    I use my laundry sink to clean Yogi's cage. I use a nail brush and dish soap to scrub the grate and once a month, the toys get javexed and so does the cage. Between that, each bird on the perch and his cage and perches go to get cleaned. I am lucky. They poop on perches but never their toys. My Yogis fav perch is a piece of bamboo with half a hollowed out coconut shell atttached to it, like a big spoon.

    Cage cleaning? I hate getting out of bed on those days lol. My Coatimundi and Kinkajou each have large dog kennels that are meant for outdoor use as their indoor cages, i also have c&c cages that make up 4 rabbit cages, 4 guinea pig cages, and 2 hedgehog cages, I also have 2 of those vision cages and all this time had been taking out all the toys before cleaning them lol. Then there is all the other cages in my house. Phew glad I did all that on Saturday lol

    When I clean my cockatiels cage, she likes to sit on my shoulder whilst I'm doing everything and she likes to toss anything I'm cleaning when she feels necessary. My male just perches near by and makes a large racket until I finish cleaning :) sometimes cleaning a birds cage can be quite a hassle with some birds XD

      I do u understand that birds need to be entertained especially a only bird but the cage does not look comfortable its crowded and messy try a bigger cage with a healthy amount of toys and perches just enough for the bird I would keep two to four and switch them out every week

    Oh I know! It's because it doesn't absorb anything, then it moulds when it gets wet. Definitely not a good substrate for small pets. But I do like it for the bottom of Ella's cage.

    Corncob is not good for their respiratory system, and I use to use it many years ago myself but my birds would throw it out so newspaper is my life saver lol.

    • @BudgetBunny
      @BudgetBunny  4 года назад

      Kelly Suzanne Ella couldn’t reach the corn cob as I made sure to keep the layer thin enough that there was about an inch between it and the grate. I didn’t know it could cause respiratory issues but found it to be a pretty useless bedding anyways. I didn’t like the idea of her potentially swallowing it, it went mouldy quickly and did nothing for odour. I too went back to newspaper years ago now. Safest and least expensive!

      @@BudgetBunny Yes mine would smell and get moldy also it holds moister that's why it's bad for them. I love my news paper if they ever stop making it I'm in trouble lol. +Sharon Nusbaum Thank you so much! All of my bird's have their own cage, so it wouldn't be a problem for me to adopt a parrolet. I just wanted to know, because no matter how much I interact and play with him, my cockatiel seems to be lonely, and I figured that he would like a friend that is somewhat around his size.

    • @hellagreen2734
      @hellagreen2734 7 лет назад +1

      It depends on where you live and where you get them. The best option is to visit an animal shelter or find somebody near you who is giving away their birds or to find a reputable breeder in your area. Pet shops should be avoided when it comes to actually getting your birds(animals in general) as the animals tend to come from mass breeding facilities, where the animals are treated very poorly. It may be the case though, that a pet store is showcasing animals up for adoption, so if you do see a bird you're interested in, it doesn't hurt to ask the store employees where the bird is from. The most I would pay for a budgie or a parrotlet is about 30 to 50 bucks (give or take & depending on the situation. Plus I live in Germany so I'm talking about euros.). Sometimes you can find somebody who is simply giving the bird away. I'd start with asking family friends if they know somebody who knows somebody etc etc. You might be surprised. Okay, that was a looooong reply. Good luck!

    • @MeganClarkMusic

      ProblematiqueAJ cages: it depends on the bird. I found an AMAZING one for 30 dollars for budgies
      Toys: this might seem expensive but maybe 30 dollars.. they need pirtches (sorry if that's spelled wrong :/). They need a rope, concrete, and wood one. Also a chewing thing which is more classified as food (again this is for budgies). Budgies are a good starter bird so if you want a bird for the first time I recommend them.
