of the front cabinets (the floor/walkway space) - 24" from one side bench to the cabinets. 33 1/2" from the other side bench to the wall where there isn't a cabinet (or 31"ish from that same side to the front of the air conditioner if you get that option.) If you have any other questions let us know. Can't wait to hear more about which camper you choose. Safe travels!
@@TakeATripTogether WOW thank you so much for the fast response! I was sort of wondering if I would be able to curl up to sleep on that front bench (I am 5'6"), and leave out the side benches and table. The dog crate is 42Lx30Wx28H so would just fit under a window. I thought about putting my bed on top of his crate, and extending over the existing back bench portion. It would be a tight squeeze! So hard to feel the space without ever seeing one in person. The Runaway Rouser is much taller and wider, and lighter! But it is such a square shape I felt it would be hard to tow. I really like the size of the Kodiak, but cost is fairly high. Thank you for your help though, and the link. At least now I know it would be possible to fit his kennel inside!
@@chivasmom2024 You're so welcome. It would be nice to have that extra room. Especially the height. I see pros and cons to both so you'll just have to decide which will work better for you. The Kodiak is definitely easy to tow. Have fun shopping and making your decision!
Really enjoyed your video! We thought about buying one of these in 2020, but ended up with another brand. Sold it for more than we paid for it, so they are valuable and the mature set of us love them because they don't really require as much work as a larger unit. Hubby and I have been empty nesters for a bit and wanted to get back into camping as we love travel in general. We recently moved up to a very small camper due to my diagnosis of diabetes. It does take a bit to figure out how you are going to handle your smaller space and that's even when you have a tiny sized camper! Space can get filled up FAST! I was going to suggest that either a roll up pad over your cushions and using a queen sleeping bag helped us to be able to use our table and storage under the seats and allowed us space. Speaking for us, that trifold bed just didn't work as far as comfort, but our teardrop really didn't have storage like that. We miss it terribly and I just looked at RTTC Black Bear and a CampInn. Really loved the ease of just being able to pickup and drop the unit off easy. I hope you both are still enjoying the road and add some more videos soon!
Yes, the smaller campers are so much less hassle to pull and maintain. Not having any water or tanks simplifies things tremendously! And you're right - there isn't a lot of inside space but we've learned how to make a comfortable space outside with our canopy, which makes a huge difference. Sorry about your diagnosis. We hope you're able to get back to traveling as well. It has been a different year for us but we hope to add some more videos soon. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Love this little guy. It is so cute with a surprising amount of storage. We have an Airstream. Which isn’t known for its storage, but it seems to have just about as much. Great tour. Thanks. Bill and DeAnna
Thanks so much! An Airstream was our dream camper for someday but we looked at them at the Grand Rapids RV show and we would have to get a pretty long one to make it comfortable for Dennis since he's 6'3". They are pretty campers, though. Yes, our camper definitely has more storage than a typical teardrop, which is one of the reasons we were drawn to it in the first place. Plus, having a walkway in there rather than just a being a bed on wheels makes a huge difference. Thanks so much for watching!
Do you have a tiny camper? Or are you aspiring to buy a tiny camper? Let us know what questions you have in the comments. We'd be happy to share any other insights we can with everyone!
Thanks for watching! Yes, they definitely give it good support. At first we weren't sure if we liked that type of table but Dennis learned that if he thumps his hand firmly on the table overtop of both supports they lock into place better and make it nice and sturdy. If you have any questions or anything let us know. We'd be happy to try to answer them.
We have the same camper and this is our second camping season with it. You did a nice thorough job with the video and I think you hit on all the main points. We have the same challenges with the organization! Another challenge I will add is when it is really hot out. It can become a real oven unless you have shore power to run the A/C. I also found the A/C unit to be a little underwhelming. We’ve camped in very cold temps and I will take that over the heat any day! Also, we’ve learned to organize our gear by what type of trip it will be. When we are meeting up with friends and family we take different gear than if its just the two of us. A boondocking trip requires different gear than a state campground. We love our camper but anyone considering one should definitely do their research and take these things into account.
Excellent points!!! Yes, we haven't been boondocking with ours, yet. We would love to try that someday but we would also do it in cooler weather rather than hot. We also prefer 50's-70's for camping over anything above 75 degrees - especially if it's humid. I guess that's what comes from living in Michigan our whole lives. LOL We did think of a few things that we missed about the tour that we'll cover in an upcoming video. But yeah, we all have different needs so it's really important to do your research before buying! We hope you have a great camping season.
Thanks for the tour, hey...Angie and I are both 5'5" and I am not sure we would be very comfy. Love your positive attitude. While watching this Angie mentioned that you may want to look into Beddy's bedding for an alternative for the bedding on your bed. I take it from the lack of propane tanks there is no furnace? As Camphosts on several different occasions we have seen a lot of different small trailers come thu the campgrounds. I found your tour very interesting. Safe Travels you two!! Sean
Yes, it's definitely small but bigger than a typical teardrop and we have appreciated that. Still, we can see where having something just a little bit larger would be helpful on longer trips. Someday, maybe. No, there is an air conditioner but no furnace. We bring along an electric Honeywell heater that looks sort of like a fan and that keeps us nice and toasty - even if the temps are below freezing. It's crazy how quickly you can warm up a space that size. Thanks for watching!
Awww, thanks so much. We're rapidly approaching our 24th wedding anniversary so we sort of like each other. 😁 There are so many factors to consider when buying a camper. Looks like a great camper van and that it’s working out for you, though having some space issues 😂 this is a very informative video especially to those looking to get one. :)
Excellent review!!!! I've been interested for a few months in this or the Grizzly model due to lack of height/wind resistance when towing. I like the entry level "bare bones" price of them with NO interior furnishings, but was curious about that choice. I'm 6'1" with a bad lower back, so the height is already an issue. Thankfully, I'm a small fry at 140lbs, so size isn't as big of a concern. The big issue is contorting/lifting or moving things while bent/contorted, so based of of your VERY thorough review, I think a bare bones camper that I do a custom build out inside with my issues in mind IS the right choice. I like a very good nights sleep and we already have a Coleman Airbed cot that the air mattress would work perfectly in that space. That table issue with the feet is also VERY informative as I have BIG feet, along with being bent and trying to lift/tug it out of its set up position is a big no-no for me, so a custom Laguna/Lagun setup would be a nice solution. Like you, I'm thinking bed mode would pretty much be the setup we kept unless it was a blowing rain. Maybe even a fold up table at the front for eating inside while keeping bed mode would be an option for us. A potential thought is a swing away style grab bar positioned near the door. My wife is 5'2", so she'll have no issues other than my long armed, boney self flailing around inside. Thank you for the measurements as well as those really allow me to visualize issues and form a game plan if we do go forward with a purchase of one of these. Thankfully, we are about 6 hours away here in TN, so a definite must do is visit their showroom and actually "test fit" ourselves inside a few different models. Great work! Look forward to your future videos!
Thanks so much, Derek! Yes, going to sit inside these in person before making your final decision is an excellent idea! And yes, the table choice we made is our one regret. Other than that, we're super happy with our camper choice and we look forward to making some customizations to ours as well. And yes, keeping it in bed mode most of the time is definitely the easiest way to operate. But we love that we have the option to put it into table mode and to sit up in there so that we can also take our camper out when it's COLD or rainy. It's always good to have options!!! We hope you enjoy our future videos. We also have videos going back a ways where we were camping in our tiny camper that you might enjoy if you want to watch some of our previous ones. Keep us posted on your tiny camper journey. We'd love to hear which model you choose!
this is a great looking camper. the wife and i went to check out rustric trail campers back in 2017, but decided on a gulfstream 16 bhc Ameri-lite. i wished we grabbed one up. they have doubled in cost. been thinking of selling our trailer to get a slide in truck camper.
Thank you. Yes, we are out in our camper right now enjoying it. There are pros and cons to every setup. We've seen some really nice looking truck campers! Keep us posted and let us know what you decide to go with!
Thanks for the tour. I'm a fellow Michigander and have had my eye on a Kodiak for a bit so this video was super informative! I'm a barely 5 foot solo camper though so I'm thinking I might have a little more room to maneuver. Maybe. 😬
So glad we could give you a detailed tour!!! Yes, you will definitely have plenty of room. We're even finding that we have more room with it than we thought we did at the beginning. It's an adjustment for sure but we really are enjoying our little camper. It's a dream to pull, too!
Oh, that's awesome! We are definitely looking to upgrade our boxes at some point. LOL Just sort of went with what we had to get started. We'll have to check Menards out. We love their prices! Thanks for the tip!
Yeah, it's definitely small. I'm 5'8" and my husband is 6"3" and he definitely struggles with the length of the bed more than I do. It isn't for everyone...
Does it have Solar power? How long does the battery last? Can you put a min fridge in? Does it have WiFi added to it? Can you get WiFi added to the camper? Can you get a replacement battery? Is the battery easily Changeable? Can you recharge the battery? If so how do you Recharge the battery
Thanks so much for watching! Let me try to answer your questions. Solar is an option. We're still on our first battery so I'm not sure how long it will last. I know it lasts longer if you keep your camper plugged in when not in use. Yes, I have seen some people put a mini fridge into theirs. Ours doesn't have wifi but that might be an option. Yes, you can buy replacement batteries and they're easy to change. There are lots of different options and I'm not sure what Rustic Trail Teardrops is specifically offering right now so you'll want to check out their website or contact them directly to get answers to some of your questions. They're very friendly! www.rustictrailteardrops.com/
A great detailed look at the camper. Nice job. And we’re glad to hear you’re getting it figured out and it’s helping to make your adventures more enjoyable. And very cool that you can stand on the fenders. That’s a no no on ours. 😂 Our Tag XL is like a king sized bed on wheels. Would be nice to have the sitting/table option you have. On the next camper maybe 😉
The TAGs are cute. We like their kitchens and it would be nice to have a king-sized bed. Although we've been surprised by how many RVs have narrower beds than we do! Until you get into much bigger rigs, anyway. The lower cost with Rustic Trails Teardrops is one of the things that initially drew us to them.
I have been considering buying a rustic trail. I have followed them on Facebook for a good while. I have been in the owners group to read and listen, I have not posted. I have called, and asked the company questions. This morning I politely asked them on a Facebook post if they have considered making a composite version of the Kodiak off-road. They responded with a long post dismissing me as a potential customer simply since I asked a polite question. I asked more direct questions, and said I didn’t appreciate being dismissed as a customer simply bc I asked a polite question. They deleted all of the discussion, and blocked me on Facebook. This is clearly a company who does not deal with at least some customers in a way I want a company I buy from to respond to customers. Buyer beware! And have screen shots of the entire discussion if anyone wants to see them.
Yikes. That wasn't our experience at all. Sorry that happened to you. We aren't affiliated with Rustic Trails or anything. Just happy customers. Hope you're able to find a camper that will work well for you.

Great video 👏🏻
Thanks so much! We really appreciate that.
We have a Grizzly. Menards has a great clear long tote that will fit through the door.
Oh, that's awesome! We are definitely looking to upgrade our boxes at some point. LOL Just sort of went with what we had to get started. We'll have to check Menards out. We love their prices! Thanks for the tip!
I love you guys. You remind me of my wife and me.❤️
Awww, thanks so much. That's high praise. We're so glad you found us!
If that bed was a foot longer I would be sold. Not sure I could handle my feet off the edge. Everything else I saw looks fine.
