    G'day Jim from South Australia, I hope you've had a wonderful Christmas break and you are doing well. I joined your channel a fair while ago but I have to admit I've had the banjo hanging for (much too long) a time. My grandchildren found it in my 'man cave' a few weeks ago and they "love the tune it makes Poppy!" so I've re-discovered my love for it. Whenever I'm feeling a bit blue, I play it and I find it is a wonderful thing to make me take life less seriously even for just a small time. I'm a military veteran and I've had my struggles but just watching your videos makes me smile, you are what we'd call in Australia a " great bloke" and I thank you for this channel, probably my happiest place on RUclips.
    I think I've found my next tune, I'm still realistically a beginner although I can manage a few tunes I've learned from you. You are just a wonderful human and I thank you for doing this, y'all ;)

    YES! I know it's an odd entry point but my brother showing me John Hartford years ago was a big inspiration for me to pick up the 5 string. Thanks for the lesson Jim!

    Great lesson! To tack onto your point about that melodic lick (at 8:15) being usable in lots of places, one way I use it is as a variation for the first line of New Camptown Races, especially coming out of the B part.

    Jim, Love your lessons. Bought the tab for Steam Powered Aeroplane. The tab doesn't include the cords. Most tab dosent and being an intermediate player this hurdle can make it tough to cord along and sing those great lyrics. In for a penny in for a pound! I should be able to figure it out but if you have the key and cords that would help.
    Regards, Ed in Florida.

    Hi Jim! great series sir! Your tutorials are interesting and your manner easy to listen to. one off topic question? what are the silver cases behind you (I think they are covering banjo cases) are those to protect the banjo cases and/or to keep the temperature and humidity levels more balanced inside the case?

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  Год назад

      I got them back in the 90s from a company called climate case. You’re right, they’re thermal protection.

    Wow Jim, that sounds really nice. It’s too much for me to retain. I started to try it. You’re still teaching very, very well but I’m beginning to think I’m too old to learn banjo. I’m not a senior citizen, but I’m 45. Man, I wish I would’ve bought this banjo 30 years ago. I’m getting discouraged. I want to play this banjo so badly.

    • @JimPankey
      @JimPankey  Год назад

      Might be beyond where you are currently. Definitely not too old.

      This isn't really an easy song. Don't be so hard on yourself. The timing is a bit complex too. Keep at it playing, focus on the basics, and practice as much as you can
