David I've just begun listening to your programs and I'm really gaining so much from them. You so astutely grapple with many issues that affect me personally. And I've learned so much from your guests in intellectual and emotional ways. I really thank you for your such pointed powerful questions and your utter openness and honesty with which you approach your work. Really thank you
Rabbi Taragin, though decades older than your students, I gain much wisdom and moral clarity from your YU Torah shiurim. I am also deeply moved by the stories you share about how October 7 has affected you, your family, and your students. With much hakoras hatov, RW.
worth it even just for, "the challenge today is not even achieving Torah Umadda, but recognizing and responding to its degeneration to 'Torah Madonna (the pop star, not the other one)' (paraphrasing)". 13:45.
"...This is the chance you have awaited for millions of ages This is your final hope..." full poem: "Truth Be Told Though we are not acquainted And regardless of where you are from I know most of us came from Heaven And are here to await the Creator The way back to Heaven begins with atoning for sins Yet the devil is roused by the coming of the divine Heed not the lies of the Red Beast For it wishes to stop you from making this divine connection Find Dafa’s followers to understand the truth This is the chance you have awaited for millions of ages This is your final hope Summer of 2011" Master Li Hongzhi (Hong Yin IV, from Falun Dafa teachings)
Amazing. Minor quibble: I hate the term חוזר בשאלה. Aside from the fact that it is linguistically meant to contrast with the idea of חוזר בתשובה, and that is a total misunderstanding of what the word תשובה means in that expression, the main problem is that it implies that religious people are those who have or think they have all the answers, whereas one who questions naturally proceeds to cease to be observant. And as you both mentioned here, faith is not and should not be dependent on understanding.
With respect, please let the guest answer without finishing his sentences and saying "sure" and "yeah" and interruptions. You're excellent long form questions work better when they are followed by quiet listening.
I'm a (mostly) secular cultural/ethnic Jew and I love this series! Thank you for being welcoming ❤

As I get older and listen to shiurim I realise how amazing , how deep and full of the wisdom the Torah is!
